Tennis Courts

As this is an international forum I thought I'd ask about the tennis courts in your country and immediate region.

1. Country/Region(optional) / How close to courts do you reside?
2. Are they easy to access ?
3. What surface do you normally play on ?
4. How expensive are they ?(currency)
5. What condition or state of repair are they in ?
6. What is bad about playing on that surface(if anything)?
7. What surface can't you play on and why ?
8. What surface best suits your game (if any) ?

I'll start the ball rolling:

1. Australia NSW / Within 2km
2. Yes, can get on morning or afternoon/evening
3. Synthetic grass
4. Inexpensive $8aus-$15aus per hour
5. Fair to good. Some repairs are a little dangerous
6. Bad footwork for other surfaces (I think as I'm lazy)
7. Clay, cause my timing sucks.
8. Natural grass cause I like to finish the point quickly.

Over to you guys

I used to live in Buenos Aires, now i live in madrid (though i come back a lot).

Buenos Aires
1. 200 mts
2. yes.
3. Red clay
4. mmm. its a private club but the fee per month is pretty expensive (im not longer a member).
5. Superb.
6. cant think of any.
7. i CAN play any surface, but im too used to clay.
8. Clay again.

1. 'burbs of Washington DC/ seriously down the road (two minutes walking) from my house- BRAND NEW COURTS
2. Yes
3. Hard
4. Free, as long as you are part of that neighborhood
5.Amazing
6. I'm used to having a short 3 foot wall as part of the base of the fence surrounding the courts at my school. These new courts (not at my school) are fenced, so it took a while to get used to not hearing an echo, resounding POP after each shot
7. I personally don't like clay because I sometimes don't focus and get lazy, going for outright winners
8. Clay, oddly (spinny forehand, decent kick serve, 1H backhand)

1. England, Hull East Yorkshire / 100yds down the road (not quite as good as Dorian's backyard, but close enough
2. Members only, but fee's are fair, and courts always free
3. Astro Turf, sometimes hard (club looking into getting some acrylic, which should probably become my fav surface)
4. £50 annual fee as i'm a student (£100 adult, £40 Juniors)
5. Mostly great, some hardcourts need resurfacing (happening this summer)
6. Balls fur up alot, and it becomes skiddy in hot weather
7. None, i suppose Spanish clay would be hard to maintain, plus the grass courts have unfortunately proved too costly both financially and time wise to maintain.
8. probably hard or acrylic, decent bounce and medium speed.

Aerial shot of my Club:

They're looking into making the first 3 grass courts an indoor facility.

And the two hard courts nearest the clubhouse Acrylic.

I'll start the ball rolling:

1. Mar del Plata, Argentina / The nearest courts are 5 blocks from my home, the ones I always play with are 10 blocks, and I train in the courts which are 15 blocks from home.

2. Yes. You can "rent" them anytime. If you can't find any time, you try the other club, and the other club. You can always find at least on hour in one of them ;)

3. Hardcourts, the nearest, and claycourts, the rest of them. And two
synthethic grass courts.

4. Very cheap. 6 pesos an hour the hardcourts (2 dollars), 15 pesos the claycourts (5 dollars).

5. Excellent, at least, the clubs where I train.

6. Too slow, and very vertical bounces. But they're great for your body, for your knees, sliding is tons of fun, and you don't injure yourself when you dive for a volley winner :)

7. Can't say, haven't played in grass nor carpet :(

8. Grass and carpet, but never played there. So, between hardcourts and clay, i'll say hard.

1. Country/Region(optional) / How close to courts do you reside?
Zagreb, Croatia. I live ten minutes walk distance to the tennis courts.

2. Are they easy to access ?
Since there's lots of them, they should be. It is often hard to find a free court in the afternoon hours.

3. What surface do you normally play on ?
Winter is my hard court season with 75% hard court and 25% clay. The summer is my clay court season with the opposite stats.

4. How expensive are they ?(currency)
The price varies from about 7 USD per hour to 18 USD per hour.

5. What condition or state of repair are they in ?
Nice to very nice. Sometimes not so good, but only sometimes.

6. What is bad about playing on that surface(if anything)?
Nothing really.

7. What surface can't you play on and why ?
I can play on any surface. I do need to adjust my game when switching, though.

8. What surface best suits your game (if any) ?
Clay court. Well, perhaps it doesn't best suit my game, but it's the surface I enjoy playing tennis the most. :D

We've had a pretty diverse response locality wise on this one. It's been good to see most people have found court access relatively easy and inexpensive. Come on guys, if your region hasn't been mentioned give us your take ! :)
