T Fight 315?

Hey, are you guys still around? I have a question... It's always complicated to try and figure out swingweight without access to a RDC.

If I modify a 16x19 and 18x20 Ltd to have the same weight and balance, in your experience and according to your knowledge, would they have roughly the same swingweight? The 18x20s seem to require a tiny bit less lead, perhaps because of the weight of the strings. The 18x20s also have this additional bumper guard at 10 and 2 and that might put a bit more weight in the head so higher SW? Can't remember the specs given for each, did TW have the same SW for both patterns?

Thanks in advance.

It would depend on how you go about matching the weight and balance. But long story short they should be very close. It also depend a lot on whether you adding weight to the top of the racket on to the handle.

I've been fiddling w a pair of 315 Ltd Dc. They are same weight and balance as my Prestige Mid 360+ but are a bit tiresome to swing after a while...granted I've been drinking weak sauce...

one tied up with ultracable/ghost wire and the other ultracable/firestorm

Yea, thanks. I just put lead in the head at 12 to reach the goal weight. Some need 3 grams, others 5 or 6. I'm not too anal about the balance, they are all very close, a mm difference doesn't bother me.

Unfortunately, I realized that I have a lemon in my 6 Ltds. One of the 16x19 came at 305 g instead of 315 as advertised. The 5 others seem to be better +/- 5 g. Very disapointed in that. Fortunately, the TWU tool showed me that it was rather easy to bring it to 315 g with the correct balance by adding 10 g at 6.7" high, which isn't too much of a hassle. Will it feel the same, that's another question.

Matching weight and balance is really easy once you know how. As easy as riding a bike. First you need to check the weight and balance of each racket. Then with some simple math you can determine how much weight needs to be added to each racket to match each rackets weight and balance exactly. Not a gram or a mm of difference in any racket.

EDIT: Once you get the weight and balance matched you can adjust SW, TW, and balance the way you want by adding mass to each racket the same.

I’ve now tried the 2013 18m and the DC Ltd 16m version. Both wonderful racquets, though there’s something about the feel of the 2013 18m that appears impossible to replicate. I wonder if it’s the silicone in the handle. I’m going to mod my DC Ltd with the right sized pallets, at which point I’ll try adding a little Blu tack into the hairpin. Maybe that’ll help replicate the feel of the 2013s.

The 2013 TFight 315 Limited 18M is a very special racquet with a wonderful feel. Needs modification to get the most out of it (at least for me), and would play even better with a TK82S pallet from Head (as it has the TK82 Head pallets already)... I just haven't gotten around to replacing them. Will do though.

Agree. I managed to pry open the butt cap of the 2013, and found no silicone in it !! So the feel is all down to the layup. My dc version is nearly there in terms of feel, but there’s just that little bit more on the 2013. Probably down to the slightly lower stiffness ...
As an aside - I also have a Radical Tour MP zebra, and got to say these as good, if not slightly better !! I know not everyone will agree with that last comparison, it is subjective I will admit.

And yes I have 3g at 12 on the 2013 and 4g at 12 on the DC version. They swing easily and I don’t find a lack of power.

I also love the Head Radical Tour 630 (Zebra). It's one of my favourite racquets, and one of the best racquets of all time. I have several, as well as, the RT630 Bumblebee and the Candycane.

I tried adding putty to the butt on the dc 315 ltd frame to try to replicate the feel of the 2013 Limited ones. Added 8g or so, but the feel of the 2013 is hard to replicate. And there is no silicone in the butt of my 2013 either - so not sure if it’s the silicone that’s causing that feel.
Do any of you know if the other 2013 models (e.g. the 325 or the 305) had this level of feel, give that they come with the ‘tour prepared’ tag as well ?

I think the 2013 TFight 315 Limited is a different racquet to the non-Limited versions in the range... but I've never tried the others. From memory they were stiffer and had different string patterns.

Got it.

Understand they were stiffer - but the 2013 Limited version somehow has no vibrations at all, like almost none at all, and it appears that it’s not due to silicone or low RA, but something about the layup itself. My question was if anyone has played the others and see the same feel (eg minimum vibrations) in any of the stiffer layups. , maybe because they sharesome aspects of the layup. Then again, I’m not sure how a racquet is made stiffer (or plusher) so maybe I’m completely misunderstanding the process.

Understood... sorry I can't help there as I have not played the stiffer ones. I only got the 315 Limited (both string patterns) because they were a Pro Stock racquet sold as retail (they have the code on the pin - PT965A), and are Tecnifibres' version of a PT57A. I love them.

Hope someone else chimes in.

No worries at all, thanks for responding. While the feel of the 2013 is sublime and unmatched, the dc version is maybe 90% of the way there feel-wise and for me, far more effective in match play. There’s something about the throat weighting of the 2013 that makes it somewhat more sluggish. Or maybe the one I have has swing weight in the 325s as someone mentioned on this thread ...

One question for anyone who's played the 2013 Tec Limited and the Ultra Tour - how would you compare these in terms of that wonderful feel? I've heard a lot of people talk about how good the UT feels, but I don't know their point of comparison/reference.

They are both great racquets, but I haven't played them back-to-back. This would be a very interesting comparison, and something I will do in the very near future. Same string and tension.

Tecnifibre 315 LTD 16x19 has a much better feel than the Ultra Tour -- much softer and smoother overall.
Wilson Ultra Tour 18x20 -- I did not find anything special about its feel at all. Very dull/meh kind of feel which conveys nothing. It is not stiff, but I would not call it soft either. I have one strung with multi, and one with full poly -- and both feel worse than the Tecnifibre.

I could not resist :) I bought a used Ultra Tour to compare myself to see what all the fuss is about :). Should have it in a week or so, will test it out the next time I play.
I received my ultra tour, strung with Hyper G. Haven’t played it yet, but bouncing a ball on it, it appears it has the same solid, vibration-free feel of the 2013 limited (which is strung with cyclone 18, a somewhat softer string). Will test it out in actually play shortly and report back.

Played for 3 hours this weekend with the ultra tour. Feel wise, it’s similar to the tec limited, maybe just a tad firmer but the same vibration-free experience except when striking at the very top of the string bed (which arguably would count as a mishit). I wasn’t playing it with the same string (couldn’t get myself to cut out what appeared to be a fresh bed of hyper g and restring) so that may account for some of the difference. The ultra I have has 6g of tungsten tape at 3/9, yet it appears to swing somewhat easier than the (unleaded) tec. All in all, as pleasant a hit, but arguably I’m more effective with the Wilson than with the tec. I’m going to use the ut as my primary. Can’t bring myself to sell the tec though :)

Does anyone know if the grommets for the last ltd run (xtc) fit the 2013 Tec limiteds?
I don not think they do but you might ask TW. I have both models of the 315 and could compare if they don’t know. But they are going to be very similar so I wouldn’t trust stare and compare. I could check with some of my contacts if you can‘t find out for sure. Just PM me.

Sure thank you. I’ll check with TW.

They should be the same as all that changed with the limited models was the paint job and the materials but not the string pattern.
Thank you for the confirmation.

I did send TW a question, but they likely did not understand my question - their answer was that it would not fit due to frame thickness (which I think has remained the same) and the holes that are skipped (which I thin has also remained the same). This makes me think they did not understand which frame I am trying to use the grommets on.

Anyone here want 3x lightly used 315 LTDs? Willing to give them away at a total bargain, grip size is 4 3/8ths. I'd rather them be used by someone then sit in my closet. I have gone back to the 1st gen TFight 320 and current Ezone 98.

@AKB, love my 315 LTDs. Which string pattern are yours, and are they the more recent ones or the slightly older ones?

The string pattern has not changed any. All 315 LTD 16 main rackets skip 8 H&T. There could be a very slight difference if grommet spacing which can cause issues but I can’t see it just looking. They look identical.

The older models (2013 ATP) did have a shot of silicone, a leather grip, and a TK82 pallet. The newer model did away with all that I think. If you wanted to replace the molded pallet on an XTC I’m pretty sure any Head pallet would fit.

Thanks Irvin, that's what I thought. They must have misunderstood which frame I was trying to use the grommets on.

I never thought my Babs Pure strike 18x20 could be de throned but the new T40 315 did exactly that. A tad more control. good deal more feel and no lose on my serve. Loving this stick. would love to compare it to the rs 305

I had the TF40 315 recently as well, definitely a very good stick. I’d say my game is more effective with the TF40 than with the 2013 TFight limited; however feel wise, there’s almost no other racquet that comes to the level of the 2013 Limiteds. I only played the PT280 a while ago, and that may be the closest in feel.

One of the coaches I hit with played my PT630, Ultra Tour 18M, and 2013 TFight 315 Limited side-by-side (admittedly the strings were not the same), and found the TFight 315 Limited to be the best.

I agree that the feel is very special, however, I'm told by my hitting partners that the weight-of-shot is not quite there when compared to the PT630 (even though my 315 Limited is modified with weight in the head and handle).

When it comes to the pure enjoyment of playing tennis, regardless of the score, the 2013 TFight 315 Limited 18M (for me) is in a very rarefied field.

I agree. I really like the feel, and then sooner or later, I play the 'what if' game - what if I have a little stiffer / more powerful racquet etc. and then try out a few, eventually to come back to the same. Of late, I've been consistently losing to the guy I usually play (whereas before I used to win 75% of the sets). Chances are that he's just getting better, but I figured (a) Switching racquets is probably not helping and (b) if I'm going to lose, why not lose playing with a racquet with exceptional feel :)

I used the Tfight LTD 315 16x19 back in 2013 - sold it in 2014, regretted it and purchased them again in 2015 only to sell a year later. Well, I missed the Tfight LTD and just bought 2 more via the talk tennis classifieds. I hit today with just an overgrip and head tape between 9 and 3 (5 grams). This racquet is so good! I played with a leaded up Ultra Pro 16x19 which is similar to this racquet, but this racquet feels more solid and plush at contact. Just a classic, and could give my regular racquet - the Vcore Pro 330 - some competition as my match racquet.

Funny - I have tried to switch to other racquets but I still keep coming back to my trusted TFight 315 Ltd 16m….it’s such a GOOD stick! When I’m feeling good and legs are working, I hit with the Prestige Pro IG Yutek, which is very similar, but has a slightly higher SW and hits a heavier ball. But I’m yet to find a stick that has that nice feel of the TFight.
Looking forward to test the new Blade, as it looks pretty darn similar spec wise, and from what I can tell, has a bigger sweet spot.

How does the XTC version feel compared to the 2013 version ? I noted a slight buzz in the string bed of the DC ltd compare me to the 2013. Does the XTC resemble the DC more or the 2013 version more?

I keep bugging my friend to trade me his 16m DC LTD. I already have the 18m.
