Tennis fans should now support DjokovicG

Now that both Federer and Nadal have withdrawn there is no excuse not to support Djokovic in his quest for the Holy Grail: the mythical Grand Slam.

It would be an extraordinary finale to the Big 3 era.

It would be a great story for tennis.

These things don't happy very often (I've only seen it done once) so this might be your only chance to experience it.

It would put this year into the tennis history books, and after the misery of last year's Covid decimated season that would be a wonderful thing. Showing that tennis returned with a bang.

So come on Federer fans and fellow Nadal fans: although it means our guy won't end up as GOAT they will have had the honour of being part of an era that included the GOAT.

Let's all cheer Djokovic on to glory -for the good of the game!

Go Djoko!!!!

if he can win this maybe the world will finally come together on his anti-vax stance, new players union
and his theory of cleaning dirty water with mindpower lol

Tennis fans should now support the next gen.

Now that the Big 3 are all well into the twilight of their careers (especially Federer and what looks to be Nadal), there is no excuse not to support the next gen in their quest to knock the old greats off their throne.

It would be an extraordinary beginning of a new era.

It would be a great story for tennis.

This thing hasn't happened in a very long time so we may finally get a chance to see it again.

It would put this year into the tennis history books as the season in which the Big 3 were finally toppled, and after the misery of last year's Covid decimated season that would be a wonderful thing. Showing that tennis returned with a bang.

Let's all cheer the next gen on to the record books - for the good of the game!

Go Next Gen!!!!

That can wait for one more slam. This is tennis immortality we're talking about.

Just let it be an interesting Slam. Like, the plot is there, but it needs good execution.

This year Djokovic went through 3 different next gen (kind of) stars in the GS finals. Zverev should be the next in line, for symbolism. Either Djokovic completely dominates the Next Gen, or maybe there's a new hope.

20-20-20 is the right time for NextGens to start acting.

If not for anything else, then for the poetry!

There is not reason to support Djo. He doesn't represent most fans, isn't a very good face of the tour, and while his accomplishments are what they are - rivaling anyone for the best player - he will never be a great of the game like many others. Your opinion and decision to support him doesn't change anything. Fed and Nadal being out doesn't change anything. He is still, just Djo and everything and all the baggage that invokes.

Best of luck to all the players.

Steffi Graf, Rod Laver and Margaret Court would not agree that a Grand Slam is mythical. I hope Djokovic withdraws.

Tennis fans should support their normal favourite. This is not some sort of great patriotic cause. If it happens, it happens.

Quoted for the truth. I find, however, a delicious irony in this truth!

History completely rolls over the asterisk people. History does not remember nor care who was present at Laver's 1969 CYGS or Court's record 24 majors. History only remembers the winners. History is written by the winners.

I would like an attacking player in the mould of Shapovalov to clinch it. If not, I'd prefer Medvedev /Tsitsipas /Karatsev. Djoker is not in my top 3 preferred for sure.

It's actually the same as last year, Djokovic against the rest of the field without Federer and Nadal. The only question is will he beat himself again.

Djokovic seemed completely out of sorts last year, but he should bring steely determination to this event. If he doesn't then he doesn't deserve it.

I would like to hear Fed fans cry for a new champion every time Novak wins a slam going forward. Never saw that during A017 or AO 2018 championships. Those cries started again at wimbly 2018 and reached their peak in wimbly 2019

guess 40-15 still hurts deep inside :D
Could it be Djokovic's game just isn't pretty to look at when compared to Fedal? He also takes questionable MTOs and fakes injuries (e.g. his abdominal "tear" in AO 21) as pointed out by Carreno Busta. Federer or Nadal don't pull off such stunts. Last, I also doubt if Djoker has ever won a fan favorite or fair play award. All suggest he is not likeable.

Nadal has pulled plenty of stunts in his time.

Well obviously I’m rooting for Djokovic but most non Djokovic fans want a new next generation winner just for the breakthrough etc. Med is the only person I see beating Nole here. Most Fedal fans don’t want Djokovic to win as he will get CYGS and go to 21 and will be 110% the goat

It was surprising to see Rafa entering a golf tournament two days ago. Is that normal? An injured player preparing for U.S. Open should not be playing golf. We took it as a bad sign. Of course we were proven correct the next day when he announced his US Open withdrawal.

It just shows that golf is rather less stressful on the body, especially if you use a cart.

It will be cool either way: Either we have a breakthrough slam champ (assuming Cilic doesn’t win) or we have a major historical breakthrough.

Anyone but Djokovic!!!! I am predicting Medvedev will win the US Open this year and won't that be fantastic!!!!!
