Tension(s) used for playtest: 50# in mains and crosses strung on a Gamma 6004 with a Wise tension head (constant pull, no prestretch)
Regular string set up: Usually 16g PSGD somewhere around 60-63#
Racquet brand and model used for test: Wilson BLX Six.One 95 (open pattern)
Power of test string: I felt this string had average power.
Feel (Stiff? Mushy? Muted? Crisp?): The Lynx had a nice, crisp feel. I think it would feel better if it were strung a bit tighter, which I would certainly do if I tried it again.
Spin: Spin was average, perhaps even slightly above average, for this type of (nontextured) poly.
Comfort (off-center shock?): I had no comfort problems using this string, which was good because I've had a six month bout with golfer's elbow during the last year and I've moved away from polys. The Lynx was the first poly I've hit with since my elbow stopped having pain and it's renewed my interest in polys again.
Durability: I've hit with it for about six hours and it seems no worse than when it was fresh. The strings are not moving, there is no sign of notching, and tension loss seems minimal.
Playability Duration (share thoughts on if/how the playability changed over time): see above
Control (predictable trajectory? Easy to control depth? performance on different strokes and swing speeds?): I think the control department is where the Lynx really shines. I was able to hit all my spots with the serve using different spins, and my backhand seemed sharper with this string.
Compare to the string you use most often: It's hard to compare a poly to a synthetic gut. Definitely more spin with the polyester, but a lot less power, too.
Tension recommendations (after hitting it, would you recommend a different tension? Why?): I would definitely increase the tension, probably up to 53# in a 95-inch 16x18 frame. I was wary of stringing above 50#, initially, because I've had elbow problems with poly before, but I think this string requires it.
List any additional thoughts: While testing the Lynx has renewed my interest in polyester strings, I'm not sure the Lynx is the string for me because it requires a higher tension than the 50# I used, and I'm not sure my elbow can handle it. Also, the Lynx seems very low-powered so I'd be wary of power generation if I had to string it higher.
Thank you to Tennis Warehouse and Head for including me in the playtest. I apologize to the community for posting my evaluation a few days beyond the deadline.
