I will be in MD tomorrow to drop off the racquets and to feed our faces.
tfm - Have not hit a ball in 5 weeks, and its killing me. Especially w/ all the tennis that's been on TV. And if you think the super heavy/stiff racket is bad, I used to use Kevlar / Synthetic strung in the mid 60s. However, the only arm problems I had came from bad technique on the serve (which is why my take back is more like Rafter's). Since I fixed that 8 years ago, I've had no problems whatsoever.
Sup - I have no problem paying a few $ to get a racket measured, but I would like it to be somewhat accurate as I'm going to use those numbers in my next racket purchase (if I go w/ Vantage).
Mclovin -- that's harsh. i would imagine you have also not been wakeboarding in 5 weeks either. let us know when you are off injured reserve. i want a rematch with you and the Toe Pez. i think i took you guys too lightly because of the reflection off your dome and because one of you was wearing a skirt. i won't be fooled again.
This rain is nuts... Looks like the curse I put on the DC metro area worked.
If I can't play tennis, then nobody will, mwuhahaha!
Right now I'm having carrot cake for breakfast!
1,290 calories per serving!!! I've eaten about 3/4 of the cake already... my wife just wants it out of the house.
The arm has been feeling better lately, which is nice. I can almost brush my teeth with my right hand without too much pain. June 9th is the day the doctor told me I can start hitting (lightly) again. Yippee, I can't wait.
blue moon with orange. must try next time. is there a little meet the wkd of 24th? that's memorial day wkd.
let me know if you guys want to stuff your face for lunch again. i'm okay with bbq..heck anything* is good
*- excludes all tfm's exotic food recommendations/fantasies. must not be killed or captured in anyone's family basement.
Maybe, but you gotta agree...I look hot in a skirt...
Sapient did u get the crabs this weekend? I ate some saturday night. I dont check this stuff much when Im not at work so i noticed your post way late bro.
Hopefully the drive was worth it.
Also no USTA this week fo me (Bye week) so I am free any day to hit if ne 1 wants too.
mclovin -- i don't wanna get in trouble with a certain someone but i think you look better in a skirt. there i said it. i can't lie.
any of you geeks play with the Asus EEE PC yet? i picked one up at microcenter this weekend and i like it but i'm not completely sold on it yet. really hard to type on the tiny keyboard and i have tiny - i mean regular human sized hands. but it sure beats lugging around a 6 pound laptop and a 1 pound power supply brick and another couple pounds of laptop bag.
was there sat. no worries. i've done my share in destroying world crab population over the wkd.
btw, i can see why you like that tar-ish seasoning b/c it's just a big ol' pile of salt and pepper. i was trying to scrape most that crap off since it started eat away my skin but imagined that you would of licked the back of every crab clean with another side of JO.
bttw.. i asked for JO and they looked at me with confusion. you may need to find a new crab place.
oh tfm.. why... get one now. price is about to drop like a rock on the older models. the new EEE 900 series has a bigger LCD screen making it actually usable as a laptop. it's should get released in the US soon.
sapient -- i know the 9 inch version is coming out but it's still gonna have the crappy celeron processor in there. the 9 inch with the intel atom processors will be the one to get. plus i wanted to see just how useful it is. so far - it does 90% of what any other laptop can do.
we tested these out for work but at the end most of the users' feedback was that the screen resolution was a little too low to surf web, program or write documents.
are you going to dump XP on it?
I'm down for the rematch too.
McLovin - 71 stiffness in a thin beam? Interesting. What does that hit like? I know my PDR is either 71 or 70 in stiffness, but I imagine my racket is much thicker than what you play with.
TFm - What's for lunch? Probably about a gallon of coffee, finished off my term project at 3am this morning and dragged my self into work.
Anyone go to Qdoba? They have this ancho chile/ pork burrito that rocks!
yeps. i'm gonna put a lite version of XP on there as my final test. the wife said it was a bit too small for her because some webpages you have to scroll sideways to see everything. i think one of the best uses though is for kids. my 8 year old niece loves it and the keyboard fits her fingers perfectly.
wife is eyeing a thinkpad x61 or those 13.3 inch dell XPS laptops. i told her to put her apron back on and make me a sammich.
J.O is not well known in Harford county or much of anywhere. But it is the best IMO. We had some corn sat with our crabs. The corn was probably from florida. And my buddy dad said that the corn wasnt bad. Which I replied, thats cuz of the J.O. he started laughing and said yep thats probably 90%
i ended up getting a x61s over the asus eee. i know there's a huge price gap but i wasn't able to use the EEE in it's current state especially when looking over code.
p.s have you seen the lenovo x300?? it's actually smaller than the mac air overall but it's $$$$.. a lot of panty drop effect... <-- no not yours
aight no more thread jacking back on the lunch topic. i'm thinking diet today.. but will prob end up sobbing and pacing in the halls ~1pm looking for a strong shoulder to cry on
I got to QDoba but always end up getting chicken queso burrito and chips and queso. When i was in Southdakot would eat chiken mole chicken queso and chips and queso for dinner. I cant eat like I used to
Yeah, the chicken queso and the mole burritos are money.
Think I'm going back over for a pork burrito today.
JR - The PC+ "swirl", as it is known, hits very similar to the Pro Staff 6.1 Hyper Carbon, if you've ever hit w/ that.
IMO, its very stable & solid, has great "plow through" (my favorite shot is my "Pete Sampras" running forehand cross court), and practically no feel...which is just how I like it. Volleys are crisp, but you had better not swing on them, or you can pretty much forget it, as it weights 12.6 oz strung. I don't serve hard, so I can't speak to its power, but I know I have no problems hitting kick, slice or flat, with tons of control.
I've realized at this point that I do NOT like flexible rackets. I've tried many (new Pure Storm, Volkl V10, Head Prestige FP), and I've wanted to like them, but that flex at impact just bothers me.
You're welcome to hit w/ them if we ever get out (didn't we talk about hitting in the morning?).
Thanks for the info - McLovin.
Yeah we did - I just haven't been able to drag my lazy behind out of bed recently. Grad school work has been keeping me up late. Give me about a week to knock off finals, then let's try to connect now that you are about healed up.
holy cow thats a lot of calories. awesome. i love carrot cake.
and damn you for the curse. every day i am off it freaking rains. when its ncie and sunny, i have work
Yes, the curse will expire on June 8th, the day before I make my triumphant return to the tennis courts... at least that's the plan. ;-)
That carrot cake is the best cake on the planet that $75 bucks can buy... I'm certain of it. I guarantee anyone who tries that cake will come to the same conclusion. You will also come to the conclusion that you have gained 20lbs in 15 minutes after eating the cake.
...unless you are a mutant like myself who seems to be immune to weight gain.
Where did you buy the cake from? Cake Love maybe?
June 8 return? Sounds good. We have to get our Dubs on for the tennis team. I'm set to play tomorrow. I hope I he'll line me up for singles.
I posted the link to the place on the previous page... it's called Sweet Street Desserts, they're located in Philly. The cake comes to you packed in dry ice.
Good luck in singles. Hopefully I'll be back in form for the last 3 matches or so. And hopefully the captain allows me to play, I wouldn't blame him if he outright kicked me off the team though.
The good news is all our ACTA matches have been cancelled due to rain so it looks like the season will have to be extended until December in order to have all the make-up matches.
tfm. tx for the instructions on how to fix the butt cap. i found a nail gun and jacked up enough staples in there to kill a horse but it moves/squeaks no longer
Where are we meeting for lunch on Tues?
As for your racquets.. I have great news.. and good news.
All have been done and stencils are dry. Customization complete.
Great News (bad news):
I took the 306g original and strung it up with maxim touch. As I do with all the racquets before and after I string.. I inspected the frame. I am not happy how the grommets looked. It looked as worn as .. (let your imagination wander)..
So what did i do? I cut the strings out.. and I ordered you a new set of grommets. Its for your own good TFM, don't argue with me darn it. Should be here on the 14th, so you can have your 5th racquet on Thursday.
P.S. Don't get spoiled with this kind of service. I tend to be a perfectionist. Once the rain stops, the service stops.
Sweet - I'm singles one for the USTA match Tuesday!
Sup, lets see If I can put your tips to work. Hopefully I can represent the TW MAC to the fullest!
wow. this rain is really making you stir crazy huh? but your loss is apparantly my gain. sweetness!
i'm surprised the grommets were so worn on that 306gram original racquet. thought it was in fairly good shape. but then again the fool i had stringing the racquets before was not exactly a professional. i think he just played one on tv. thanks for ordering the new grommets. i guess if i have to wait til thursday i'll manage somehow.
oh as for lunch -- any chance you wanna meet up for an early dinner instead? say 5:00 in Va.? i have some things i gotta take care of at work today but i have to rush over to Falls Church in the afternoon so i'll be in the area.
sapient / sup / anyone who likes food --
that link for urbanbbq in rockville sounds pretty good. just throwing it out there but maybe tennis and bbq this afternoon? anyone? bueller? voodoo economics?
have class later so tennis is prob out. however i can always be hungry.
I love to see how the other half lives. An early dinner is 5? I call 5 a late dinner as I'm getting ready for bed ~ 6...
is this married life?
i don't usually sleep till 12-1am and rolls out ~6:30am. sleeping at 6 is just unimaginable.
you get ready for bed around 6?! what are you a farmer? only the extremely elderly, farmers and possibly robots that require sunlight to fuel their power cells go to bed when the sun sets.
i'm married with a baby and i regularly go to bed at 9 or 10 just from sheer exhaustion. pre-baby i'd go to bed at 1 or 2 am and get up at 6 or 7.
I'm being slightly facetious, but my bed time is usually ~ 9. I get up ~5 so I can make it to work by 6.
I try to get to bed around 930 to wake up at 414 and make it to work by 6
The sun is out! The sun is out! .. de plane.. de plane... wait. I lost my train of thought...
Oh yeah.. I can't do an early dinner. Sorry TFM.
I do however want to drive up today to get you the racquets (4) today. What time is good to swing by.
We'll have lunch Thursday perhaps.
sup -- let's do lunch thursday. i can wait for the racquets. no tennis today and wife and i are babysitting our nieces and nephews tomorrow. so i won't be needing the racquets til thursday anyway.
so who would like to hit on THURSDAY?
i'll hit a pitcher of beer on thursday
TFM, that's a good idea. Maybe we can do it next week>
Maybe a Sup clinic in MD then some BBQ???
I can hit some thursday. Can even stay late cuz im off friday
sounds good hollywood. let's plan on thursday afternoon hitting session. we'll see if anyone else wants to join us.
Sounds good sir. thurs afternoon. you handle the details on location. Gimmie address and let GPS handle the rest.
Man, I go to bed around 2am... get up at 0830, turn my alarm off... wake up at 1000 and get into work around 1045. I cannot do the morning thing, although breakfast is my favorite meal... I always miss it though.
That's why I do brinner - breakfast for dinner. Nothing like pancakes at 9pm!
Work at 10:45? Man, sometimes I wish. Up till 2am last night trying to study, but mostly falling asleep.
Studying is overrated...
Yeah - tell me about it.
tues/thurs is out with my schedule. however i'm prob going to "try" to hit @ howard wed.
speaking of howard, sup you should just go and hit with the team. they loose every match but should have a similar schedule to yours in addition to being actually pretty good players.
I may try to hit at howard wednesday too. Although I will probably for go the meal after and get my butt back up to harford county
Never been to the howard tennis courts.. is there a place to park?
