Tecnifibre Official - Strings

fwiw, just two days ago I strung up my first ever set of HDMX in my own frame and though I think I missed on the tension it could be a new favorite.

Triax really interests me now — very much looking forward to a go with this one, too.

Hi AceyMan. Thank you for trying HDMX! It is one of my personal favorites! One of our most technological strings to date......until Triax :). Please know that HDMX is a softer FUSION string, while TRIAX is firmer & more durable. If you snag a set, please let me know your experience. Helps me learn!

@Tecnifibre Official

Any chance you could bring back HDX Tour in 1.30 and 1.35mm reels? Did HDX Tour not sell well enough or was there feedback that lead to it being morphed into HDMX?

I never quite understood the 20 pack box packaging personally. Absolutely hate throwing away 3.5' feet of string when I use it as a cross. The only string that shouldn't come in a reel is Natural Gut.
Hi g4driver. Unfortunately, the ship has sailed on HDX Tour. While it sold well and was widely accepted - it did morph into HDMX for the reason you struggled with. HDX Tour never came on reels - for reasons I won't get into - so it was re-processed into HDMX so it could come on reels. Vague I know, but please know that HDMX is the exact same construction, just processed differently so it could be a more consistent string over longer lengths (i.e. Reels).

Thanks for the feedback. As a stinger reels are important. I have two reels of HDMX 1.35mm, but HDX Tour feels less muted to me. I personally like X1 over NRG2, and yes one can feel the difference between X1 and NRG2.

Not sure what the process is for HDMX, but it has muted the feel compared to HDX Tour.

Hi Automatix. Thank you for your posts and kind words about our presence here on the boards.
Give credit where credit is due. I'm not as active as I used to but I think you're doing a splendid job here and hope you keep it up. It's a pleasure reading your posts - the most recent example is the change from HDX Tour to HDMX. No, sorry for the word, bs marketing explanation just an honest answer - sold OK, couldn't produce in reels, had to be tweaked.

Starting soon you will see opportunities to get the string just prior to launch. Not sure If I'm allowed to say where & when - but keep an eye open on TW :). I would kindly ask if you are so inclined to purchase a set and let's reconnect and chat about your experience. Proof is in the pudding!
If I'm able to play I'm definitely going to try it. Cheers!

Tennis is such a game of sensations - that I'm not surprised by your finding. For me, it is the opposite! Who knows and perhaps why we need to keep connecting on these message boards!

Hi. I am so sorry.....somehow I missed a whole bunch of posts! Yikes, I'm horrible at this. But I'm here!

For me, I would give the old reliable Red Code a whirl if you liked Red Code Wax. Let me know if you end up trying it and what your feedback is. Perhaps we can continue the conversation from there.
Bought 4 of PRCW to last me 2 years I think. Will worry mess with strings later. Thanks.

Could you tip us off if there might be a coupon offer for USRSA (or other regional guilds) members upcoming (if there isn't already/or in the works).

I'll def order a couple of sets next time I resupply, but as grandpa used to say, "My favorite price is free." :D

Would you elaborate on the reason why the HDX Tour didn't come in reels? Was it a chemical manufacturing issue or a monetary one? I am inquisitive by nature and have a finance degree and the background of a cost analyst. Was it too difficult to make consistently in 660' lengths? I have no background in chemicals or manufacturing but am curious. Hoping Triax feels closer to HDX Tour.

Hi ptennisb. Thank you for your questions. In regards to the reel of Razor Code. Not sure I can answer this - unless you can tell me who you purchased it from on ****. I can see if they are an authorized dealer. However, I would discourage buying from there for the exact reasons you say.

On paper, Red Code is a softer poly (vs Razor Code). It has a outer resin which will help with snapback also. Enjoy and let me know your experience with it!
Thank You for answering my questions. I enormously appreciate this thread, and how well it is monitored. In my eyes, brands like Head, Wilson, and Babolat have lost their touch with their customers. Everything Tecnifibre that I use is a great product, and they, along with Yonex, make me feel like I actually matter to them with little touches like these. I actually tried the Red Code, and to me, it feels like a more crisp. responsive string than razor code. One more question, does Tecnifibre still make the Pro Overgrip Slim. Recently tried it instead of my go-to Head Super Comp, and I really like it. Thanks again.

Hi Again! Thank you for the generous words about Tecnifibre. They truly are a special brand and company (and in many ways a family). What country are you located in? In the US we don't offer the Pro Contact Slim, but if my memory serves me - I believe Europe may still offer it. Hope it helps!

That's unfortunate, but still thank you very much!

Typically with poly, strings go "dead" after 8-12 hours, does the same apply to Triax? Does Triax string go dead?

Exactly the same feeling for me g4driver. HDX Tour was the most lively multi of all, a true 'synthetic guts'. It's been a big loss and I am still looking for a replacement string. I have tried X-one biphase, HDMX and TRIAX and others but they are more muted as you said. It seems the main difference with other multi is the high efficiency coefficient given by tennis warehouse in the comparison string tool, where HDX Tour stands out and was similar to gut. Maybe gut is the sole alternative after such unique and fantastic multi string?

What gauge of the HDX Tour did you use?

Quick question: if I string my 98 head 16*19 racquet normally with a syngut or multi at 24/23k and a relatively stiff poly at around 21k, where would you start with HDMX? I have a set lying around, which I would like to try (in 16 gauge). Would you string it more as a multi, or more towards the poly end of the tension?

-more like this "syngut or multi at 24/23k "
-tw has a video of this string, where they say its more like a multi

Does RPX come in reels? I don't even see this string listed on Tecnfibre's website. Only HDMX and Triax which I buy in reels.

Have to make the hard pass on Duramix. I think this might have been the first-gen of fused strings back from 2011 or 2012. Probably discontinued soon if not already. Can't imagine Duramix finding a home with RPX, HDMX and Triax available

RPX is US (? NA) distribution only and also only in sets, from my readings.

p.s. rumor is¹ it's bad patches of Triax that they red-flagged in manufacturing and snipped out and sold as sets. Triax Tonic, you might say.

¹—aka, my own personal theory

It's true I hardly feel the difference between the 2 but the Triax makes some weird noise when I pull tension on it while I didn't hear that noise with the RPX.

Any difference between razor code colors?
I think the newest of them, white (Medvedev's choise) that is, is a bit livelier than the blue. Haven't tried any other color. Good control strings with very little free power. If you want a bit more pop, try the Ice Code. It offers brilliant control with great spin for a round poly but is pretty powerful. One of my favourite strings in low powered racquets. It looks pretty stiff on paper but the coating makes it pretty comfortable too, a lot more comfortable than Razor Code.

I do like Ice Code 17 a lot in my TC95 18x20 precisely for the reasons you gave: decent spin for a round poly and quite powerful, which helps in a tight string bed. Comfort is OK, but a 18x20 strung with full poly can still be a bit harsh, so I have put Triax 16 in the crosses, and it is a very plush set-up, with decent durability too.

I don't know why more people aren't using Multifeel 16 Black. It has become my "go to" main string in all but the densest string patterns. It lasts just the right amount of time, is playable for its entire life, and slides well right up until it breaks.

I tried Multifeel 16/cream 17 hybrid and it felt way too stiff for me. I strung it 42/38 (I usually string polys 38/36) and it did not feel comfortable at all in my VCP97…very strange

To each his own. I don't like soft feeling strings. Multifeel stays crisp until it breaks. That... I like.
