Hi fellow TWers ...

I will be visiting Hong Kong in March. So, I'm looking for 4.5+ players in Hong Kong. Can probably play either near Victoria Park area (late morning) or Fan Ling (morning) during weekdays.

Have not had much luck playing in Hong Kong in the past - either due to rain or just lack of tennis contacts. Hope to make some contact on this trip. Thanks everyone!

@OTMPut - saw some of your previous posting about playing in Hong Kong, but have no way to contact you. Would love to hit if you're available. Email me - I've enabled my email here.

Sorry for the late reply. I hope you are still in HK. Let me know if you want to play some time.

Thanks, JennyJimin. Unfortunately, I have left HK. It was a short 4-day trip, yet I managed to play twice :). Once at Victoria Park (my first time playing there), the other at Tsz Wan Shan

Where/which area do you normally play in HK?

Glad you got to play. Vic Park is great - EXCEPT for the fact that they went cheap and didn't put fences to stop balls at the backs of the courts from rolling into adjacent courts. HK has the cash - no excuse. Hitting on center court is awesome.

Yes, there was a few of the rolling balls while I played there, but it wasn't too bad - the weather was perfect in early April. We have quite a few of these "no fence between courts" in NorCal public courts, but not sure I can say that the California Public Parks has plenty of funding. :)

I guess I'm lucky. Here in So Cal many of the places I play have each court separately fenced; and all but a few have the 6' high fences that come out from the back fence all the way to the baseline to stop balls from rolling to the next court.

I'm still hoping one of our HK posters will take some pictures of the red clay courts at the LRC and post.

@swissfed: Which are do you normally play in HK? Maybe we can hit next time I visit HK.

Anyone knows if there's any pick-up tennis in HK? Seems like everyone comes to the court with prearranged partners when I observed the last time I was there.

Yes that's the scene there. If you hang around the entry gate at Victoria Park you can easily spot the coaches. They aren't cheap but some will hit with you; others are either too busy or don't want to deal with foreigners.

Yes, I saw a coach teaching his student on the court next to my court. Should've asked for his contact for my next visit.

Then, while hitting, I saw a few Australians roaming around looking for courts. They were 5.0 players.

I believe technically there's no free court time in HK public courts since they have online booking system for all courts for all time slots. But, there didn't appear to have anyone onsite to enforce reservation.
