I mean I'm glad he beat arrogant Foe...but this is as embarrassing as Mal Washington in a Wimbledon final...embarrassing for Zverev and Tstittypas...

I'm not seeing the problem.

Fritz has won Indian Wells, won 8 career ATP titles, been ranked as high as #5, and beat #4 seed Zverev on the way to the final. Plus, Taylor was a former world #1 in the juniors and was a US Open junior champion. He's a worthy finalist and earned it.
Yeah it just isn't that crazy. In his prime and always been good.

Better than no BH, no return stef as well
Fritz is good and can play great. A formidable foe in a down draw.

He has always had talent and promise and has accomplished some big things. He is now in his prime and playing well.

Not enough to beat the priest, but impressive regardless.

It is interesting that Fritz was the Junior U.S. champion 9 years ago but our favourite @stringertom never got excited about the teenage Fritz as he did with the 17 y.o. young Sinner.

It remains to be seen if Sinner can handle the crowd loudly supporting the American Fritz.
And whether the crowd support will lift the hapless overmatched Fritz.
Sinner will probably deal with it easily but young Sinner has never been in that situation before.

Fritz was almost there at Wimbledon 2022. He's a mentally tough player and adept on fast courts. This isn't that big of a surprise and I'm just glad he's not facing Novak in another Berrettini Open Final
Nadal refused to lose that 2022 Wimbledon quarter final against Fritz, remembering the 2022 Indian Wells final result.

Nadal did the same to Gasquet at 2004 Estoril, when Nadal had an ankle stress fracture and still won. Their previous match, a challenger event in France in 2003, Nadal had retired against Gasquet injured, and didn't want to do it again in Estoril.

Why is it embarrassing? He won 6 matches to get there and he beat Zverev. He earned it. I also don't think Tiafoe is arrogant. He shouldn't have made those comments but a lot of you are overreacting.
This…typical ttw clown commentary. Fritz has been consistently knocking the QF doors at slams for 2 seasons now, deservedly earns his place in the final. On one hand some of them want anyone but Novak and when that happens they whine. I have no idea why big Foe gets so much hate, one would think everyone here are morally outstanding citizens..lol.

Fritz is a really good player on hard courts and has been losing mostly to Djokovic in hard court Slams lately. He has improved his fitness/movement and is playing better than ever before - his BH has become a solid shield also. Glad to see him doing well, but he is a significant underdog in the final. Hard to see him winning unless he gets a crazy boost from the US crowd.

Exactly. He's a good player, he's playing well, and he's won 6 matches to get here. The kind of person that makes these threads is never happy: when it's the same 4-6 people making finals they claim it's a weak era. When a good player steps up at their home slam or, god forbid, someone goes on a wild run, they also claim it's a weak era.

I used to crush hard on Fritz before he got his current GF.
i like his big serve and forehand. He has a nice attitude.
think he’ll lose in straights.

I saw him live in a training match, he has a good moves, and he has power, a very good player.

But he has quite strange orthodox strikes, not everyone has to like them.!!

I think he has his chances. If he chimes out swinging he can put doubt in Sinner and if he takes the first set, game on. Sinner is heavy fave to me but Fritz if he can serve big and hit big can hang with Sinner.. he took Novak and Rafa to 5 sets, so can play. He needs to believe and be aggressive, can’t grind a win here.

None of them play attractive tennis and both have non-aesthetic rangy builds.

One is charming in a way moms appriciate and the other is bland in every aspect.

It's a tough call. I think I'll go with the one that doesn't dope.
