I am stoked for this combo. I'm currently experimenting with shaped polys in the mains and slick/round polys in the crosses. Really would like to compare against my current setup of Big Hitter Silver 7 Tour / Grey Fire. I'll be testing / purchasing this regardless of if I'm selected!

I love to playtest with the different hybrid setups. I am always looking for the hybrid combo that will enhance my game. My current go to hybrid setup is Kirschbaum Max Power Rough (16 gauge/1.30 mm) as the mains at 52±1 lbs, and Head Lynx Tour (17 gauge/1.25 mm) as the crosses at 52±1 lbs. For Head Lynx Tour, I like the Champagne (Gold) color string the best as the crosses. It just feels better for me than Grey or Orange color strings as the crosses.

Ooooh this seems really excited. Super small gauges! I wonder how arm-friendly this is. I’m currently testing a hybrid with Prince Vortex on my mains and ReString Sync on my crosses. I hope this hyper g hybrid plays well

I've been looking for a string set up to open up the string bed on my 18x20 blade. The thin gauge and hybrid might give me that and the extra spin/launch angle I'm looking for. If it's green to match that's a plus too but promising to say the least.

This seems like a great combo for the hot weather that is headed our way next week; looking for more control; i.e. lots of spin potential.

Hope I get picked playing around with standard offered Solinco strings full bed right now, and appreciate the optimal combination as directed by manufacturer.

Now this is something a lot of us have been waiting for! I have played Hyper-G quite a bit and like it, but like it better in a hybrid. Hybriding with Solinco's own is something I haven't tried yet but can't wait to try.
I think this has the potential to realize the Hyper-G dream !! Seriously, a nice combo. It would really be fun to play around with various gauge choices and tensions. I could spend a few months just on this!!

Interesting. I had tested HyperG round in fullbed before, and really liked it in fullbed, even more than the regular HyperG. But ofcourse it would be an intersting test.

And yea it make more sense to put HyperG round in the crosses and the shaped HyperG in the mains when hybriding, for better ball pocketing and slide. I would think it may have a higher launch angle than the fullbed of HyperG round.

It didn't specify but I'm assuming they want the round in the crosses.
Yea, that is what makes more logical sense. Mains could use the sharper edges for more ball-to-string friction. Round crosses possibly helps with the sliding and also longitivity of the mains (more time for notches to develop on mains).

@taydbear7 and @Chairman3 @SlowTiger and @M Pillai I am sure the hybrid is of your choosing, BUT it does make the most sense to put the shaped string in the mains and the round smooth string in the crosses.
As for the duration, if you know these strings you'll likely have an opinion right away, but I think this is more to reveal the different phases strings go through.
I like the thinner gauge that is going to be playtested ! Could you imagine having a selection of "soft" and regular, different gauges and different Solinco string families (Hyper-G Tour Bite Confidential among many others ) to choose from.
The mind boggles !!

That may speak to your preferences of round versus shaped polys? Do you have one?
I feel like there is a definite discernible playable difference between them even the “high spin” round polys, the shaped ones particularly Tour Bite and Hyper G just really spin a lot more.

I'd say 10 is a good amount of hrs anyway. That's about how many hrs I put on the string unless it hurts my arm or it's really bad
10 hours does seem a little long I’ve recently been doing (6-8) but given the constraints of the play test I’m looking forward to giving the bed longer life. I used to restring twice a year and a lot of strings actually seem to play best. Once the tension has dropped a bit and the bed is settled in. Or at least I used to think so. But I had a twinge of tennis elbow and since then I’ve been obsessive about changing out to strings. Plus doing my own and tinkering has added incentive.

@dudu I do have a preference for shaped poly mains, but what I really like are strings that work for me!
Solinco strings generally do for me. Solinco has really changed the game though with the sharper sided strings - I am a fan and feel good about playing Hyper-G, Tour Bite or Confidential.
That does not preclude enjoying round polys and I often like a firm round poly cross.

BTW I just got the acceptance e-mail. Who else is joining me in this Solinco Hyper-Fest ?

I like that the package says you can do the hybrid either way and tells you what the intended benefits are for each.

Naturally I think the shaped string will provide max benefit in the mains but it is good for them to say you can do either.
Makes me intrigued enough to get a second set and try the round in the mains.
(Come on happy hour price for this hybrid)

Why do you go lower in the mains?
@SlowTiger I started playing like this a few years back and it transformed my game, so I've stuck with it. I don't always do it, for example if I'm playing a Yonex racquet, but generally I will. I feel I get better pocketing, spin and control.

As a first impression, I am quite pleased with the Hyper-G hybrid @ 44 / 46. Good power, good feel, good spin and a nice thud when I connect on my groundstrokes- hoping it plays like this for a while !! This Hyper-G hybrid combo feels better to me than a full set of Hyper-G and feels much softer than the stiffness ratings on TW would have you believe. I didn't play too long with it today (just an hour) before switching back to my go racquet (also a Hyper-G hybrid with Kirschbaum Flash) for my matches. I like to get a couple warm up sessions in before I introduce a new set up in a match. All I can say is this Solinco set up is very promising.

Interesting. I tend to play with similar tension. I might need to try this out

Popped a string in one of my mains (PSVS) during a league match yesterday. As soon as my playtest arrives I'll be throwing them in! As a frequent hyper g user from 2021-2023 (57# in a blade v7) and tour bite user this past year, I'm really interested to see how this plays.

I'm curious y'all's thoughts on tension. The last full bed of poly I played was a round poly at 48# in a Blade 100L. I'm undecided on whether I will put this in a Pure Strike 100 (16x20), Blade 100, or Blade 100L. I suppose I could also go with a Blade v7 or v9 18x20, but I'm thinking this setup is better suited for a more open string pattern.

I'm heavily leaning toward the Pure Strike or the Blade 100 as they both have lower stiffness RA than the 100Ls. I have until Thursday to decide.

I'm going to go with the shaped mains and round crosses. I want a heavier ball, and not a more powerful one. While comfort is not my focus, I would like to reduce some of the harshness. I'm thinking of going in the neighborhood for 45#, or maybe copying that of @StringStrungStrang

I received a Solinco Hyper-G / Hyper-G Round playtest email notice last Friday (6/21/2024), and the string package is scheduled to arrive on Thursday (6/27). I am excited to playtest Hyper-G hybrid combo with a Solinco overgrip. Thank you to Solinco and @TW Staff for this playtest opportunity.

@Cowboy I am liking mine so far, but a pound or two more seems like it would work depending on the racquet you choose. My Pure Strike is 98. If you are a bigger hitter I think it could be nice higher too. Just a hunch but the Hyper=G round seems a bit more compliant than OG (Original Hyper-G).

Never had the 18x20, but I swear the blade v7 and hyper g (16x19) are a match made in heaven

Appreciate the feedback. I'll probably go 46 M&C. That's not a huge difference from where I'd normally put poly.

I'm afraid it would be too stiff in a tighter string pattern. I do like the v7 though.

Everyone likes it a little different! I personally found hyper g to compliment the v7 because the 16x19 v7 always felt a little too soft, and the crisp hyper g seemed to balance the feeling and pop nicely for me

Looking forward to reading your feedback with your setup!

I’m in! I got my acceptance email today!

I like the idea that they give you the option of which string to put in the mains as I was playing around with a round main and shaped cross poly hybrid years ago (I have a post on here somewhere about it).

Probably going to put it in my Yonex VCORE SV 98 at 50lbs but not certain on the configuration yet. I may try round mains and shaped crosses just to be different and have some variety in the reviews as there will be a lot of play testers with shaped mains and round cross but that’s TBD.

I'm sad that I missed out on this playtest due to being busy with school/work. I really wanted to try setup for myself with Hyper-G in mains and Hyper-G Round in crosses. In any case, looking forward to reading all the reviews!!!

Having played with both Hyper-G regular and Hyper-G round full beds, really excited to test hybrid 48lbs main / 46 lbs cross.
I loved the feel of Hyper-G regular but found it easier to hit heavy with Hyper-G round, so theoretically this should give me a good balance between the two.

@m1yeh so far I like the hybrid better than a full bed. Seems a little softer a little more comfortable and still plays with enough pop, spin control and feel. I am surprised at how comfortable it has been. I expected the spin and feel the power level is quit good without being too much. These strings are checking a lot of boxes in a positive way and I am finding the launch angle to be right in my sweetspot. A couple hours in and the response is predictable and consistent, which is necessary for players to trust their setup and play to their potential. What I can say is that most poly users would find these much to their liking!

Still waiting on my strings and deciding which racquet to put it in.....

Gravity Pro or Pro Staff 97, they're having a face-off for my next racquet of choice.
Had to abandon my Whiteout, just wanted a little more, I guess "pocketing" feel. I'm not an expert with the descriptors.
