He won't be playing until next January - he came in along with Rybakov and Nava about a month ago.
Probably not eligible
Yeah, currently not eligible until next January. I don't like asking for more details, but NCAA has all sorts of wonky rules... My fifth year working directly with tennis and I still don't get all the rules.
Probably a similar transfer situation as with Bustamante and Dachs during my first year - they worry that he might not be academically-prepared to handle school and tennis so he has a year to prove it to them.
Interesting, thanks. Any idea if Norrie and Rybakov will stick around for another year or two? Have to imagine both those guys have at least thoughts of trying to go pro
No idea, but then again, nobody except the players themselves will decide that - and that all depends on a combination of things. So far though, both love the school and playing college ball.
It's nice to have Escobar around just in case, since he can slot in perfectly next year regardless of what the squad looks like in six months.
probably having to sit a year due to NCAA REgulations since he did not go straight to college.
Much like Osama at AL and Micolani at AR both sat for a year and many other cases
Yannick Maden did the same thing at Clemson. And then only had 3 years of eligibility.
Arthur Rinderknech sat out a year at Texas A&M and Gergely Madarasz & Benjamin Ugarte at Purdue.
Any idea why Norrie isn't playing in some matches? At first I thought he just wasn't competing in some of the non competitive matches, but Tulsa isn't a pushover and last night was somewhat close.
He's playing the Irving Challenger this week. Plays Gilles Muller tonight in the first round of the main draw after coming through qualifying.
Not sure how I missed this. Thanks
Sorry, just saw this! Answered by MC86 - he won his qualifying match yesterday and we wanted to rest him for tonight's match. Tough match against Tulsa yesterday, glad we got it done and happy to see Daniel get a dual match win!
Biggest match of his career tonight. Surprised it's not mentioned in the college kids/atp thread.
this forum is dead. It was active in November and December when no college tennis was going on and then when the season starts everyone disappears. Don't get it
Yeh I've noticed the same. Past couple weeks been completely quiet
So why did we switch Norrie and Rybakov today? Seems very strange and back fired
