Tennis is more exciting when Nadal is around.

Nobody equals the same level of excitement in opinion, you begin to really appreciate what Nadal has given to Tennis as you know there won't be many times left to see him play. His level isn't what it was but it's that fight to the end, the never say die attitude I admire.

Tennis is much better when Nadal is human. Everyone likes his struggle. That's the role he played best all his life. It's his domination which was killing most of us when he was young.

I been telling yall for 17 years lol.
I missed the match earlier bc I had to sleep but I’m about to catch the highlights now. Looked at the score as soon as I woke. Match summary anyone?
He didn't play great. First set was ok. Second set was not getting any depth on his shots and specifically returns. 3rd set he looked a little better on depth of shot and intensity. For a little over a 3 hour match he looked stamina wise fine and no drop in play or serve speed really as the match went on. I thought he looked much better against Alex.

In this world with all these distractions, a person who gets you out of your routine to watch is special indeed.

Moving the Needle is the phrase people often use. Who moves the needle in tennis today? Rafa moves the needle.

Yep that's how I knew the Big 3 was special. I would watch the Big 3 at 4 AM if I need to. Doubt anyone ever comes along again that can do that to me.

If this was 5 years ago, in 2019, I won't be sure that Nadal would be the one who moved needle. It was Federer then because everyone supports underdog.

Groundies when on are fearsome, BH inconsistent though and serve still bot doing enough but he may be holding back, obviously even if he feels great and 100% he isnt going to pull that out now. Rafa will save his best for 2nd week of RG.

For the younger generation he definitely has that ability. Not sure he's ever getting me up at 4 AM though :p.
For me it depends who he plays, Sinner v Alcaraz id watch all night for sure. Maybe others of his generation step up, but Nadal and Federer especially had an X factor nobody else has ever really had. Young people wont remember now but peak Federer was a sight to behold he really was. Cannot believe it was around 20 years ago we saw peak Federer. 20 freaking years!!

Man I'll never forget staying up all night and into the morning watching those AO matches. Especially the near 6 hour gut wrenching loss to Djoker in the final. I'll never alter my sleep schedule to watch a tennis player again after rafa is done. He was a once in a lifetime player for me to watch and who really got me liking tennis.

Watching Bublik now against Medvedev. First 5 games, Bublik already hit 4 volley winners, some are drop volley winners. This is exciting! No annoying grunting and endless moonballs!

Yeah, I've always appreciated Rafa, his funny interviews talking about his most emotional matches and whatever.

LeBron moves it as well. I could have easily played top spin this morning to get myself levelled up. Instead, I watched the game.

No other player has hit epic forehands in the best tribute video ever to Rihanna :D

I wish the highlights were longer, I plan to watch the whole match he plays today, comes on at a much better time.
Rafa’s level is still a fair bit off what it would need to be to win Madrid (which is totally expected) but it’s just so great seeing him out there. And I guess what we all agree on is that Rafa at 60% is still more entertaining than a good majority of the tour, because he is just so dynamic and idiosyncratic as a player.

And the epic celebrations are back! We saw the triple fist pump from him the other day. It’s pretty positive that physically he seemed fine after a big 3 hour match, too. Cachin is a baller. I think he played some great tennis and there was a very good meeting between both players after the match.

Combined with the fact that apart from Alcaraz everyone is just a different version of the same no-brainer ballbasher - Medvedev, Zverev, Sinner to name a few. Just bash bash bash, zero net play, zero variety, slicing? Ain't nobody got time for that LOL.

I'd rather watch a Federer-Nadal exhibition match than a Sinner-Zverev Slam final and I bet that most people feel the same.

Nadal does have very underrated slice. Both Nadal and Alcaraz are forehand dominant players.

Sinner Medvedev Zverev Djokovic are all backhand dominant players. With Djokovic and Sinner having great forehands as well. They are centrally based and need to run much less.

It's a more about the player, than the overall play right now. Gotta admit they aren't the highest quality matches, but the drama and focus and shifted (the excitement) is seeing if he can tough out one more.

Rafa generates more excitement than the rest of the tour put together because he's a genuine star. Tennis has few of those types. Becker, Agassi, Fed and a few others. When you have guys like Di Minaur, Sinner and Hurcasz in the top 10, what do you expect? Their personalities and on court affect is dull as dishwater.

Just watching Rafa Jr. in the stands is more exciting than watching any other players matches (except Carlos) in Madrid and that's literally a fact.
