i will be traveling to las vegas for a conference at the end of this month, and i was wondering if anyone knows of some courts with drop in drills/clinics that are on the strip. i will not have a car with me, and i will be staying at the venetian. any advice would be appreciated.

Bally's had a couple of morning clinics last time I was there. I think there's a 3.0-3.5 early, and then a 3.5-4.0 around 9am. I did the 3.5-4.0 (which was a stretch in terms of ability, in my opinion), but I still enjoyed it. Mainly drills and doubles play. $40 for a couple of hours, I think, not too bad.

I've heard good things about the Hilton, but haven't tried it.

Darling center looked good when I was out there for the tennis channel open, but it's a ways off the strip.

the international tennis center looks pretty cool. It's also indoors, which would be key during warm summer months. Looks super spendy, though (like, $40/person-hour for singles)! There's a one hour clinic for $40. If you go there, would you post and let me know how it was?

Has anyone went to the hilton clinic?

i am going there very soon and i want to know if its good?

and does the darling center have any clinics?

You can do clinics at the International Tennis Centre and they can provide transportation for you. Clinics are $45. Perfect indoor courts.

quick update

i ended up going to ballys and doing the 9-11 am clinic which was excellent. anne rockwell was the instructor, and she ran a thorough drill. i am a 3.5 player who plays mostly mens doubles, and mixed doubles. i found this to very appropriate to my level. cost was $50, which is on the expensive side, but it's a 2 hour drill and about on par for vegas.

the next day i ended up doing a private lesson which was also very helpful.

thanks for all the posts. if i had to do it again, i would definitely go back to ballys.

Cool, glad you had fun. I did that clinic earlier this year, in March. Seemed like that clinic was about ideal for a 3.5 player, but Anne knew some good drills to keep it challenging for a range of levels (there was a volleying drill that really evened it up by putting the net folks into a tough position from the first feed). Given what things cost at the strip hotels in Vegas, $50 for a couple of hours wasn't too bad... though the pro to player ratio was, like 12:1 when I was there.

I'd definitely go back to Bally's too - mainly because it does the job of getting me out on the courts, and it is mid-strip. The Hilton's program sounds good, but it's out of the way.
