Tennis.Com number one women's match of the decade

Do you agree? I do. And also one of the biggest upsets EVER in tennis.
There is also a link to the Top Ten matches they picked.
I agree, because this match prevented the only meaningful event of the decade in women’s tennis at all (Serena winning the CYGS). So the match itself was the most meaningful event.

Seem they've mistaken significance for quality.

Definitely number 1 for significance but not top 10 or even top 30 for match level etc.

The whole list is a lot like that.

Ostapenko defeating Halep in the 2017 RG final as the 4th best match of the decade? No way. Monumental choking, 54 unforced errors by one player, only 8 winners by the other. Not high quality at all.

Meanwhile, this years Aus Open final between Osaka and Kvitova was fantastic and that was down at #9? No way.

Exactly, it wasn't even the best match of that US Open :D

That's a fair point. But generally when people look back on the greatest matches, it's normally a match of consequence with a championship at stake i.e. Borg/McEnroe 1980 Wimbledon.
I can honestly say I can't remember much about the Osaka/Kvitova match this year, but I remember the Vinci/Williams match vividly. And this was a match with a GS on the line.
That's history. And timeless.
But I get others would pick a match just for the quality of play.

These lists for me are both mixed bags with the occasional inspired pick totally offset by some bizarre picks clearly driven by how dramatic or famous they are with little consideration for how good they were. That the Isner-Mahut match is even on the list is a joke, but that it places above the 2018 semi final is gut bustingly hilarious, and that number 1 choice? Two choked tiebreaks, two basically tanked sets = match of the decade. Pathetic.

I think the womens list is better considering the 8 I have seen, but there's lots of other badass choices that could have easily featured here, and didn't involve Serena freezing like a rabbit in the headlights in the final set.

These were my personal favorite WTA matches of the decade:

Incredible fight by both players till the very last point

One of the best Henin-Clijsters matches, which says A LOT

The quality of this match was worthy of a GS finals

The best match of Ana's career

Like them or not, this match featured two of the tour's greatest fighters going neck-to-neck in a GS finals

How could I forget this one

And this one - Caroline is a slam champion at last!

The Kvitova/Venus sequel (if you think about it, even though their '14 Wimby match was a R3 match, it was really the de-facto finals)

Two of cleanest ball-strikers in their gen

Thanks!!! Honestly I don't agree with much of this list.

My personal list would probably be:
1. Djokovic-Nadal, 2012 AO
2. Nadal-Djokovic, 2013 RG
3. Djokovic-Wawrinka, 2013 AO
4. Djokovic-Nadal, 2018 WI
5. Djokovic-Federer, 2019 WI
6. Nadal-Medvedev, 2019 US
7. Nadal-Dimitrov, 2017 AO
8. Federer-Nadal, 2017 AO
9. Federer-Djokovic, 2011 RG
10. Nadal-Thiem, 2018 US

HM:
Djokovic-Del Potro, 2013 WI
Djokovic-Federer, 2010/11 US
Nadal-Del Potro, 2018 WI
Isner-Mahut, 2010 WI
Djokovic-Murray, 2012 AO
Del Potro-Thiem, 2017 US
Wawrinka-Djokovic, 2014 AO
Wawrinka-Stefenos, 2019 RG

I listed out some of my fav WTA matches above so there's not much point in me listing them again :)

I don't think Wimbledon 2019 final will last in memories down the lane like aus open 2012 final even quality wise aus open was much better.

The match that packed the most drama, excitement, the most riding on it in either men's or women's....was Serena getting smoked by 300-1 long shot Roberta Vinci at the U.S Open. Serena had beaten Vinci fairly easily in prior matches. This was suppose to be a cakewalk to the CYGS for Serena, but her nerves got the better of her. A big choke that is rivaled only by Serena's last 4 slam final loses.

I'd probably put Serena's last 4 slam losses in that top 10 list as well... at least the 2018 U.S Open blow up with the chair umpire. That image of Serena saying she isn't a cheater will live in infamy. But, they were all huge matches with history on the line. Tieing and trying to beat Margaret Court's slam record.
