Tennis Warehouse Playtest: Head Gravity Tour

With the 2023 Yonex vcore looking a lot like a head type shape, a side by side would be interesting
Yeah this is a good point, I used the Vcore 98 for a while and interested in comparing the two. Loving the TF 305S, but this and the new Whiteout are options I would considering testing against.

Interesting. So was this something specific only to the 98 and not the 100?
The sound is for sure, since it has a half CAP grommet system at the head like the Prestige, but it doesn’t go all the way around. This causes a “whistling” sound when people swing the racquet. It would be interesting to hear this in person since I only read about it and heard it in videos myself.

The aerodynamics and design of the half CAP definitely makes the whistle sound. It's a very smooth head guard with a small thin lip right at the center of the grommet that allows for the whistle sound. For those few number of people who deny that there is such a sound, you really have to have a fast swing to produce the whistle sound. Usually on fast forehand swings or serves.

Generally it is considered a "good thing" to be able to produce slight swoosh sound when swinging, since it asserts that you have a fast swing. But not really sure how these sounds affect confidence during a play.

I'm really interested in trying out the new GT. I haven't had the chance to play one yet, but the specs look amazing. It looks like it's retaining the Gravity DNA while trying to provide easier access to power and spin. I've followed reviews from influencers, but I'm excited to read reviews from the average club players!

Man! I just saw this and missed the application deadline. Congrats to everyone chosen. This one should be a blast to participate in.

If you were to be selected for the playtest, and if you wanted to string it with a hybrid of Velocity MLT and Hawk Power, how would you do it? Poly main or poly cross? Tension?
Hawk Power main 46 lbs, Velocity cross 52 lbs.

I realize that all the Head racquets I currently own are 18x20 pattern. Speed Pro, Radical Performance Tour etc etc...
Had been playing with the Speed Pro for last couple of days, and just strung up the Radical Tour for some weekend adventure. Of course I still miss my classic prestige which got stolen a few years back.

Ohh wait.... I have 2 Extreme MP as well, which are of course 16x19. I can hit some heavy shots using these, but there is something about its balance that I don't like for using for longer hitting sessions.

I’m also in! Even though I’ve been in a few string tests, this will be my first ever racquet test and I’m so excited. Especially because I just completed my last exam and will have 6 weeks off school so I can devote a lot of time to this test. I will be very thorough! I’m really looking forward to this. Thank you TW and Head.

PS, for to confirmation email, can I just reply to the email that says I was selected or do I need to send a new separate email? Thanks!

I think they posted recently that chances of getting in are typically about 5%
I would suggest getting into every string play test and posting a lot in the forums.
To my eyes people who are constantly in string tests tend to get lucky a lot more.
@Chris Wilson @TennisManiac

It can be tricky. Make sure you're actively posting in racquet and string forums with quality feedback about different racquets and steing setups you're using.

Also, don't necessarily try to get in on every single playtest. Make sure you try for the ones you really do want to try and have a reasoably objective frame of reference for.

Check your spam or junk folder. Or wait a little and you should get the email soon.
Thank you! I haven't seen anything yet, but I am eagerly awaiting this playtest. Should be a fun comparison with my EZ98, V2 WO 16x19, and my Tfight ISO 305.

I'm in and should have it next week. It'll be nice to spend a bit more time with it. I did a 3-session demo back when just the teasers were out and had good impressions. It'll be nice to put it through the paces again and check it out at my preferred specs as well. Doubt it will lead to a switch or anything, but I will at least have my fun!

eagerly awaiting your thoughts. Lmk if i need to switch from my babs. ;)

Just received it last night. The paintjob looks pretty great in person. The beam shape also kind of reminded me of the Blade’s D-shape, but softer. I’ll will measure weight, balance, and swingweight before stringing it, however that will have to wait until I’m done moving. Shouldn’t be more than a couple of days.

Managed to set aside some time and measure the unstrung specs (with plastic on handle):

Weight: 304.6 g
Balance: 31.8 cm
Swingweight: 292

Also, I did some swings without strings and was able to produce the "whistling" sound. It doesn't bother me in the slightest.

This has to be one of the prettiest looking frames in recent memory. The blue and black plus gloss is always a favorite combo of mine. Excited to see what the play testers say about it in their reviews! Congrats on everyone that got in!

Not only that, the blue fades into the black on the inside and outside of the hoop, so it's not just the Aux 2.0 design in a Gravity blue color.

Got mine in this morning. Looking at 306g/32.3cm/295sw unstrung. Pretty close to on spec which is nice! Will update as I go.

I just got mine in the mail yesterday and strung it up with my trusty tried and true Kirschbaum Pro Line II 17g at 49lbs and I plan on hitting with it today and tomorrow.

First impressions:
This is one of the prettiest looking retail frames I’ve seen in a long time and feels really good in hand. It’s a full gloss not half or semi gloss like Head has done in the past.

This racket comes with a standard butt cap unlike the weighted 6g butt cap that came in the Extreme Pro that I play tested last summer so there is some easy room for modification if you don’t like the balance and want something more headlight.

Specs:
Surprisingly the specs were spot on as advertised so that was a pleasant surprise as Head can have some suspect QC.

I can’t speak to the sw because I don’t have a way to measure it but it feels like the 328 advertised.

Unstrung
32cm/7ptsHL, 304g/10.7oz

Stung w/ overgrip
32.5cm/5.5ptsHL, 328g/11.6oz

Strung w/ overgrip and weighted butt cap
32cm/7ptsHL, 334g/11.7oz

Just chiming in here to say I think this racquet is fun as hell. Great spin, great on serve, great feel. Solid at contact, easy depth. Ball can fly and it’s not always forgiving, but addictive high points.
