Considered Shipwreck, along with Sparks and Rock 'N Roll, but settled on Big Lob, cuz I always used to get stranded on third base. ;)

I'll come to Maryland for some good tennis. Who else is game?

if we're talking saturday, i'll drive 45 minutes from wonderland. i could bring some zucchini-cheddar muffins (pic to follow; they're in the oven atm).

and zap, before komi came on the scene, i was an ardent fan of michel richard's citronelle. i haven't been there recently though. on the other end of the spectrum, there's something called "broasted chicken" at Kountry Kitchen, out in thurmont. the chicken bits are somehow deep-fried in a pressure cooker, i think. i use it as bait to lure my posh mother to go camping at catoctin.

topaz - i've thought the ladder has been really good. its because of it that i've been able to play hw, dats, jrs, alice, magma, and tfm. i've met xisbum because of it as well. i also owe you a match because of it, which i think will be lots of fun when we get to play.

sure we all could play matches even if we didn't have the ladder but i think you'd have to admit that since the ladder, everyone has been more eager to play each other. i've had a blast playing everyone.

and i'm not ducking you. :) i'm taking a week break from tennis. the jjjoshes, nitefly, and zap pretty much saw me coughing nonstop on sunday. i'm usually able to play all day but this past sunday, i was limited to 3 sets of doubles. so when i get over this bronchitis, knee pain, and wrist pain, we will definitely battle! :p

i went to citronelle pretty recently. $$$$$
i should share the pics.. because the dishes are truly a work of art.
but i got PIZZED when it was hot as hell outside.. came in to really
enjoy my food and they forced me to put my jacket back on.
call me a hick... but i should be allowed to eat without a jacket on when it is 100degrees outside and i've been forced to walk around the dc monuments before eating my dinner.
that almost ruined it for me.. but since i wasn't paying.. i sucked it up
    and forced the food down.

(for the guys that know me.. you'll appreciate the krap i gave the maitre'd.. i was like "what if i just drape it around my shoulders.. is that considered wearing it?" "what if i just put one arm in it?"... etc... etc. no sense of humor at all. ended up putting it on before i caused too big of a scene.

hi xis! i've been super sick. been at home sick yesterday and today. i even turned down a singles match today. i never do that!

well our team is in sectionals. we lost in the district finals but we get a wild card. i only played 1 match. it was actually pretty bad. i threw up the morning of the match, my knees hurt, and i was hacking up some really disgusting stuff. i called my captain and told him that i really didnt want to play but he said that they needed me to play singles.

we warmed up and i knew i was in trouble. i was so weak that i couldnt drive the ball. when i tried, i couldnt put enough spin on it to keep it in the court so it went to the fence. i had to resort to being conservative and keeping the ball in play. i ended up luckily winning the match 6-2, 6-4.

i don't know. i dont really know these guys on the team so i'm not really into it. i had more fun playing on nitefly's team. i had more fun getting my butt kicked by jjjosh and dats. plus i was playing singles so it was just another match. i probably wont make the trip to sectionals. i did get a towel and a shirt though, wooo!

Do you know the muffin man?

I want to eat at Komi and Citronelle. So far, the best I've had in this area is City Zen and Restaurant Eve. Ate at Co Co Sala a few weeks ago, everything has chocolate in it, and I mean everything... burgers, mac & cheese, salads, drinks, wines, etc. They even have an Xzibit type dessert where they put chocolate in chocolate, so you can eat chocolate while you eat chocolate!

you should have turned your puppy dog eyes onto michel--he'd probably have taken pity on you...and then sent you sent an amuse-bouche of thai basil grapefruit sorbet or somesuch.

bravo. there are too many stupid rules and people for you correct in one lifetime...that is, if you also want to play tennis & enjoy beautiful food. good call.

the geico deal is a good one, and so is this: http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/tix/1270272876.html i love the idea of front-row seats: what if my geico tix are right behind hw or thejrk??

Alice front row of the top section is no different than the Geico Tix. Once you get into the facility you just find open seats and sit there. when we were there we were about 10 rows from the court. until Roddick started and people filled in. But then we went to the top and found plenty of open seats.

If you can get in there 15 do it.

Question - do they let you move around or are they strict about assigned seating? Not trying to sit there by myself.

    Also - who's going wednesday?

JR, the box seats are assigned. I went a few years ago to Legg Mason. I just walked up to the box office and bought a single box seat for all the afternoon matches for $65. It was a good seat too. I'll probably do the same this year.

I was pretty drunk by the time we saw the main event, I must've switched seats about 20 times in 10 minutes. I was also very obnoxious with my "whooooaaaaaaaaaaa" every time they showed the shot spot up on the big screen.

In other words you don't want to sit behind/next to/in front of/in the vicinity of me.

fark me. i waffled on buying the tix. so now what's available is:

    section 6
    row I
    seat 24

let me guess, jrs...you and your equally tall brother have seats for:

    section 6
    row H
    seats 23 & 24

right? right? unless i bring a phone book or two, i won't be seeing anything. good thing i bought those tix in row A from craigslist!

alice there will probably be plenty of seats and plenty of places to move around to get a better view.
and there hopefully will be a lot of awesome matches on the side courts where you can jump under the bleachers and find tennis ball souvenirs and topaz's cell phones from years gone by.

don't worry about it. we wil have a blast. (as long as JRK takes his ADHD meds) <--- although the joy you had w/ the instant replays was pretty hilarious that one night. but i don't think i'm allowed to sit next to you this year. :(
