Tennis Elbow & Golfer's Elbow that WON'T heal?

Too long playing to start!!

Yup, but the guys wanted to play doubles, so most of it was doubles and I didn't serve at all. I iced it down last night, but it's a bit sore today. I probably should have hit for 15 minutes and gone home. But, that's like eating one potato chip, eh? ;)

wELL.DOUBLES IS WORSE;SINCE THERE ARE MORE SUDDEN HITS,VOLLEYS ETC...

I played 1.5 hours of gentle tennis today, including one set of easy singles, which I lost 6-2 to a guy I normally beat 6-0. :) I loved it, however. Being able to play is such a blessing.

Anyway, I will take another week off, as I felt some small twinges. I'm not coming back again until I know I can smack the snot out of my forehand.

Be right there!

To the rest of youse: My elbow is much better today after yesterday's hit. I have no idea WHY, but perhaps ACTIVE RECOVERY is worth a think? In other words, coming back slowly with some gentle hitting. (I did not hit hard yesterday.)

well you rested ( eventually) did physical therapy ,ice antiinflammatories, and had an EASY hit. a much more mature appraoch ( very bad english). great to learn this will not be a lingering issue with you.

No, I hope not, but we'll see. It might always be subject to re-injury so I'm going low on the tension for awile. The elbow feels perfect today, but, you never know til you stress it.

I had a terrible case of TE/GE a few years ago. After trying everything, I read an article about using a Nordic Track trainer and simply swinging/stretching your arms out. It suggest that you place the grips between your thumb and forefinger and swing your arms to stretch your elbow for 10-15 minutes at a time. If you wanted to use the ski portion, that was fine but obviously not necessary. It intended to stretch the muscles around the elbow . I did this for about 4 weeks along with normal stretching and a miracle occured. I have no idea why this worked but it did and I've never had a problem again.

Very similar motion to the tricep pulldowns that are recommended and praised in the "elbows of steel" thread.

It's similar, but with this exercise you're not bending your elbows. What I was doing was stretching it out with my arms in a locked position.

I've had GE for about 3 mos now. Mostly triggered from a bathroom remodel project but tennis isn't helping it heal. I took a month off and did about 6 physical therapy sessions to get me back playing again. I have pain the day after tennis but not during, now. Aleve is a quick fix for me, but I've discontinued use and trying DMSO. I got a immediate relief from the DMSO gel (as others have stated), but it gave me a slight headache which is a concern. I never get headaches.

Anyone else get headaches from DMSO?

I also found that DMSO provides relief and I didn't get any headaches.
I'm using DMSO cream (99%) but it's 50% combined with aloe-vera, vitamin E, etc. I also add arnica to the cream
