Support Tennis Companies Only!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok, yes I am new, and I am probably going to upset a lot of people, but I come and visit the TW message boards all the time...I learn a lot reading from everyone. So thanks for this. Anyway, I was thinking.... uh ooo here I go.

I am sure the economic times are hitting everyone pretty hard... the way I figure it, its time to take care of your own. I would assume that the true tennis brands, Wilson, Babolat, Head and Prince are really struggling to keep things going strong. And those 4 Major brands are the ones that really do everything for all of us "die hard" tennis players. Afterall, Wilson sponsors my WTT team and the national championship and I know that I also see Penn (head) Babolat and Prince helping out the local events and programs that I play every weekend.

Here's my point.. ( I know everyone is saying ..blah, blah blah..) Why dont we all form a "cause".. a Movement to support only the true tennis brands for all of our apparel and footwear needs. I love Nike and adidas, but what do those companies do, as an example, for my local tennis? I'm done with them..Love em, but I am not buying anything that is not from the people that support what I do everyday. Play tennis in leagues and want to support the companies that support me. The true tennis brands are the reason I got in the game in the first place.

Nothing bad about the big companies, but I just feel compelled to support the people and companies that exist soley because of tennis.

Sorry for the negative post. But I really feel this is important.

I think only Babolat and Prince may be called a Tennis only brand.

Kind of feel the same way. Reebok and Head sponsored my team when I played in college in 99-01 and I haven't deviated from them since even tho the sponsorship is long gone.

GL with your crusade!

I guess I agree with you, but I still consider Wilson and Head true tennis brands....maybe you are right, but both of those companies always give back to our sport with local support. Are you in?

Wilson is involved in a lot more than just tennis. Also Wilson is owned by Amer Sports a company from Finland. http://www.amersports.com/brands/

HEAD is probably better known as a Ski brand than a Tennis brand. The HEAD logo is a Ski tip. http://www.head.com/

Adidas has owned Reebok since 2005.

I agree completely. But at least Wilson and Head do things for the club player like me. This is not the point... Can we start the movement to banish the apparel and footwear unless they are "true tennis brands"? Lets make it happen!
