Tennis Warehouse Playtest: Babolat Pure Aero

TW Staff

Administrator
Attention Talk Tennis Members:

We will be sending out a very limited number of the new 2015 Babolat Pure Aero racquets for a playtest. The racquets are factory pre-strung with Babolat Spiraltek. However, if you would like to restring, a set of RPM Blast 17 and a set of Origin 17 will be included in the playtest. This playtest is for USA Talk Tennis Members only.

IMPORTANT: Only grip size #2 (4 ¼) is available for the playtest, so please do not apply if this is an issue.

The application period has ended. We will notify the selected playtesters by email early next week.

We select playtesters based on a number of factors, including past performance on playtests, message board participation, message board history, etc. Due to the very limited number of racquets, we will not be able satisfy the large majority of requests.

This playtest is FREE of charge. The only thing that we require of you is to post your findings in this thread by September 25, 2015. If you do not post a review, or if your review is clearly lacking effort, you will be excluded from future playtests.

Please use the following to write your review:

Tennis experience/background:
Describe your playing style (e.g., serve & volley):
Current racquet/string:
String set-up in test racquet:
How many hours did you play with the racquet?
Comments on racquet performance:

-groundstrokes:
-serves:
-volleys:
-serve returns:

General reaction/comments on overall performance:

Thanks,
TW Staff

PS: We request you not post "Email Sent" posts to this thread. All of those posts will be deleted. Feel free to post questions or comments.

We appreciate you giving us the chance to playtest and review, TW! It will be an awesome opportunity for those you select!

Just curious as to how soon you plan on picking the testers and a potential ETA of when you might ship the test racquets? Sorry, just excited about this racquet's release! :D

Thanks again!

We will ship directly from Colorado via ground once the application process is complete and users have been selected. Excited to hear what you all think of the new frame!

There are multiple models of the Pure Aero correct? Which one of those models is being tested? Can you share the specs?
If I'm not mistaken, there are:
- Pure Aero PLAY
- Pure Aero TOUR
- Pure Aero
- Pure Aero Team
- Pure Aero Lite
As TW has said, this playtest is for the middle frame: Pure Aero

I have two Yellow/Black AeroPro 12 pack bags ( one going on year four and the brand new back up bag). these bags are the best I have found. (Yes I have three Steam 99S frames in my Babolat bag) ;)

Babolat listens and take feedback from rec players which is very rare IMO.

Daniel can confirm/expand, but the Pure Aero updates the AeroPro Drive. The factory unstrung targets appear to be the same > 300g/32cm/72RA. The Pure Aero family comes with FSI Spin technology, which has wider spacing @X's 5-12 along with oblong (larger) grommets (for greater string movement & snapback). Also comes with a more aerodynamic beam - and the Woofers are submerged/internal! The samples we received have higher swingweights than the current APD.

Wow I missed this..lol I was looking for it too. Oh well, I was more interested in comparing the Pure Aero Tour to the extreme Pro, but cool opportunity regardless.

I like the way Babolat and TW do this. What could be a better way to market and test a racquet, than have the tennis community test it and get the word out? Kudos and thanks guys!

Pretty much spot on. I'll check on the swing weight as our first sample batch was cosmetic for the sell-in.

There are some big changes to this frame. It's pretty amazing.

We have sent out an email to those selected to participate in the Babolat Pure Aero playtest. For those that have received the email, congrats! Please make sure to email back to confirm your participation. Failure to do so will result in being dropped from the playtest.

For those that were not selected, thank you so much for applying. We had so many applicants and only a few racquets to playtest. Please keep an eye out for future playtests for more chances to participate.

I found a bunch of pictures with a simple google image search of Garcia and the Aero Pure (yes,I know it's new now)
The PJ is awesome. They've done for thie Pure Aero what they did for the Pure Strike. two tone.
The throat looks even bigger.

Hello, I was just wondering if you knew when the playtest racquets were going to be shipped out by Babolat? I know the email on Monday said in about a week or two, but I didn't know if you or Babolat Official had a more concrete date now. If not, that is fine; I just figured it couldn't hurt to ask. Obviously, I'm anxious to test if you can't tell! :D

JohnyAbs,

The racquet were shipped out Wednesday/Thursday from Babolat's headquarters. We currently don't have enough racquets to give an exact spec swingweight but an estimate would be high 320s to low 330s.

Thanks,
Brittany, TW

Nostradamus,

The Babolat Pure Aero Plus will be launching in November. There is no exact launch date at this time.

Thanks,

Received it yesterday, played with it for about 2 hours last night. So far unimpressed. Might be the string on it. Babolat official and tw, we can restring correct? As long as it's rpm blast 17 or origin 17? Would a hybrid of the 2 be ok?

I received my racquet yesterday.

I would like to note that while I received the racquet I did not receive the extra strings RPM Blast and Origin 17 as indicated in the email.

It is a very good looking racquet and feels great.

I cannot wait to hit with it.

The email said that the racquet is ours to keep after the playtest so I believe we can string it to our liking.

What didn't impress you about it? I will probably receive mine on Monday...

This is my first real foray with an Aero. There are pros: EFFORTLESS power, great spin, great cosmetic, among many others. But there are some cons: STIFF. Almost too much power. Among others. But I reread the email and I saw the part that said we could keep the racquets so thanks for the heads up. I probably need more time with it.

TW, were we supposed to get a pack of origin and rpm with the package? Because I didn't receive either in the box and it wasn't on the packing slip but the email said it would be included

Definitely not a fan of the paint job, in my opinion, it looks terrible. Really similar to the head graphene extreme pro pj. the black and neon yellow/green looks really awful, almost like a faded 80s look.

On a side note, the new graphene XT speed pro has an awful paint job as well, this new trend with matte black and neon yellow/green look is really lackluster. Kind of like a failed attempt at some kind of low budget tron recreation.

What did you think of the maneuverability ?? compared to 2013 Aeropro drive ? Thanks. and how did it perform on volleys compared to previous model ?

seriously, i don't think you're going to get much comparison to the 2013 APD since FoldingChair has said this is his first real experience w/ any APD.
