Tennis Anyone??

Hello All Tennis Folks:

I was wondering where you are located and can you play tennis in your area? I am in WNY.. about 8 hours from NYC. We do not have indoor clubs open at the moment but if the weather permits we are ok to play singles only on public courts. County and State parks of course. Towns and villages seem to be doing what they want with their courts. Some HS courts are open.. others are locked or they have removed the nets. With all the talk about opening up the USA.. I thought this was an interesting topic. Our indoor clubs are closed until at least May 15th as part of a general order from the Governor. The other thing is in NYS you can play golf on private courses with strict rules. Many of our country clubs also have tennis courts... I was wondering if those would be open to singles play also? The private golf courses are offering no bathrooms, club house, pro shop or meeting areas for food or drink. You have to walk the course ... be a single only in a golf cart. You can also use a pull cart or carry your bag. They have also opened private boating marinas. All camping areas are also off limits. Just a few extra details..

I hope everyone is safe..

I'm near Turin, Italy. We've been locked down since early Febuary. No tennis, soccer, basketball..etc. You can only walk/jog for 30-40 minutes in the proximity of your own home and that's about it. We're about to enter a Fase 2 which basically will be an attempt to slowly get back to normality. Some factories and workplaces will be opening with reduced hours and personnel. I for one, have been fortunate enough to have continued to work since the breakout. Keeps me on a regular schedule and sane. It's been pretty dismal here the last 2 months. I can't even imagine what it must be like in the U.S. Let's hope the best. (y)

I feel for you personally because I spent nearly three years as a “neighbor” of yours in Vicenza decades ago before world pandemic was a fact of life or death.

Stay strong in this era of doubt. I live in an area not beset by the magnitude of calamity that you are experiencing but my “contribution” to tackling the global mess we’re facing is to stay at home and keeping the “stiff upper lip” bromide from my British genes, provided I camouflage that lip behind an appropriate facial mask when I delve into social contact.

The British call it stoicism

I have no ancestral home, unlike @Sentinel who has a mansion.
Silly, he means where your ancestors lived, for example, where your father still lives. Does not have to be a physical house.

Like my ancestors came from Central Asia according to my father, but my brother now suggests that they actually fled some Roman king and got shipwrecked off the Konkan Coast and were actually Jews. How we became Brahmins, either way, beats me !

I'm in NYC. My park is locked up. But I was responsible while playing before the shutdown. Had a random dude roll up to me and asked if he could practice with me. I said he can have the court, I'm about to head out (which I was anyway as I had been there for about an hour). And he said no he's having problems finding people to practice with. I suck so I wouldn't be practice for anyone lol. Better safe than sorry, I don't wanna make any contact in case I have it. I don't have any symptoms and I'm relatively healthy but a lot of healthy people have been asymptomatic.

Can't front though, I miss the competitiveness that I need with bball

I played today. I hit high lobs and then ran quickly to the other side of the net. The dude on the other side missed.
