Tennis Only M1 Multi string

Is it powerful when compared to other multis in the same gauge?

Have you gotten around to trying it yet?
I've only been able to try it in demos. I'm not sure if power was the first thing that came to mind, but comfort definitely was. It doesn't feel too "launchy", but at contact it feels like the string flexes a bit like a rubber band, in a comfortable way.

I played this string in my PK Ki5 demo and ended up ordering the frame. Strung the new frame up with my usual Technifibre MultiFeel 1.30 Black and actually didn't like it as much comparatively speaking so I just placed an order for a few sets of M1 Multi.

I called TW and wasn't able to get more information about the M1 Multi specs but they did confirm they string M1 in their demos at 2 lbs more than the mid-range of each racket's suggested tension. FWIW, I typically string MultiFeel at 52 lbs. I found M1 1.30 to play with both more power and control relatively speaking in my demo frame and that would have been strung closer to 59-60lbs based on that 2 lbs more than the mid calculation.

Is M1 slick like MF

Wow, thanks for mentioning this here! I had been wondering about this. The M1 in the demos I tried did feel tight, but still felt pretty comfortable on my arm. I'm going to do the same thing in my new frame with M1 based on what you wrote here

No, it definitely gets stuck out of place much more compared to MF.

Yeah I was surprised how tight it was strung compared to my normal (52 lbs) yet was still comfortable and had more control & power too.

I just rec'd demos of the PK Ki5, ATS 98, Strike 16x20 from TW and they were all strung with M1.
I really liked the string a lot, but can't find any info in the TWU database.

Curious to know if this is just a white labeled string and if so, what is the manufacturer and origin of the string?

The person I talked to at TW awhile back said they couldn’t publicly share those details.

So, has anyone tried another string that feels like the TW demo string M1 multi?
Make an educated guess on what it actually is?
Wilson NXT?
Gamma Live Wire?
Babolat Xcel?
Prince Premier Control?
Dunlop Silk?

Any thoughts?

I’ve used PPC before and I’m fairly confident that it’s not the same. Can’t speak to any of the others though.

The initial test of M1 1.30 was within 4 stiffness points of NXT 1.30. We playtested a lot of multis from different factories before settling on this one. No packaging/no marketing allows us to pass savings on to consumer.

Thx for the info Jon.
If TW did measure the actual stiffness of the M1 multi, then why not publish it on the string database?

Hey babar! We tested the original factory sample, but did not keep the record because it was originally supposed to be a demo-only string. Now that we are selling it, we need to retest. Unfortunately, testing is on hold b/c of other projects; and yes, we know there is strong demand for data. I hesitated to join this thread partly b/c we don't have the data on TWU, but also b/c we haven't confirmed that the current batch matches the data of the original sample. Aside from that, we LOVE how it feels and plays. We're hoping to put it on Happy Hour this summer. The other string that started as demo-only is P6. We tested strings from several different factories before we settled on P6. The original sample of that one has the same stiffness as one of the most popular polys on the market. We're hoping to add a soft version in future.

Appreciate the follow up and context. Looking forward to that info when it becomes available though. Take care!

From my experience this is likely the Taiwanese OEM that use to make multis similar to NXT and sensation before switching to France technifibre factory long ago. Alot of smaller brands still sells this or a similar formulation. I have ordered this style of multis identical via wholesale with factory during covid.
