Tennis socks

Not sure if anybody uses Adidas socks, but lately I'm amazed by their half-crew socks.
Medium/low cushioning, nothing fancy, but these socks do not smell! :)

I've played up to four hours, in some heat, and afterwards... almost no odor. Just amazing! And they keep the foot almost dry during play, so no slippage.

Apparently they have some sort of antimicrobial treatment that even after numerous washes still holds up.
No smell in the socks implies also no bad smelling shoes.

I am currently wearing Gold Toe brand. Their athletic socks are nothing short of heaven. Long, uppers have mostly spandex to keep them in place. They NEVER fall down. The heel and ball area have serious padding, and they seriously dry. I have played (and this is on the extreme end) three matches in a day in the Texas heat before I changed to a fresh pair. Other brands I have used required changing about the second set. Give them a try. Trust me.

+1 for Gold toe! They are still amazing after probably 50 washes, they're a little less black now, but that doesn't matter since they're no-show. I've never tried their crew socks, because I only wear nike crew socks. I got a pair of Elites, and they're pretty nice, I think I was just wearing them with the wrong shoes... Propulse 2's are tooo flimsy and not supportive enough.

VitalSox: less cushioning than a Thorlo 2. Way more support and compression. Way better fit. No slip. I see Thorlo as the comfortable sock for casual wear. Vital Sox for an actual drill session or a match.

I finally had a chance to try the Nike Elite basketball socks and they are really nice. It has cushion in the right places and great breathability. Only wish they made an ankle height crew.

I should give the Vital Sox a try as well.

go to sams club and get their power echo socks. it's thick, durable and absorbs the sweat on your feet much better than tourna grip on hands. the best part is it's fairly cheap at about $1.15/pair.

I finally found the Nike Elite Basketball socks. They are great, I only wish they were more widely available. Only one Foot Locker within 50 miles had them in store.

I just got 6 pairs from fle b ay...lets hope all you guys are right...

I just bought some tennis socks (athletic) and they stink of chemicals! I returned them. What's up with that?

Bought a pair of Level2 Thorlos because they were on sale, and I was highly disappointed with the slippage. I was sliding all over my shoes and I didn't feel secure at all. The cushioning was great, but these socks aren't for me =/

I guess I'll have to save up for some Vitalsox.

My own 45 year old father bought a pair of elite socks and last night he played in them and said they were the best socks he's ever used and he's been playing for decades now. I will swear by the elite socks and their comfort. GSckOAT

I've tried pretty much everything TW offers and am looking also to try the Nike elite socks.

I'm definitely NOT a Thorlo guy. The 1's are okay for me, but I dislike the 2 and 3.

My favorites socks right now are the EuroSock and the DryMax sock.

The VitalSock is also a great sock. I'd rank it 3rd behind the others. It's a lot like the EuroSock in terms of being supportive and moderately cushioned, but the Euro's just feel a bit better to me and the ankle section is a bit more forgiving.

Regarding Features... these are nice too, good support, no slippage (the originals)... but not as cushioned as the others. Actually, no cushion. The sock is uniformly built.

The worst part about the elites is that they run LARGE. It's virtually impossible to find a regular white or black sock in a medium without paying a premium. I just suck it up and wear the larges. I got all the colors from Footlocker and I love them. There's only one minor gripe though. They make my feet smell like donkey A**

They are Nike Elite Basketball socks, discussed on previous pages of this thread. Also seen on numerous players in the NCAA BB tourney. they are available on Nike . com and on e b @ y
I also have Nike tennis-specific socks that have that stripe down the back of the sock. Nike Tennis sold them a couple of years back. I liked them so much that I stocked up. They seem to fit perfectly with Nike tennis shoes like the BF II and Cage II. :)

I am with you there! I have a pair with a black stripe down the back of the sock and one with a university blue stripe down the back of the sock. I think Marshalls had them for $1.99 a few years back. It was before I really cared about my gear. Looking back, I wish I had bought a few more... :) They are basically the same sock that is given to professionals, like Isner and Nadal, to wear.

Cheers!

Yup, those are the ones. I went to every Marshalls in my area and bought every pair that they had. I ended up with like 50 pairs. :)

I have tried Head socks from Costco for the first time in about 15 years.

Last time the socks felt like my feet were in a stuffy sauna room.

Since then, the Head socks have been greatly improved. They now have moisture-wicking material and ventilate quite well, while providing the ample cushion which they were originally known for.

One bonus is that now they come in black as well. I bought a half dozen of white and a half dozen of black. I will be wearing the black to match my black barricades.

Price: $12.99 for 6 pairs.

You mentioned these socks used to make your feet feel like they were in a sauna. Anyone care to comment which socks provide comfort and do not overheat your feet? Even doubled up?

I have the same problem with brand new Thorlos. I found that once I've washed them the problem goes away (and I'm not sure if it matters, but I don't use fabric softener with my sports kit). If you only wore them the once, give it another chance before you give up on them.

Alright I'll give them another shot and see how they play. Thanks for the tip.

I wear the Head Power Cushioned Socks. Love them the have nice cushioning in the bottom and heel and are breathable on top. They are also not very expensive. I buy them for roughly $12 for a 6 pack.

The current Head socks do not overheat your feet.

I was referring to the Head socks from over a decade ago.

There has been a great improvement made since.

I got just the normal black cotton nike crew socks and have doubled up those and they feel fine. No slippage, good enough cushion, good arch support, very dry after several washes, and overall, I think they're a much different sock than dri-fit socks because they are cotton and act like cotton socks, but are still very good.

been playing with the basketball elite socks this week...

as people have said they're great, great socks...

and they look super cool...

I am wearing elite Bball socks as we speak since I am playing soon.

Yes, they are awesome. Found them for 12 a pop in the mall. Much better than getting jammed up on **** for them.

I wear two layers of socks. Tight fitting ankle socks inside and thick cotton crew on the outside. The combo is cheap and provides better cushion that any other sock on the market including thorlos. With two layers you will never have blisters.

It's so hard to find the Basketball Elites. I can't seem to find them anywhere, even in the Nike stores.

So, what's the next best sock? Just the good old dri-fit crew?

Try the Vital Sox outdoor socks. I liked the tennis ones, but these outdoor/hiking ones are just a little thicker and the compression feels awesome. Also, they come in gray, which is different and good-looking.

I wore the regular dry fir crews and instantly missed my Elites. The Elites ARE the best so far that I have owned, and I feel like they are better than an ankle sock under a sock combo. I just slowly will stock up on them because they are definitely worth purchasing.

They should be easier to find..they just came out in December and Nike and store owners are finally catching up to the demand.

So far, the Elites are great pair of socks. I love the cushioning they have in the forefoot and heel and the arch support.

I am glad they are now starting to carry the quarter socks version of this sock. Looking forward to getting a few pairs and letting you know how they work out.

I personally think the Elites are a little overrated. Dont get me wrong, those are some good socks, but not as great as the hype has been. I still think my Nike Tennis Dri-fit socks are more comfortable.

Any of these socks come big enough for size 15 feet? I always have trouble finding long enough sock, let alone good ones that are long.

I guess it really depends on what you looking for in a sock. Some of us have been looking for a pair of socks that offers amazing cushioning while providing good support which the Elite BB socks do.

I haven't had a chance to try the Tennis dri fit socks but how do they compare in cushion and support?
