Teams that should prepare for a big ranking fall

When you calculate points for a team do you use your opponent's rankings from the previous week?

I see Santa Clara in the 2/24 rankings with 6.09 points. As of today they don't have a win over any ranked team. Their best win is over UNCW who was ranked last week but is not ranked this week.

UNCW does not have any wins over ranked teams. It looks like this is more important when the computer takes over :)

i think it is the ranking points from last ranking yes. and UNCW was ranked 54th (=> 30 Points!) in the last rankings before.

plus wins vs Fresno State (probably Top100 = 10 to 16 ranking points ) and Sonoma State + UC Cruz (problably not Top125 => 4*2 points) so we get 48 to 54 points divided thru 4 (amount of best wins) + amount of losses (calculated to strenght of opponents..loss to USC not really counts for example) so we get roundabout a loss-factor of 8 to 10 => average of 5 to 6 points

Santa Clara should drop out after this week, cause UNCW is not ranked anymore

new rankings are out

1 80.25 University of Oklahoma 2
2 77.06 Duke University 4
3 72.64 University of Illinois 3
4 69.40 University of Georgia 7
5 68.85 Baylor University 5
6 61.75 University of Southern California 1
7 60.00 University of Texas 6
8 58.57 Ohio State University 8
9 52.40 University of Mississippi 10
10 51.89 Texas A&M University 9

Tulsa from 51 to 26.

SEC overall still high, UF is 11 and Vanderbilt 14. Sounds not so logical ...
Notre Dame from 14 to 23...cannot say why.
San Francisco from NR to 50 => Clemson only 52?

Will all the teams that beat Tulsa this year likely make a big jump in the rankings next week? (now that Tulsa has moved up to 26)

Notre Dame fell because Kentucky went from a top 30 win to an unranked win. Same with Clemson. The Alabama win went from a top 50 win to an unranked win.

They have 8 losses and no wins over ranked teams. How would they be in the 96-105 bucket? Do you have rankings for 75 - 125?

Once you get down below 75 the difference in points between the rest is pretty thin with many not having any ranked wins but the one thing Kentucky does have going for itself is all its losses have been to top 40 teams so those don't hurt as much.

Trying to figure out 75 and below would be too time consuming. Only reason I know Kentucky falls in that bucket is one of my teams that I was figuring out had 4 top 75 wins and then Kentucky was the 5th best so to get the number right they had to get 10 points for a win over Kentucky and 10 points means ranked between 96-105.

Overranked (i know right now the rankings are mostly right cause numbers don't lie but just a feeling)
- Duke at 2
- Illinois at 3 (also they ve played the most toughest schedule and mostly won it)
- Ole Miss (i still wonder how they came into Top10..fun fact..their wins even get better...as UCLA and Florida climb up the rankings again..with luck Top8 is possible next week...ole miss really benefits their only losses were vs #1 and #2)
-Florida on #11 ??
- Vanderbilt on 14
- Tulsa on 26..they will not again get such a big win...
- USF on 17
- Indiana on 27..not really..

Teams ranked too low:
- Virginia
- UNC
- Baylor on 5...i feel they are real Top3
- Wake Forest on 20 behind Harvard, USF..
- Notre Dame
- Stanford (they are near the 40s...i think they are 10 places better at least)
- Okie State at 37
Memphis on 47
Tulane on 63..but there ive real the problem..they dont scheduled good teams they can beat....(i feel they should beat anyone between 25 and 40...or at least will have a very close game loss to Memphis did not helped..) they ve only Tulsa left on their schedule and the USF Invitational /spring break where i do not know which teams are there..aside of USF and Tulane..North Florida will be also there)

Tulane's singles is much stronger than their doubles. It will be interesting who they get matched up with at the USF Invite and how that plays out.

Virginia Tech, North Carolina and Northwestern are all looking at jumps into the top 15 this week (VT a little tougher to tell for sure since two of their wins are unranked).

Virginia should move up to #7.

Biggest drops in the top 25 are by Columbia, Vanderbilt, Notre Dame and UCLA

I had a feeling that I screwed up something on Vandy, because it didn't make sense for them to be dropping, but since the rankings are coming out tomorrow anyway I don't really care to go back and figure out what I messed up.

That's what I get for doing these at 12:30 at night

now the rankings look real better as the season goes on
Vanderbilt ahead of Ole Miss looks bad...Ole Miss swept them last week...
Columbia on #22 only is much too low. They are definitely Top15 team, maybe even near the Top10...but too bad schedule..

The Top10 teams are real better as the next ones, cannot think that Vanderbilt is as good as the teams ahead of them. UNC if healthy is another Top10 team (or Top11 then) and UCLA if everything is clicking the 12th team of the Top Group. Wow that will be FANTASTIC Ncaas this year !

NC State at 37 is way too low isn't it? Wow Stanford in danger of missing NCaas?

Clemson is 62 and Tulane is 63
i really think both are better as their rankings.
Clemson plays UVA at Vtech this weekend. Big chance vs Vtech to push their rankings, but can they really win? i doubt it.
Tulane travels to a 3-day-tournament at USF.
