Attention Talk Tennis Members:

We have a unique playtesting opportunity for you! We are offering a very limited playtest of one of the newest brands we carry, Maurten, that focuses on fueling the body during competition. This playtest will be with their Test Collection which includes 1 Drink Mix 320, 1 Drink Mix 160, 2 Gel 100, 1 Solid 160 and a water bottle. There is no caffeine in these and they are considered fueling (not energy). Additionally, Daniil Medvedev has been seen using it on court during his matches and it is very popular in the running and cycling worlds. This playtest is open to Talk Tennis members living in the contiguous US only.

You can find more info on the specific products on our page: https://www.tennis-warehouse.com/Maurten/catpage-MAURTEN.html

***For this playtest, we would require 4-5 training sessions of at least two hours each of singles or drilling (if doubles, it would need to be 3 hours or more). You will playtest 2 days of drink mix, 1-2 days of gels. And a training session were you consume a solid (bar) after. We will provide more specifics to those selected playtesters.***

Application period is now closed. Selected participants will be notified via email by Wednesday, September 9th.

We have a very, very limited quantity of the Test Collections to playtest. We select playtesters based on a number of factors, including message board participation and performance on past playtests.

What we look for in a playtester:

1) A user that is in good standing - no excess warnings on Talk Tennis
2) A user that is participating on the forum- we look for a participant that is actively participating/posting on the forum on a weekly basis and has at least 100 posts (although we do make exceptions)
3) A user that is participating in threads on the racquet forum and bonus points if it is in threads that are related to the racquet being playtested
4) Participation in a string playtest- we offer monthly string playtests that are much easier to get into. If you show great effort there, it will standout for the next racquet/shoe playtest
5) if you have playtested a racquet/shoe in the past- we look for good effort in the comments, turning in your review on time and actively participating in the thread throughout the playtest

We do try to spread the wealth, if you have participated in either a racquet/shoe playtest within the year, chances are you won't be selected for a racquet/shoe playtest (we do make an exception to the rule if we see a user that stands out, doesn't happen often). Each playtest contains a mix of users that haven't participated in a playtest before, users that haven't been selected in over a year and users that show exceptional effort in recent string playtests.

I'd be curious what the feedback is like. Just going by the nutritional information labels as shown on the product, the potassium/protein to sugar/sodium ratio is quite low. I'd be all over this if they could have put more minerals and protein into these. Still interested in how the sugar in these products can be delivered faster than more conventional sources of carbs, though.

These products are quite different from a typical Gatorade and other sports drinks.
The key point is that it is primarily a carbohydrate-fueling product, rather than a high-electrolyte hydration drink.
I'm really curious to try this one. The carbohydrate formulation is one of the things that caught my attention. I'll be interested to see if I notice any difference in energy and endurance during longer tennis sessions.

I get severe cramps from playing tennis if I don’t take electrolytes. The ones sold at TW did nothing to prevemt cramps, and the most effective one I’ve found was Ekkovision electrolytes. I’d like to test this out and see.

We are still in hot and humid summer days. Hope to test these out before Fall kicks in, with mild weather (less exhaustion).

There is no need for protein during exercise. Electrolytes are also not needed nearly as much as people think

This is one that I've having a hard time not pulling the trigger on applying. I can commit to 2 hour training sessions on Fridays, but the number of sessions required would put me at least a month out. Also, as @ttgrinder stated above, we are nearing the end of summer. After summer conditioning, the fall tennis schedule is usually not as grueling even though it is more frequent. The next singles league that I might sign up for doesn't start until mid-late October. My biggest concern is duration of playtest....I'd hate to sign up and not be able to meet the requirement.

I think if it were at least 6 weeks after receipt, but preferably 8 weeks, I could reasonably expect to meet the requirements. I'm also into the 4th round of playoffs for Ultimate Tennis, so there's a chance that I'll have a long doubles match upcoming.

I’m in for the playtest! Thank you. It’s still miserably hot (and humid) in SoCal. Maurten products will be thoroughly tested.
