Hey!
Could you help me find an affordable tennis coach that will help me shape up my game?
I'm a 4.5-ish player and have started playing ota tournaments. But I haven't had a lesson in ages and I think I need one. but I don't know how to find a good coach since I'm not a member in any indoor clubs.

I appreciate any help anyone can give me!

Cheers!

Hi Rreza,

I can recommend several coaches to you since I live in the Toronto area however your main concern is actually getting a place to practice and play. It's too late to sign up now but I would recommend the NYTA, it's cheap and a winter only club. The fitness institute is a good bet as well.

If you want to spend a little more money and get full on exercise and tennis facility the Mayfairs are decent bang for your buck.

Of course then you have the B&R, Lawn, Cricket, Boulevard and the Granite. If you can afford those you probably would be asking for about coach would you?

A better time to be looking for a coach would be the summer time. You won't have to pay court fees and just the lesson fee. I've had a lot of coaches but names like Adam Baraknowski and John McMannis are 2 of my favs.

Wow, you are the gps of the Toronto tennis club. May I know where Adam and John teach?

I believe currently Adam is teaching in Mississauga and John McManus at the Toronto Tennis City (formerly known as Greenwin). In the summer, John also teaches at East York TC.

Very much so. I did some work with him this summer with my friend Kim. (what was a ranked junior Down Under).

So NYTA and SWTC membership is full. So I checked out Veneto. Seems pretty legit.

but these coaches you're telling us about.. how do you get a hold of them? and what are their rates?

Thanks again!

I would contact their clubs meadowdale and toronto tennis city. You can usually leave Voice Mail directly to them. Some clubs outside their membership to do lessons with their pros. Remember they will charge court fees plus coaching fees. This can add up to 70-80 bucks a lesson. Sometimes it worth it find someone your level to do a joint lesson, much cheaper especially in the long run. Live ball > fed ball, well in most cases anyhow.
