Tennis in Raleigh, NC area?

Hi! I'm not exactly new on here, but it's been a very long time since I posted on TT. I have been living in the Raleigh, NC area for a little over a year after moving from the San Francisco Bay Area, and I'm looking to find some hitting partners. I'm in my late 30s and I'm a 5.0 solid baseliner. Is there anyone in this area who may be available to play? I hope I'm posting in the right forum, but either way, I hope to hear back from someone!

Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill has a ton of 4.5, 5.0, and recent ex-college players. I’m surprised you are having trouble finding people to hit with.

I haven't really ventured out too much since I've been here. My wife has been my primary hitting partner and she's of equal level (4.5-5.0), but she's pregnant with our third child and won't be able to play too much longer. We've played at Millbrook, so I may try and drop in there again to drop my name and number. I've thought about joining a few racquet clubs, but they're a bit pricy and hoped to find some hitting partners before joining anything.

USTA 5.0’s are in high demand for combo and spring leagues. Also 9.0 mixed teams love 5.0 men. You should contact the local USTA coordinator and they can get you plugged in

Millbrook Tennis center has a nice singles ladder. It might be worth seeing what the 4.5/5.0 competition is like.

There is also a ‘pro’ league on the area which seems to be the 5.0+ crowd. Although most are higher than 5.0 from what I can tell. Happy to try to facilitate intros as most of the local club pros play in that league.

As is pretty common with ladders, but especially true with the Raleigh ladder, people usually overestimate their abilities by 0.5/1.0 rating points from what they'd be at USTA. i.e., the Raleigh 4.0 ladder are mostly people who would play 3.0/3.5 USTA league. Every year there's one/two true on-level players in each ladder and they just dominate. So if you're a true USTA 5.0, then you may want to see if there's a 5.5 ladder (i honestly don't know).

Yeah, Raleigh Pro League is a lot of former D1 players, mostly 5.5+ but there's a couple folks across the league that are 5.0 and even a couple super strong 4.5 that are usually doubles specialists.
