Tecnifibre Multi-Feel review

Hi,

I know this string isn't the newest or best multi string out there, just wanted to share my thoughts on it, so here we go. Feedback is much appreciated as I am new to this :)

I originally was using the Wilson Ultimate duo hybrid set strung with the luxilon in the mains at 57 lbs and the NXT in the Crosses at 55 lbs. I also had leaded my racket in the throat. I got some shoulder problems and needed something softer and more comfortable so I took the lead out and opted for the Multi-Feel at gauge 16 (1.30mm).

I hit the ball with average spin and a fair level of power.

Strung this in a Six One Team at 54lbs. It was slightly more difficult to string than a Prince Synthetic Gut but easy none the less. It has lost about 6-7 lbs tension after playing about 5 hours and this is good for a multi. It is starting to fray a bit and has some minor notches. It doesn't seem to be as durable as NXT which lasted me 3 months and didn't look so worn so early in.

I felt you had to take a reasonable swing at the ball to achieve depth. When I really hit it hard, it had a average level of power. The feel was crisp and there defiantly wasn't as much shock transferred to the shoulder as was the case in my previous setup. There was less spin for me, but the control level was very good.

The volleys felt very good and were very easy to place where I wanted. On the serve I felt it lacked slightly. I wasn't able to achieve the same speed I am used to but when I really swung it was almost there. My slice serve didn't seem to kick as much. On serve returns it enabled me to use the pace for a reasonable level of power that may have been slightly harder to achieve on my old setup due to multi-feel being allot softer.

Overall, this string is good value for money at only £7. It is very soft and great for those will arm or shoulder problems. The control is excellent and the feel of the string is like a crisp natural gut but less lively.

It is really crisp feeling; solid on volley and serves; my ground strokes were very coming in with a decent amount of spin to them.
I have used polys in the past which really were killing my arm so I made the switch to multis. Tecnifibre Multifeel is a comfortable, soft but very lively playing string. The ball just seems to fly off the racket, especially nailing it right on the sweet spot, and it felt like a hot knife going through butter.
Even playing on clay courts, the strings didn't move a lot or at all! Which was great!
These are now my choice for multis!

Thanks for the review. My findings are very similar, except that the string is great for spin once it breaks in, after 2 hours of playtime. And as you said, the playability feels gut-like.

I'll be trying this string out in about 2 weeks. Sounds like a typical multi from your description except that it has a crisp feel.

Three positive reviews so far - that's encouraging.

Is everyone more or less in agreement that its relatively low powered for a multi, and control orientated?

Anyone able to make a comparison with Xcel and Gosen OG at the equivalent tension / same racquet etc?

I can vouch for its being low powered, control oriented, and soft feeling with lots of dwell time. It also has excellent tension retention.
I noticed that Xcel is much more expensive.
