Tennis Warehouse Playtest: Head Graphene 360+ Extreme MP/Tour

How many grams of lead are you guys putting on at the 10 and 2?
Depends on the starting spec and target. I have two that were 285 and 287 SW unstrung stock. I added 5 and 4 grams respectively to make them roughly 300 SW unstrung. The weight is spread evenly under the bumper. The racquet is definitely meatier now despite the low static weight - I replaced the weighted buttcaps with standard ones to save 4 grams.

Giving my Tour a second thought before I sell it. I am thinking about moving away from my SW grip to more of an Extreme Eastern. The MP I use is great, but recent injuries, decline in fitness, and lack of form have lessened my ability to grind out offensive rallies with the MP. The MP excels at offensive grinding, moving the opponent side to side and opening up the court. I think I might need something more capable of flattening out to end points. I'm returning to testing out my 360 Speed MP, 360+ Prestige Mid, Super G 8 315, and 360+ Extreme Tour. Difficult decision and hard to playtest them while dealing with an ankle injury. But in my last few matches, I was a bit frustrated with my inability to end points quickly with the Extreme MP. It's sad, but I think my decline in fitness and form has led me to wanting to end points sooner rather than constructing them.

I tried the Pure aero and it felt great.I feel kinda confident to buy the tour version of the PA.But how does it compare to the 360 pro?Or even the 360+ model?I understand, that the EP has more feel and power ,and the PA more spin right? My problem is,that I read all the time, that the PA isnt for flat hitters (Im not one),since the ball flies off the court.Does this apply to the EP as well?

Been looking at an Extreme 360+ MP as an alternative to PA - how many PJ versions does it have so far? Is the yellow/black the 360 version and the neon yellow and grey the 360+ version? Thanks.

those are definitely the last two gens.
unsure but doubtful there is a third?

the 360+ has been well received. Said to be a great and worthy update.

I have tested the TOUR. Against 4.5 and above, I feel it requires a little lead at 3/9. But I’m not really into modifying the hoop. I prefer to get something that has a stable hoop and then modify balance by adding weight to the handle.

So, having had tremendous success on my one week with the Pure Aero - I’m drawn back to the Extreme 360+. Arm pain on day seven, right after I was about to get a second frame. So good timing.

The Extreme.
THIS TIME THE MP.

While the TOUR (for me) would need a lower (50/51) tension and possible lively string for some pop and also lead/weight in the hoop - to add stability and plow.....

The MP would require slightly tighter (52-54) tension (already has enough pop) and deader but soft poly. Primarily though, it would require some weight at the handle - (about 3-6 grams). Fix that balance, while increasing swing weight only very marginally.

Yeah thanks. I get what you meant with the PA - as much as I enjoyed my time with the previous gen PAT (fb of multi btw..), I thought about the current PA, but I think I will stay aaay and therefore looking at the Extreme MP - the neon yellow and the grey version.
the aim is to look for a (new) tweener for the off days, and I am also waiting for the new Ripstick to hit the UK.. lol

Any other setups??? Lead , string etc
I’ve been playing this stick since I did the TW playtest in 2020. I ultimately went back to stock spec (305 gram, 31.5 cm balance, 285 SW unstrung) which plays the best for me. Leading it up +10-15 SW points made it too powerful. The frame is firm enough stock to be stable at 315-320 strung SW. It also has plenty of pop on full swings. It can be anemic if you don’t commit to your swing and weight transfer. Not super forgiving in terms of sweet spot size but when you find the sweet spot the response is great. Launch angle is pretty low and I wouldn’t consider this frame a spin monster compared to other offerings in its weight class. It does have tremendous maneuverability though which helps with tip speed so it has spin potential. I actually think this frame’s strength is the ability to flatten the ball.

I’ve tried a lot of different string setups. If you’re looking to open up the sweet spot I thought Hyper G Soft 1.20 worked really well. Lynx Tour 1.25 is nice in this stick as well but the response will be firmer and more controlled. ALU 1.25 was a little too powerful for me so next time I will increase the tension. Currently using hawk 1.25 mains and lynx tour 1.25 crosses which is probably the best combination of stringbed predictability and longevity for me in this stick so far.

Thanks for your thorough reply ,
What frames would you consider for a extreme semi western grip - forehand like mine(whippy windshield wiper finish etc). Also a one hander. I demoed Pure aero vs , radical mp didnt like them. Ezone 98 was very good but much harder than ET!

You might like the Vcore 98. Higher launch angle and more spin than the Ezone and ET. More power and harder to flatten out the ball though.

Than he could try the MP, high launch angle, more spin, wide 16x19 pattern... I play the same, extreme western topspin forehand, one hander backhand, agressive claycourt baseliner. I tested it with various strings, it plays the best with TBHS7T, just tames the force of this powerful stick. The MP could use a few grams on the bottom though.

Can anyone compare the ET vs Ezone 98 and vcore 98? do they play similar? which is more powerful? best topspin? better feeling?
Greetings

I'm a VCORE 98 + user (2021), but I've been dabbling in the Extreme Tour for a bit now (albeit w/ a manually extended one). From my short time using it I'd have to say the VCORE has a bit more power and spin, although I was still playing around w/ string and tension on the Extreme Tour when my extension 'failed' (pallet cracked near the butt cap). Feel is similar in that they're both muted, but to say one is better is completely subjective. If you're a young player who likes to take huge cuts, the Extreme Tour is definitely worth a look.

I actually just ordered a few more pallets and am going to give the extension one more go (3rd times a charm!), using epoxy this time instead of staples to attach the butt cap. I'll try for a better comparison in a few weeks.

I’ve hit all three extensively. Vcore 98 has the most pop and highest launch angle. Ezone 98 is in the middle. ET is the most controlled, however, it allows you to swing out which results in a heavy, penetrating ball. All three frames are muted, the Vcore 98 is the most muted followed by the Ezone 98 and then the ET. All flex differently too due to their different beam geometries. The Ezone 98 has the stiffest hoop and most flexible throat. The ET is pretty firm overall but has some nice flex in the shaft which helps with comfort. Vcore 98 has firmer throat and shaft but flexier hoop relative to the others.

What tension did you try with ALU 1.25? And what tension do you play with when using Hyper G Soft 1.20 and Lynx Tour 1.25?

All strung on a Babolat Sensor constant pull (no prestretch) at 50. Will probably go up to 52-54 on ALU and HGS. LT is the firmest so 50 was fine/slightly underpowered. Hybriding LT with Hawk 1.25 was better. Will probably try a fullbed of Hawk next.
