Tennis video!

Hi guys, this is a video of me playing tennis. I was wondering if I was good enough for D3. Any tips and whatnot are appreciated too! Thanks!

I think the sound is off at the moment, but it's still being fixed I think .-. thanks everyone!

oh yes. its been posted many times, a decent amount of d3 schools give spots to 3.5s. obviously some schools have all 4.5 to 5.5 players, but i think that is kind of rare.

i like your game a lot. you really move your feet and are hitting good consistent shot.

Hi, I'll be gentle but honest. I have hit with a number of older guys who played D3 - some just a couple of years out of school and some 20+ years later. I think you might get on with a weaker program and play toward the bottom of the line-up. I don't say that to discourage you but just trying to be honest.

You didn't say your age. If you still have a year of high school, you could improve a lot with good coaching and lots of practice. You are at an age where improvement can come fast. Find a good coach and take lessons as much as you can afford and try to work on what your are learning at least 5 days a week for 2 hours each day. Also, do strengthening and flexibility exercises at least 3 days a week. Research good tennis fitness routines.

Let us know how you get on and good luck - I hope you make it. But, tennis is fun at any level so stick with it.

Actually, I don't see many 3.5 players coming out of D3 programs. Most of the ex-D3 and D2 players I have played are 4.0-5.0. I think you are a 4.0 player now but not a top 4.0.

Play club instead of on the team. Doesn't look like you have too much experience and don't have tournament experience.

You look like some of the 3.5s at my club. That's club or literally at the bottom of D3. Good luck either way!

ya i am thinking i was kind of wrong about that. i played jr college d3 and like i said in his other thread. onondoga had 1st singles 5.0 to 5.5 (he beat are hard hitting upper 4.0 0 and 1, a couple of 4.5 then the rest were all good 4.0s, alll us other schools in the league were playing multiple 3.5 players and given onondoga won nationals jr college d3 the year i played, i assumed smaller d3 schools were playing 3.5s. but the more i think about it, the rarer it would be.

maybe schools like alfred university or hartwick, D'Youville, oswego state, st john fisher and utica are playing a some 3.5s but i think its a lot rarer than i originally thought before i looked into it.

like i would even say from looking at some of the scores, nazerath and ithaca are only playing solid 4.0s and up and stevens (never heard of this school) is playing all 4.5s and up by the looks of it.

Let me be fair. Your projection skills are good, not too penetrating but consistent but my heavens you reception skills are lacking. I have a sneaking suspicion you my be self taught hence the over emphasis on projection and not reception.

Make sure you split step every shot. Have good first step reaction. Good anticipation and footwork. Most coaches will turn off the volume on a video and watch your feet and movement first. Thats when they determine whether they will watch the rest of the video.

You need to show better movement right from the start even in a friendly rally. You and your partner look quite lazy . Not the impression u want to give.

I have no doubt you can play division III college tennis. Yet you really have to define WHY you want to play college tennis at all. Sit down with a pen an paper with two columns:

PLAYING COLLEGE TENNIS
1. Projected positive things
2. Projected negative things

Spend at least a half hour to an hour jotting down answers to 1 + 2 above. From there you can move forward.
