Tacky overgrip that lasts.

I like Dunlop super tac. But I’m curious about the toalson one mentioned here a few times - anyone can compare the toalson to the Dunlop super tac ?

I agree the Toalson looks like something to try. I’ve used the Dunlop Viperdry and didn’t care for it. It got slick and that’s why I went to Wilson. Head Prime Tour is looking very promising for me right now. I wasn’t excited about it until late in my match tonight.

still impressed with Head Prime Tour. A bit less stretchy than Super Grap when wrapping but the tack and feel lasts much longer. I've stocked up on another 50-pack while they're on sale.

Got the 50 pack of Prime Tour white from TW on sale not too long ago. Usually a Wilson Pro Overgrip white user.
Used it on my Head G360 Speed MP for the first time and it did it’s job. I feel like the feel was more consistent (stayed tacky but too dry or wet) compared to Wilson. The Wilson sometimes would be a bit wet and I’d have to rub my hands on my shirt. I’ll use my leftover Wilson grips still but this Prime Tour has me impressed.
Hate the finishing tape though (new Wilson finishing tape is almost just as bad). Right now, I have Wilson Pro Overgrip taped on my Prime Tour lol

Let me rain on the parade--who cares? The cost is minimal, and they get dirty and ugly a long time before they wear out. New ones feel really good, and cost about as much as a tennis ball. I go through a stack of these each season.

Toalson stays tacky for much longer, and overall better quality. With super tac, it gets a little slippery when I sweat a lot. But super tac is slightly thicker.

I just switch to RTP (road to pro ) tennis grip, They actually have been the best grip I ever got. They're in between Wilson pro overgrip and Yonex Supreme
I thought so too, until I got sweaty and my hands started getting the grip wet. Worse than Wilson Pro and Yonex Supergrap

Just finished a 12 pack or tec pro contact and very impressed. I sweat a lot and it absorbed very well and durability was amazing. I re-grip when I feel the need and these lasted up-to 15 sessions, and were.replaced asy.thumb had started to wear away the overgrip. Two findings, you have to remove the plastic film slowly otherwise it stays in the branded stamp name. And you have to stretch it just right so it doesn't bobble around the buttcap.

I've.got gamma supreme, Wilson pro, yonex supergrap, Pacific and tourna megatac in the cupboard to try, though honestly I would be happy using the Tec only in the future

I’ve tried Wilson Pro, Head Prime Tour, Dunlop Super tac, yonex super grap, and Tourna Tac.

Wilson & Yonex are almost the exact same from my experience, I don’t know how people tell me they notice a big difference.

Dunlop Supertac and head prime tour are similar but not the same.

Tourna Tac is the one I’ve been most recently using, it is different to the others as the feeling is much smoother and not textured like the other overgrips, this actually works better imo and you don’t get the same not visible micro tears (can’t see them but can hear and feel them) that you get when you stretch the others. Also tourna tac is the only one that actually gets tackier when you sweat (for me). Plus tourna is made in the US and is cheaper than the other options $42 for a 30 pack. I’ve been using Wilson Pro as my main grip (while trying others listed above, and dry grips not listed above) for the last year or so but over the last month I think I’ve decided to fully make the switch to tourna tac. I think the light blue color may be the tackiest with black and white being similar tackiness, have not tried the pink. The tourna tac xl also provides enough extra grip to wrap around the buttcap twice to enlarge it (i always do this) while the head prime tour does not, all the others I listed above do though. Would like to give Gamma supreme a shot but I do not think it will be tourna tac, have no desire to try mega tac as tourna tac is more than tacky enough for me. also it has been the most durable og for me.

Is there a Head Prime Tour color that is the tackiest? I've been using Supergrap forever. For that I think it's white.

And the length?

Try this brand called Road To Pro. They have great over grips, $19 for 15 over grips that I think are better than Wilson Pro and Yonex Supergrap

I don’t know, I changed my mind

Wilson lasts? It doesn’t last long for me, neither does Babolat VS.

Solinco Wonder grip last a decent time for me. And the price point is good about $32 for 30
I tried the Solinco wondergrip recently after using mostly Yonex super grap.

initially the solinco feels just as tacky (a little bit more tacky and slightly more plasticky) but noticed 2 problems
1. overgrip at the racket handle was slipping down the racket after I went to practice serves. Fixed after I removed and regripPed it tighter. Read In forums that both sides used to be tacky now only the outside is made tacky which makes it prone to slip.
2. after 30-40 minutes of hitting with sweat in the summer it gets slippery, racket sometimes twists in hand. I don’t get this problem with super grap.

over all durability is decent though and price is obviously better. But not sold on them. Probably going back to Yonex or trying something else

I have a tacky head hydrosorb replacement grip underneath and it doesn’t slip there, I heard leather grips will slip? I have had leather grips before they held fine too, or just pull the over grip tighter?

I’ll be honest I got it mostly for the 30 for $32 cost. I know it lasts longer and slightly thicker than Wilson or Babolat vs.

Interesting. Ive used it on a head gravity pro with the stock grip (I believe hydrosorb) and didnt have much issue. When I used it on a Yonex Vcore with stock grip I had the slippage. Maybe due to the difference in handle shape/flare or the underlying grip. In either case, I was able to fix it by re overgrip ping it tighter. Not a deal breaker but something for others to take note of if trying for the first time.

Just curious as to how long most people expect an over-grip to last. I've seen people have the same over-grip on their racquet for months. For me they are a temporary grip, and I change them very often.

Toalson Ultra is very good. Very similar to Wilson pro or Yonex Supergrap, maybe even tackier when new.

All of these last about the same amount of playing, for me that is ~10 hrs. After that the tackiness is gone and they start to feel "slimy"...

Gamma Supreme may last even a bit longer, but it is for some reason very hard to find here in Europe, at least the 30-packs.

MegaTac by TournaPro.

Very tacky and really lasts a long time. Really.

Switched from Yonex Supergrap.

Any new tacky overgrip in 2024 that lasts longer, Currently using Tourna Mega Tac but its not that great in sweat absorption during summers.
I switch from Mega Tac to Tourna Tuff during the summer. It’s the only one I found that deals with sweat but still maintains some level of tack.

I just ordered some Yonex Dry Supergrap to try it out.

I've found the best/cheapest way to have tacky overgrips that last is to buy Tourna Tuff and spray it with goalkeeper tack spray as-needed. The Tourna Tuff hasn't worn out on me yet, and by reapplying the tack spray I can get as good of a grip as with a brand new tacky overgrip. The only downside really is that the grip will get pretty dingy after a few cycles, but since the grip is blue it doesn't look all that bad.

I agree. That's what I do. Any good grip or tack spray helps keep the grip tacky when the grip starts losing its tackiness.

Still nothing is tackier than Mega Tac.
mega tac is so tacky it’s a little slippery, and i’m not a sweater. I’ve found Dunlop Super Tac to be the best in terms of all around performance. Wilson Pro, Yonex Supergrap, and Head Prime Tour are not bad at all. Tourna Tac and Gamma supreme may have a bit longer durability but they are also thicker and my ocd kicks in feeling the ridges too much.

mega tac is perfect for winter when the air and your hands are bone dry

Try Yonex Dry Supergrap, it's the tackiest absorbent overgrip I've found.

I tried sominco wondergrip and I found that to last a really long time but you can feel the durability in the thickness of the grip. Wilson pro is nice but I feel it tears up too soon for my liking but usually use that when theres no other alternative

Recently took a flier and bought a 30 pack of Toalson Ultra grip. Awesome grip. Starts out a smidge tackier than Wilson Pro, but not so tacky it gets slick if you get sweat on it (looking at you mega tac). More importantly, it holds up way better than Wilson, or just about any other tacky grip I’ve tried. If you like Wilson pro, prime tour, pro contact, supergrap, etc. you will love this grip.

I was a Wilson pro overgrip user for many years until recently last year I decided to try the Gamma Supreme. It has similar tackiness to Wilson pro but lasts longer. So, I’m sticking to Gamma Supreme, the white color.

Yep, same here. Gamma Supreme is the better, longer lasting, version of Wilson Pro. Only the white though. The color ones are not as tacky and don't feel great to me.

Yuck, hopefully your stringers wear surgical gloves and a hazmat suit when they string your racquets.

Just because a grip remains tacky doesn't mean it isn't dirty and needs to be replaced.

I get about a week out of my SuperGrap or Wilson Pro and that is plenty good for me.

i disagree, gamma supreme is similar to tourna tac though, and head prestige overgrip. All three of these are comprised of like a thin foam whereas overgrips like Wilson Pro, Supergrap, and Head Prime tour are different. Gamma supreme is good though.

A new answer to an old question--a week or so if I play exclusively with a racquet. A pack of 3 (I usually buy in larger quantities, so unit costs are even lower) costs about as much as a trip to Starbucks, so is hardly worth keeping track of the cost. If I try out a brand that I don't like, I'll just use them up and not buy them again.
