Tennis ball toss, kinda fun, means nothing..

Hey guys. This means NOTHING as far as tennis ability goes....
68 degree air, no breeze, kinda muggy, rain coming.
Back fence is 19' 3" behind baseline, set back another 5' for a 5' high garden. Total height of fence from court level is exactly 19' 4", measured with a contractors 25' tape with two guys.
Used 4 old DunlopHardcourtHD's. Standing at the baseline, service feet position, Just ran over after a Joe's Special (spinich, hamberger, and 3 eggs) to the local RoseGardenCourts.
Of course, no warmups.
First toss, lands at cement barrier, 4' high, a line drive. Oops, that was a first serve motion. Feet STAY behind baseline.
Second toss some adjustment, lots higher, lands in middle of fence, maybe 12' off the courts.
Third toss, I'm pee'd. I still stand at service position, feet in serve prep position, think "twist or kicker" arc. Goes over the fence by maybe 5', feet actually went over the baseline about a foot.
4th toss, I remember I close my eyes on my longest throws, goes well over the fence, easily 8' or so clearance.
Now a bystander asks me what I'm doing. He tosses an OLD skin ball, but it's wet, but it's HARDER than my Dunlops to me. "Try this", he says.
5th toss, actually went over the fence of the fence BEHIND my court, exactly the width farther than a tennis court (it used to be a practice court), fence there maybe 14' high, into the side of the house back there.
For what it's worth, I DID NOT move feet except to pinpoint like my serves, but I DID land about 18" inside the baseline on the last toss.

I have no clue what event you are trying to describe here.

I believe he's saying that he went at threw some type of ball at the tennis courts he frequents. At said courts, there is a large wall (around 20 feet tall). The post goes on to describe each of his three throws.

haha, anyone else reminded of an old relative that starts off telling some story and just keeps on going.

by the time he's done you just kind of nod and then walk away not realizing what the hell he just said, you're not even sure if he was asking a question or telling a story, LOL

And therein lies exactly why most of you don't understand anything printed, written, or posted.
It's much too complicated for your feeble minds to embrace ....:):)

your writing sucks Lee..... with 144 IQ and a PhD, my mind shouldn't fall in the feeble category... but still couldn't figure out what you were trying to describe.

Yeah, that's a tough one for most of you to understand. It was actually directed at SuperDuy, with some possible interest from you also.
Remember how you mentioned you cannot toss a tennis ball from baseline over the fence behind an imaginary opponent?
Keep that in mind when you later read my post again.
I think I mentioned a while ago, on a windless day, with FIVE steps moving forwards, I can toss a tennis ball from baseline of my court, over the backfence, over the next net of the adjoining court, and over that back baseline, but not over the baseline fence (which is about 15' high).
Don't understand that paragraph? Of course not. Why should I expect more?

Sometimes, you gotta use your imagination to connect the dots.
Say.... no steps, service position (which is not the best for throwing a tennis ball), the ball goes over the fence. Where does it land? First, I'll let you think about that one for a second.
Now add about 50' to the total distance. Is that so hard? Ball at zenith is easily 60' high, so fence clearance is not an issue.

BMC, I always throw without warmup because it's the first natural state of anyone's arm. Given adaquate warmup, yes, I can throw much farther.
YOU may warmup and stretch as much as you want, then compare your throws to mine (privately, if you're shy).
A tennis ball throw is not good for anyone's arm, warmed up or not. Notice I threw less than 5 total, period.

No thanks. I don't doubt your tennis-ball-chucking ability. :-? Don't see how throwing a ball as hard as you can is the "first natural state of anyone's arm". Not really even sure that that means.

Say you're out and about walking with your honey.
You happen to have mentioned that you have an arm, sometime in the courting stage, later, or earlier.
So she picks up a rock for you to toss. Are you going to warmup with 20 tosses before throwing the ONE rock she wants tossed? Are you going to jog for a mile, do 30 pushups, a few chinups, a few situps to WARMUP before your toss?
Are you?

Ah, the chuck-something-to-impress-a-girl scenario. Sure, if you're 12 and it's 1952, I can see it.:)

Some of us are ******** and still living in the past.
We are not all completely and currently evolved human beings....at least on this bulletin site.

I am a very old fart who has to convince young girls that I have something to offer them, so I always resort to my tennis ball throwing prowess.

Roman legionaries were well trained to throw javelins and they wouldnt have the time or luxury to spend a good time warming up for the throw.

Warming up is a luxury, if you have time to warm up it is very likely you are not fighting an opponent to the death.

ProgressoR, I like your thinking.
Warmups means it's fun and games, of no consequence. First time first try, that means it's real.

Are you talking about the rose garden domond?

If I have understood, you were throwing tennis balls with feet planted to see how far they would go, from the baseline? You mean throwing over hand or tossing meaning underhand.

Hey SuperDuy, where ya been?
Absent since the football throw vid.
Yeah, middle court, RoseGarden. Some guys here make a stink about not taking steps, like a tennis serve, so I tried a few. You know that sideways court behind the middle court. Threw that wet skin ball over the fence there and hit the side of the house about 18' high. That's service position, landing about 18" inside the baseline. Pinpoint.
At the SanPabloCourts, normal alignment, after the 3rd throw, could hit the backfence of the court behind the one I tossed from, with 4 steps.
Gotta be overhand to impart backspin. Side or under dives the ball after zenith.

That is the extended pushup.
Unfortunately, that wimpy dude beats me.
I did 18 to best BobWise of WiseSurfboards in the early '80's.
At CrissyFields to impress the chicks, I did 12 around 3 years ago.
I can probably do less than 10 right now.
That dude doesn't push all the way up, nor does he go all the way down like we did.
