Tennis Channel is Getting Worse

Anyone becoming more and more spiteful towards tennis channel. At first I thought it was great to get “first ball to last ball coverage”. But it’s become bad for tennis. They aren’t even showing Montreal, Indian wells, Miami or Cincinnati at all on ESPN or a different main steam sports network like fox sports. I don’t know how much of it is ESPN deciding not to show much tennis or Tennis Channel trying to aggressively secure the rights of all events.

I think Tennis channel needs to get together with a ESPN or fox sports and try to at least get big masters semis or finals on there. Unless your a big tennis fan your not gonna no what tennis channel is or have the package for it. There hogging everything and stoping people from watching tennis who aren’t big fans.

Also, with TC + which I refuse to get. I feel like there purposefully showing me a boring match over the most interesting match at times. Like showing Coco Gauff, Shelby Rodgers and Madison Key’s over a match up of two top 20 atp players. Or showing a no body play Stefanos or Danil over a 3 set match between two great players.

I’m not gonna even talk about pickle ball being shown.

Their choices are so bad sometimes that I figured they must not have the full rights to some tournaments. One example would be when Paris was going on and they'd show a lopsided WTA match in an empty stadium instead of showing two top 20 males with a tight scoreline. They'd cut to Paris to show bits and pieces, but would return to the women's match soon after. While I think they have the rights to Paris, they don't have the rights to all moments of all matches.

I subscribed to TennisTV for a while, but ESPN and TTC have enough of the other tournaments that it became too annoying to monitor when to cancel what for which tournament. I also genuinely enjoy Jim Courier's commentary and wish that TTC would get their stuff together.

beIN SPORTS covers 250s, 500s and Masters, of ATP and WTA.

Don't really see how ESPN's decision to cover fewer tennis events has anything to do with the Tennis Channel--it's not their fault.

ATP Tennis TV is simple, no-frills service and although it only shows ATP tournaments it is the best choice as it shows all ATP 250, 500 and 1000 tournaments, without advertising and the matches are always available to watch as replays... No Grand Slams though, so one needs something else for those... The new LG TV app is crap though and keels over often.

I'm thinking of jumping ship from Tennis Channel Plus and joining Tennis TV. How much is Tennis TV in US dollars?
You will need to check how much it costs in your country.

I think I paid around $150 AUD annual fee for mine but cannot remember the exact price.

Thanks a bunch.

Y'all will miss the PPA Tour Hyundai Invitational sponsored by Skechers & Ben-Gay next month.

I believe they are owned by Sinclair media, which also owns Bally sports network (terrible) and I don't see it getting any better. I wish there was an alternative in the US, but no real solution at the moment.

Sinclair closed down then sold the rights to Ring of Honor wrasslin' a crime of great magnitude.

I have been since 2019. Screw 'em! I stopped subscribing when they didn't show a Fed match at 2019 Wimbledon and showed some crap with Coco Gauff or someone of that ilk.

Seriously?
A Federer Wimbledon match wasn't on TV in 2019? What would ESPN have been showing?

It was his second round match against Jay Clarke. They showed some of it then switched to WTA garbage, then switched back right at the end of the Fed-Clarke match.

I sucked it up and re-subscribed for next year because I want to follow Rune's matches.

The announcing/analysts are what are horrid for me. ESPN's are ABYSMAL as well, but Tennis Channel is supposed to be the better alternative (due to it being Tennis-centric)...but you get AWFUL Brett Haber and Jim Courier (who NEVER shuts up) blithering through most big matches. I like Chanda Rubin, but she can over-analyze at times. And bringing in Pam Shriver was just the WORST thing TC could've done

They don't have the right to Wimbledon. So they aren't showing any of that real time.

They should hire John Alexander, he's the best tennis commentator I've ever heard, he only speaks when he has something smart to say.
But he became a politician after that, but he's retired from politics now so could go back to tennis commentary.

I still like the Fed idea. I say sell to him or bringing him in and give him a piece of the action.

I bet we will get better tennis coverage as he understands tennis and he will make money doing it.

Roger may have his hands full,

You can literally see Federer's face in both his twin girls

If Federer commentates I hope he speaks a lot slower than he does in interviews.
I know a lot of commentators speak as fast as Federer, but that doesn't make it right.
Agassi is way too busy probably, but he'd be an epic commentator.

I would like various weekly shows. Maybe a Roddick show where he is just hanging out with weekly guests and talking about the past tournament and the next upcoming events. Bring in tennis enthusiasts from other sports and get their feedback on the sport. Bring in past players... Grab a beer with Borg and chat about tennis this type of thing

There are so many things they can do to make the channel more interesting vs. overdubbing from California the latest match from some far eastern country.

Seriously, when was the last time we actually saw some actual content from them?
