The 1/2 caps reminds me of the TX Master; 18 x 19 Graphite/Fiberglass/Twaron; made in the USA.
I tell players the Blade 104 was "inspired" by that frame.

I was thinking I could use these half cap grommets to replace the ones for the comp pro! This way I no longer need to take a utility knife to trim down the full caps.
You can't. This Graphene Touch Prestige Mid (Rev Pro) is bigger Head size, wider beam, and is 16x19.

Most of the 'constant whining ladies' around the table have not played with the old prestige mid for years, not that they don't have a few at home, they simply got busy shopping for other frames. So, ladies, excuse Head for trying to change things up, they're trying hard to get you to do exactly what you do best: buying new frames :p

I for one have a real interest in any arm friendly player specs mid frame with more open string pattern than 18x20. Glad Head keeps on trying to modernize their mid... and this one looks promising (specs wise). Wilson should have tried the same with their Blade 93, but didn't.

Now, lets get those reviews going shall we :)

I have already put a little over 2 hours on the test racquet since my post yesterday. Drills, practice sets and multiple tiebreaks. I plan on hitting the 20-25 hour mark and then presenting my review. Good news is that I play indoors at the local college facility and have 24 hour access to the courts. Excellent for bitter winters up here.

I play with my Prestige Classic 600 everyday. So, you must be talking about yourself lady
Head has been failing with the Rev Pro for the last 4 years.

You are very lucky to have this kind of access to quality indoor courts!

First hit with the Tour today. Mine is 11.6 oz strung with overgrip. 4pts hl Balance. Haven’t gotten over to the RDC to check swingweight yet.

Wow, is this thing stable. It plays like a 12+ oz frame for me when redirecting pace and on returns. It’s still maneuverable on defense, and it was light enough to whip spin levels up. This might be a switch for me

My Tour is back from the stringer and with super grap OG it’s 327g and 32.6cm balance. It’s strung with 125mm poly string.

looks fantastic man! What string n tension? Also head recommends two piece string jobs on their rackets if im not mistaken so you might wanna talk to your stringer and let him know....unless offcourse you prefer one piece and requested it like tht...i see two knots and Im a beginner stringer myself so have lately started noticing stringjobs..thats why asking...either way, enjoy my man!

It is strung with Halo 2 an Angell string. I know most people won’t be familiar with it but it is a pretty comfortable copoly with really nice spin. I never really paid any attention to how my stringer does the stringing. I have never had an issue or problems with his stringing and he is a pretty good guy. He strings all racquets for both men's and woman’s Northwestern University teams.

Cool, I gotta try Halo 2 one of these days..what was ur tension in your Tour?.. I have a set lying around..also string job looks good actually, knots are clean and look tight so no knocks on the stringer really.....i was just curious about one/two piece since i recently started stringing myself on my basic gamma drop weight...

Yeah, it does look like a one piece string job and tension is @49lbs! Halo 2 worked really nice in a TC95 but the TC100 was just too much power and broke it in 3rd hour. Since the tour is an 18x19 so more closed pattern, I thought it would be a nice match.

I sure am happy i picked Halo 2 to string the Tour racquet. It seems like a really nice match for it. Hit for two hours this morning and first impressions are pretty good. Two small complaints that are fixable but I enjoyed the control and precision of this frame.

hi, which complaints? How do you feel, after this first session, the power level and stability as compared to other frames you use(d)...?
thanks a lot

Had an initial workout with the Mid. It was a semi-competitive cardio tennis session (90 minutes). Comfortable power, but not easy power. When I was lazy, or out of position, the balls were short of their intended point. The comfort was there, but I usually stay away from poly due to a lengthy battle with TE. Strung by my friend, and the head pro at the shop I work in, at 49# with Lynx. I now understand the fuss about the level of control and precision of this racquet. I was hitting some up reachable angles. Volleys...perfect. Overheads were a blast. I can't wait to play sets Tuesday night and serve. For good measure, I usually play with DR100s that have been customized to 11.80 oz and 8 puts HL and strung with Velocity, NG or NXT. I will complete a proper review after a more extensive playing experience.
Thanks again TW and HEAD.

Well, keep in mind I’m not trying to write my review early ;) But basically I would add more weight to it and move up to an L4 grip. It’s a very nice combination of power/control/precision mix. Played a few practice games and serves and returns are pretty respectable.

do you have a prestige MP (old model IG or G or XT) if yes, can put a prestige MP on the top, to give an idea of the difference of head size
and if you can take a pics? (it will be perfect)

thanks in advance

I have had the pleasure to do some stringing and customization work for @topspn. I have seen the string jobs from his stringer and they are first rate to say the very least! I hope that this is not breaking some sort of stringer - customer confidentiality rule!

again...like I said above...wasnt picking on quality of string job...simply saying HEAD recommends two piece for their racquets and I was curious because its a one piece job and I myself am a beginner stringer so was simply an observation..and pbody above informed me that atw parnell method can still satisfy HEADs requirement of stringing crosses top to bottom using one piece method..i even mentioned knots looked great. My post wasnt a knock on topspns string job at all....i have no doubt the string jobs are good quality..was just curiosity :)

I hit this morning with the Tour but split time between a couple of frames. My hitting partner today commented he was surprised at the kick I’m generating on ground strokes. He said they weren’t kicking up high but kicking forward and through the court and caused him problems. I think the combo of string I picked and frame are a good match.

Hello @Faris just was complimenting @topspn stringer. You are totally correct that Head wants their frames cross strings strung from the top down. I like that you are observant and detail oriented. In my opinion that will help you be a very good stringer.

Now i am really eager to try Halo2!! as the Tour is 99 sq inch, did you feel tension at 49 was good? For guys with mid prestige, would you recommend going lower for them? For some reason i have a feeling that head size for 93 and 99 are going to be not that much different with the new way head is measuring head sizes

There are some really knowledgeable stringers on TT. Keep stringing as many frames as you can. There are also a lot of great videos posted here as well as on YouTube. I have learned a lot here on Talk Tennis and appreciate the knowledge sharing that happens in this community.

I must say the head size on the tour is generous for a 99. Yes, I heard they changed to measuring the head size from the inside were before it was from the outside. Apparently, measuring head size from the inside is the industry standard. I think the tension was a good starting point for the Tour/Halo 2 and I could have went to 48lbs easily. I took Halo 2 down to 46lbs and it played great in a TC95.

Measuring head size inside or outsider is a tt myth... Try to check a Prestige ontop of a Blade, you’ll see what I’m talking about. Head size is not something exact, just some marketing bs.

Agreed. I had been stringing framed for over 15 years when I joined TT. Thought I knew most everything. Then @Irvin mentioned 2 words that made my stringing life so much better: Yonex Loop. I am forever grateful.

On a side note, it’s killing me, this thread. My demo is sitting at home as it arrived 2 days after we left for Florida. Would have loved to have it with me this week, but will have to wait until I return Wednesday to start my play test.

For most frames the area of an ellipse works just fine.

So you’re saying it’s more like 105” or more like 98”?

Interestingly we just returned from Ft. Lauderdale area (Boca Raton specifically) after a week of vacation early last week. The 75 degree weather middle of December was just plain ridiculous. Floridians, with their tennis facilities and weather, are so spoilt. Hope you took your tennis bag with you.

Oh i absolutely agree....and I would specifically like to mention @Irvin as well, just like McLovin mentioned...as he helped me with a few videos when i was starting learning to string amd in general as well....was very helpful....most of the tt community in racquets and strings and equipment section in general is pretty helpful indeed!

Looks like this thread has drifted to a “pat on the back for all the great stringers.” 5 pages and not much about the racquets. Granted, it is the holidays. By the time anyone gets around to reviewing these we’ll probably be able to demo them for ourselves.

Relax please! Have a glass of wine and chill, it is the holidays and no one will write a full detailed review after hitting a few hours. I have spent 4 hours of court time with the Tour frame, and so far I’m impressed with this frame. There you go mini review ;)

Sorry, not a prestige guy or even Head frames for that matter so I can’t make these types of comparisons when I haven’t played these old frames. My review will be playability of this Tour racquet and probably some references to current playing stick or other sticks I have played with.

No problem, your review will hopefully help Head recover some of the lost buyers who switched camps when the latest lines stopped playing like the older prestige classics.
