Tennis in Spain

I am going to be living in Granada for about five months this spring and am wondering what I should do to be able to play tennis while I am over there.

Generally, I am wondering: Are there many public tennis courts in Spain, or do you have to join a private club? If you have to join a club, are there any skill requirments? Are there courts where you can pay a small fee each time that you play?,etc.

I am sure that I will find out most of this information once I get over there, but I would like to have at least some insight before I fly over.

Any input from Spaniards or anyone who has lived in Spain would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I think it`s wise for you to join a private club. Most of the times there aren`t skill requirements, at least I`ve never heard of them. There aren`t many public courts. The main surface is clay, so get yourself some decent CLAY shoes.
