How are the horned frogs lookin this year
Looking pretty good. They should be able to make some noise in the Big 12 this year but it will be tough to beat Oklahoma, Texas or Baylor. Facundo Lugones is a much improved player and looks like a solid cog in the team. Dachs and Chappell are a pretty good 1&2 combo albeit not dominant.
Currently ranked 34 and probably a bit better than that. They will need to avoid losses to Texas Tech or teams similar to their level.
I wish I could see them on tv as an alumni lawyear class of 88 I don't have time.
They are ok. Just ok. Clemson is overrating their top 2. I have seen these guys hit and Chappell is a factory player and the other guy who is spanish despite his non spanish name has no power. Never hits through the ball.
I'm excited for our season! I was worried after we lost some key players to graduation, but everybody has stepped up nicely. Chappell/Dachs/Lugones excellent at 1/2/3 (showing their leadership early on in the season already), and Chappell/Stein are fantastic in doubles for us, every time.
Clemson is spot-on in his assessment of us, and I also think we will be floating around top-30, mayyybe 25. Tough in a conference where I'm sure Baylor and Oklahoma will be top-5 by year's end, and all of the Big 12's teams are in the top 75.
Chappell has disappointed, he was a very promising junior and I thought would have had a better college career.
some hot girls there.
Crushing loss to Tulsa today at home. Needed that one bad.
Big chance vs Pepperdine today. A must win
Got that win! Overdue for my boys, as they've put in so much work this year. Cal next on Tuesday!
vs Cal should be interesting, cal is maybe a little bit overrated and TCU has a decent chance
While Cal may be a bit overrated, I don't think TCU has much of a shot against them. I think a 5-2 or 6-1 result for Cal is forthcoming. Just don't see any courts where TCU is favored.
tcu is chanceless in doubles, #1 and #2 also they are a break up on #3
I see we're up 3-2, with Chappell up 2-0 in the third and Gonzalez breaking back to 2-all in the third. Should be a tight contest!
Coming down to court 1
Tiebreak for it all
i was more right as u !
it was a great college match !!!
Big winnable match at home today vs#19 Columbia. Win this and they will surge into the top 35 likely and be safe for a tournament appearance. Lose and they will have to pull off a massive upset in the Big 12.
TCU takes the dubs point and is looking good in 3 singles matches so far. Columbia just barely squeezed past SMU 4-3 on Tuesday.
scoreboard was wrong on court 3 for an hour or so
Things were looking good for TCU but now Columbia has the advantage
Bustamante rallies from 2-4 down to take the 3rd 6-4. Columbia takes #6. 3-3 now. It looked like Chappell was home free 4-0 in the 3rd but Lin is rallying and is only down 3-4 now. That will decide it. Great college match here.
Now 5-4 Lin.
wow. this would be a huge collapse from Chappell
Lin and UC won...!
yes. Lin was down 0-4 in the 3rd and came back and won it 7-5
TCU's coach after match comments don't even mention Chappell. He's probably very upset about it
Gotta beat Oklahoma State today. This is OKST's first competitive match in a while. I'll pick TCU to take the match
TCU down 3-2. Chappell up 5-4 in the 3rd on 1 he was up 4-1 earlier. Bustamante down 4-3 in the 3rd on 4
Chappell better not do it again
Chappell broke to win 7-5 but Bustamante lost 6-4 so Okie St gets the 4-3 win
That was the Frogs last chance really. Looks like one of those oh so close seasons.
Rough season for us; doubles is where we fell yesterday. Back to preparations for Oklahoma tomorrow.
Dachs has a chance to completely heal a season worth of heartbreak right here.
Man you gotta feel for TCU. How many heartbreaks can they take?
tough loss..really tough..this team is a top35 team surely...but will not make it in the rankings...sad
I'm still alive after that heartbreaker... We've put ourselves in this situation so many times this year, fall, and yet be so resilient. Proud of my Frogs!
Could we perhaps be the most-frightening 55th-ranked tennis team in history? Regardless, I think nobody would want to see our name across from theirs in the Big 12 tournament coming up.
TCU is trying hard. But their transition to the Big 12 has been near disastrous for them. In all sports.
chanceless today vs texas
well the Big12 in sports is really really good
as a C-Usa? sports..it was easiert
TCU was Mountain West
The poor Horned Frogs may be setting themselves up for another heartbreaker right now
Hopefully it doesn't come down to #1.
Lenz and Lupieri up a break now. This could end quick so as to not extend TCU's pain, blessing in disguise maybe.
Chappell loses 3rd set 2-6. Tough loss for TCU. Mild for their standards, but still tough.
Tight, tight win by TCU today over Rice. If Johnson doesn't win that match at 5 it could have ended up 3-3 going to doubles. TCU's recap says TCU routs Rice 4-1 - definitely doesn't look like a rout to me.

TCU 6-3; National ranking #18
Order of finish: Doubles (); Singles (1,2,3,4,5)
Match moved indoors to GTAC
Singles played first
it was not a rout, i followed it thru Rice Twitter, it was very close one
I see TCU is in the running for Reilly Opelka. Is there any chance he chooses TCU?
TCU had plenty of 4-3 matches last year (Florida State, North Carolina, Tulsa, California, Middle Ten State, Columbia, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, and Texas tech) but Baylor was not one of them. The match was played at home and more competitive than the final score reflects. Four matches went three sets and they were up a break in three of those matches at one point.

I just saw a name pop onto the roster - Felipe Escobar - 21 year old from Colombia - showing up as a junior - current ATP ranking 990, UTR 13.46.
He could be the answer at #6.
