Tell me we are not watching crap tennis

Slams won without beating one of the 3 highest ranked opponents:

Federer 10
Djokovic 0

ok dude, can you name please which one of the 3 highest ranked opponents Novak defeated at the following slams:
AO 2015
W 2014

and while we are at this topic, perhaps you want to say something about the ranking of the opponents Novak faced and lost at. Something about how many of the below slams included encounters with top 3 ranked opponents:
USO 2019
RG 2018
AO 2018
W 2017
RG 2017
AO 2017
USO 2014
RG 2013
USO 2012
W 2010
RG 2010

i agree.
never ceases to amaze me how ppl cant appreciate any tennis at this level is great. they are tracking balls down no one else can. these guys are young give it some time. Im a fedfan and he was a mess as a young guy. once tsitsi gets a haircut and a barilla sponsorship he’ll give you something more entertaining possibly. if you’re expecting a strokes of genius type match every night go hit the cbd and mellow out, it’s going to be a while. in the meantime lets see who can rise up

The next few years will be really enjoyable. Djokovic, Nadal and Federer are still there and now we have Medvedev, Thiem, Tsitsipas, Zverev challenging them in every slam, great tennis ahead!

Good tennis tonight from both of the Women's semis. Only blip was Serena's MTO.
Some of Serena's best hitting in months. Kudos to Vika for being able to go toe to toe and then take over the match.

@Lew II do you have anything to answer?
or do you officially agree that your claim that your claim that Novak defeated a top 3 ranked opponent while winning slams is a fake just like every other claim that you're making?

ok dude, can you name please which one of the 3 highest ranked opponents Novak defeated at the following slams:
AO 2015
W 2014
AO 2015 --> Wawrinka was the third highest ranked opponent (#1 Federer, #2 Nadal, #3 Wawrinka)
WI 2014 --> Federer was the third highest ranked opponent (#1 Nadal, #2 Wawrinka, #3 Federer)

AO 2015 --> Wawrinka was the third highest ranked opponent (#1 Federer, #2 Nadal, #3 Wawrinka)
WI 2014 --> Federer was the third highest ranked opponent (#1 Nadal, #2 Wawrinka, #3 Federer)

as you can't be mistaken, I believe that ATP is mistaken.
According to them, Wawrinka was ranked #4 at the AO 2015
And Fed was ranked #4 at the W 2014

that is the same logic when you bash Fed cause of his record vs opponents ranked #1 or #2, isn't it?
when Novak is #1, his top 3 ranked opponents can be: himself, #2 and #3.
If we keep consistency Lew, #4 is #4, and does not fit into the top 3.

beyond this.
what can you say about the ranking of opponents Noak faced at the following slams:
USO 2019
RG 2018
AO 2018
W 2017
RG 2017
AO 2017
USO 2014
RG 2013

''top3 ranked opponents'' =/= ''top3 ranked players''

You perfectly understand what I'm saying but you grasp at straws not to deal with the fact that Djokovic beat higher ranked opponents than Federer.

Everyone has losses to lower ranked players. Federer has plenty.

''top3 ranked opponents'' =/= ''top3 ranked players''

weak straw argument.
as if it is the winner issue if the top 3 opponents lose to the field.

a better question is if the top 3 ranked opponents were lined up at the beginning of the tournament.

Everything has gone so quiet. There is no uproar anymore on this forum. No more threads how tennis sucks, weak era.

For me, that's a mystery. Anybody knows the reason? It's really weird how it all changes suddenly.

isn't it a surprising coincidence with when school began?
and in some countries kids have to go to the school actually, no more distance education.

well yeah everyone new has obviously sucked azz since like 2015 but now it's just funny

fed and nad are ancient and are finally ducking out and its funny seeing djoker out there just cleanly about three gears better than anyone else, can just coast on 20% power
"nuthin personnel kids, champ coming through, maybe get good yeah?"

got that default, eh who even cares, not like theres gonna be any better opponents next year either

seeing djoks name on the scoreboard is funny now too

1 Djokovic
Some guy

He's basically the player character in a game world of AI opponents. Even most of the faithful supporting cast have ducked out now or become journeymen

my question wasn't about the ranking of the opponent to whom he lost.
question was about the ranking of opponents faced during the tournament. wanna try again?

@Lew II do you have anything to say or you finally acknowledge that Novak got his more than fair share of vultured tournaments? speaking in terms of Wonderland word choice

Wow, that was the worst semifinal I’ve ever seen. That made Zverev’s previous match against Coric look like Fedal.

If this is what tennis is going to look like after the Big 3, I’m out.

The Zverev-PCB semi today has to take the award for the most boring 5-setter ever in the late stages of a Slam. So many errors off neutral balls, hardly any memorable rallies, no close sets and even when Zverev was 2-sets down, it seemed like PCB wasn’t good enough to win the match unless Zverev handed it to him with DFs. The Thiem-Med semi was good tennis and it is a pity that Med sprayed errors in the TBs and lost in straight sets. But, certainly not as compelling as watching the Big3 play or even watching Thiem against Djokodal. Thiem plus Djokodal might be the Big3 for the next couple of years unless Zverev solves his 2nd-serve issues.

I watched the PCB Zverev match on delay on the DVR, so I was only referring that in the above post.

The second semi was fine. Normal tennis. They were both tight, especially Medvedev, but that’s fine.

Obviously Zverev is a very good player, but I don’t know if he’ll get his head fixed anytime soon. Certainly not by Sunday

Actually I am quite happy, I fell asleep at the start of the third set and only woke up during the last game in the decider.

Have to thank the Lord for small mercies

hey @Lew II where are you dude?
do you have anything to comment about the ranking of opponents faced by Novak at the above mentioned GS?
or do you finally acknowledge that Novak is the biggest beneficiary of the weakest era ever in tennis?

We have been spoiled for a while. After the decade and a half saga I witnessed it is strange to have a 5 set slam final that just isn't very interesting.

Fed had a weak
Excellent post.

This is the WEAKEST ERA in 35 years of watching tennis. These next gen make Roddick, Hewitt, Safin look like GODS.

If someone EVER tells me that Fed won slams in a WEAK ERA -- I will SCREAM.

If Fed had a weak era, what is this exactly? Is this even an era?
Fed was in a week era and this is a ****-poor era
