Daminit! Now I have to try out another 20.00/set string. I just read the reviews and now I have to try it. Jeeesh!
P.S. At least I found it for 15.00/set.
I just used the TW comparison tool and Origin seems a better string to me, especially since I have used other NXT strings before and still find Origin one of my favorite "weird" strings.

X one is cool, it's very soft but it's too damn expensive and I went through it in under 4 sessions on 2 separate occasions. If you're dead set on trying out tecnifibre multis I love multifeel. It's just that that breaks very fast for me as well but it's cheaper and not overly powerful imo

Good string, very comfortable, lots of power, not much spin. It frays pretty fast once the coating is gone but holds tension pretty well.

it is definitely a premium/ expensive multi
we are finding that the laserfibre supreme 2.0 is a great multi also....
it is again, trial and error....lots of nice multis out there.

I bought a set of X-1 Biphase on sale in a local store. From what I read on this forum, sounds like it's powerful and comfortable but not great on spin potential? Also, it doesn't sound like hybrid set-up with poly or syn gut is not great due to X-1's gumminess? So it's better to go full bed with this string?

If you have a technique that emphasises topspin you won't have a problem. Djokovic notably used X-1 Biphase until 2008, and his forehand is anything but flat.

It's nice in a full bed if full bed Multis are your thing. You could throw it in the mains with a poly cross to try and improve the spin access. I am not sure how it would go in the crosses due to not being the slipperiest of strings. That being said some people like Natural Gut in the crosses with a poly main.
Tecnifibre HDX is a better multi to put in the crosses.

Used full x-1 in my Prince Tour 100 (16 x 19) at 57 for months. Former full poly user but elbow issues made me change equipment...
I like to take big toppy cuts (when I have time), and the spin was very, very good for a multi in addition to what’s known about its power, comfort, and feel.
It’s just $20/set. Technifibre Multi feel is half as much and not bad at all. I plan to try out Head Velocity and maybe Multifeel, as they’re both good and affordable.
Will be trying out a multi mains/Zyex crosses setup at around 57/57 tension for dubs, so I’ll report back. (For singles, I’m sold on the Kev/zyx big tension differentials.)
So x-1 has very nice spin in full setup, as long as (like already mentioned) your stroke production lends its to spin.

I agree. It’s a good string but loses tension quickly. I tried Prince Premier Control and Kirschbaum Touch. To me the Kirschbaum is a far superior multi. Very comfy nice power, more spin friendly than most multis and held its tension very well. It wasn’t until I had about 12-15 hours of hitting with it before I noticed balls were starting to sail.
I’m going to string it up with a round poly in the crosses. After playing with a LiveWire and poly hybrid I think that it should work very well for me.

I tried using it as a cross with Head Hawk in the mains. It didn’t seem to affect spin potential very much but I may have strung too tight.
I think if you’re looking for comfort and power with a little more spin and control you would want poly in the crosses and X1 in the mains. But personally I think there are better cheaper choices for a multi than X1.

I was so happy at the time I was using x1 just to be able to play, that I likely overlooked its tension maintenance. Lasted decent while for me iirc and i’m a string breaker. There are better bangs for your buck out there for sure...
Ah Kirshbaum...my old topspin concubine. Used Pro Line 2 for years and loved it! Ended up going to MSV focus hex for $ reasons. I’m not surpassed Kirsh makes a nice multi that spins well, considering how much spin those Kirsh polys had I used: Supersmash honey, spikey, competition, PL2, etc. and all a good price. Maybe I will try the Touch!
Hated PPC, though. seemed deader than a doornail.

PPC felt like polyester but didn’t play like poly. Sort of like the worst of both worlds. Also broke quickly. X1 does have some sublime feel. If I had arm troubles I would definitely give it a try. I imagine if you strung it fairly loose in an OS frame you could just punch the ball from wherever you were on court. A lot of older doubles players play like that. Nought wrong with it. Any tennis is better than none.

There is a big difference in playability between the 17 and 16 in my opinion. Relative to the power, the 16 gauge doesn't offer enough spin potential to consistently keep the ball in with bigger cuts. The 17 offers a significant upgrade in spin compared to the 16. This experience is based off of using in a PS85 btw.. With a more open pattern, you'd probably be fine with the 16.
The 16 is slightly more durable, but both strings start to fray at roughly the same time. The slight loss in durability didn't outweigh the increased playability of the 17 gauge for me.

According to the TWU database the 16 gauge has significantly less spin potential. So unless you break strings a lot I would go with the 17. And get red. It looks cool.

This would be in a Pure Aero Tour; I was thinking of trying the 17g X-1 full bed at 48 lbs. At 67 with arthritis and torn rotator cuffs, I need an arm-friendly string that can add a little punch to my serves and ground strokes. 17g Silverstring has been good, but I'd like to find something better if it's out there. Hard to beat Silverstring's durability, though.

48 lbs is probably a little low for a multi. The string bed would turn into a trampoline at that tension with biphase, especially using the PAT. Biphase is super comfy, even at 60 lbs. If you want to go low, maybe low 50s would be a good place to start. You'll plenty of extra pop compared to SS regardless of the tension you use.
