I'm in the pure drive playtest so I will refrain from signing up, but this seems to be a very interesting playtest! I love hyper G, excited to hear the feedback.

Hypothesis: Solinco Hyper-G Soft will feel-wise fall in the range of Volkl V-Square (firmer) and Tour Bite Soft (target?).

Nice - been waiting for this string to come out. I was using hyper-g extensively last year but had to transition to softer strings. Now getting back to stiffer strings very slowly, and hoping this one is a nice bridge before jumping back into hyper-g.

Have used hyper g 17 in my mains as my go-to for a while and don’t suffer from arm issues, but can’t wait to hear what the playtesters think. Love me some solinco string.

Really excited for this. Have been using hyper g at low tension now for comfort and just now started exploring softer alternatives.

I'm gonna skip this one since I didn't really like TB soft and I think it's a great chance to let other forum members have a go. Hoping for some more playtests (racquet or string) soon, and good luck to all the playtesters! :)

I am torn about this. I had the 17g in my Prince 93P and absolutely loved it. I tried 16L in my Head Extreme Pro and the thing hurt my wrist so I had to cut it out.

I have tried both the Hyper G 16 and 17 and the difference was very loud compared to other strings. For me 17 gauge worked the best. 16 was too stiff for me.

a head to head comparison of HG, HGS, TierOne Boost would be nice to see.

@TierOneSportsOfficial 1.25mm Boost feels about as stiff as VC, both 1.25mm VC and 1.25mm Boost (FireWire mains/ Ghostwire crosses) feel stiffer than VCT 1.30 but doesn't hurt anything in my PA+ frames at 55M/53X. Around 14 hours now with the mains just starting to stick out of place. Will give Boost one more outing then restring with the same setup.

1.25 HG feels stiffer than 1.25 Boost IMO, so curious what 1.25 HGS feels like and whether 1.25mm HGS 55M / GW 1.22mm 53X comes in softer than 1.25mm Boost same frame same tension

Considering Solinco lists 16G as 1.30mm and 17g as 1.20mm, to expect anything different in terms of stiffest would be quite shocking. FYI, Solinco makes a 1.25mm version they label 16L

If you stick to the mm when buying or asking your stringer for strings, you will never get lost. Pretty easy to understand 1.30>1.25>1.20. And 18<17<16<15 in every math equation, but not when dealing with strings or wire. The whole 15/15L/16/16L/17/17L/18 for tennis strings is just too broad IMO. If the industry stopped using the 15-18 gauge numbers and just stuck with millimeters, there would be less confusion among players. 1.25mm is always 1.25mm. Shaped strings vs round strings measurement is a different story, but I will accept the measurements the companies use without questioning them. :)

I don't know what you mean by loud. 16 definitely plays firmer and a bit more powerful. 17 had better spin, feel, and touch for me. In the dense 18x20 frames that I tend to prefer, the 17 is definitely the winner.

The only problem I have ever had with Hyper G is how harsh it is at the net. To me its strictly a baseliner string.

I’m excited to hear stiffness level, spin is already gonna be good with hyper g, if it’s softer then it’s a go!

never tried hyper g, so can anyone comment on how stiff it was? compared to something like confidential or tour bite, maybe even to alu power or 4g.

It’s actually softer than those for me. I tried each at 48 pounds(except confidential) and hyper g was the softest. Alu power was medium stiff, and 4g at 48 was still very stiff. Hyper g has a gummy, sticky feeling and it is softest out of the three.

Softer than confidential and TB for sure. As best I can recall it would also be softer than ALU power. I've never played with 4G so can't compare.

Is it stiffer than sonic pro? even then it seems like a pretty soft string. hope that this hyper g soft keeps a little of the crispness I enjoy from a poly.

Hyper G tends to play with a pretty soft/comfortable feel. I also string at 48 with an approximate settled tension around 44. If you are looking for something with more crispness, confidential would be the next step up in the Solinco line before going to Tour Bite. You could also try Tourna Silver 7 Tour.

I've found that Hyper G can get a little mushy towards the end of its life so I'm trying out the Silver 7 Tour in my Ultra Tour and PC600 to see if it maintains that clean feeling a bit longer.

Depending on the gauge+tension it is stiffer. It isn’t soft like a multi, it just isn’t harsh like 4g. It has a unique feeling. It will probably just be less harsh, rather than be extreme pocketing without the crisp feel.

I did like the crispness of confidential. If regular hyper g is slightly less than that that seems fine. I will probably string my stuff aroung 52, so it will feel a little crisper for me.

didn't like 4g as a full bed. way too stiff. perhaps 4g soft would work, but never tried. trying to figure out a good poly that has good comfort, some crispness, and good spin. hybrids are good, but I feel like i lose some spin from my less than substantial form.

I'd also suggest the 17g over the 16 for Hyper G. That's just my preference though.

I meant I have used other 16 and 17 gauge strings. There are going to be some basic differences that one will notice going from a thicker string to a thinner one. I thought that difference in Solinco Hyper G was very big.

Interested to hear about this string. Right now I can't do full poly because I've got Golfer's elbow from doing pullups of all things.

Got selected for 1.20mm! I have a TC95 and Blade Pro 18x20 coming in within two weeks time. Super excited, I think it'll play spectacularly in the TC95.

I didn't apply but I'm looking forward to following along the reviews.
I applied, but I probably haven’t been around long enough to be on it. However I will be very interested in the reviews on hyper g soft. Hyper g is probably my favorite poly, and wonder if I would enjoy a softer version.

Keep trying and continue to stay active. You will get an opportunity down the road. Only reason was I had one good experience and one bad experience with Hyper G. The 17g was great but the 16g not so much. I wanted to wait and see what the reviews. If it's favorable then I might be a set of 17 or 18 to try it out.

Look forward to seeing others feedback. IMO the difference between HG and HG Soft was much much smaller than the one between Tour Bite and TB Soft. HG Soft just has a bit better feel on contact and is maybe a touch more lively but otherwise performs very similar to HG in my opinion. Not sure people who love HG will find enough reason to switch but I think HG Soft is a great candidate for people who like TB Soft but need something with a bit more controlled response and tension maintenance.

Got picked for the 1.25. Looking forward to this. Hyper G is just a tad to stiff so I’m very interested in trying the softer version.

I got accepted for the Hyper-G Soft 1.20, which is perfect as that is my typical gauge and I also have regular Hyper-G 1.20 to string up for a side by side comparison in identical racquets.

Thanks, Tennis Warehouse!
Doing the same with 1.25mm HGS and HG, then buying a few packs of HGS (to stock) and to compare to Tier One 1.25mm FW/GW vs 1.25mm HGS/GW. October won't see any 1.30mm VCT. :(

Just received the string package (17G). It’s my first experience with Hyper G string and am looking forward to thoroughly reviewing the string. Debating on which frame might suit the string the best. One of the hitting partners uses the Head Gravity Pro with Hyper G and plays really well & aggressive game with heavy ground strokes and relentless net game. He says that the string gives him the spin he needs (*more so than the Luxilon Alu Power & RPM Blast) to control his power, as well as placing his volleys. I‘m thinking of going to string It in the Gravity Pro as well, just to compare the pros and cons of the softer Hyper G with the regular Hyoer G. Any recommendations on the string tension? Should I go lower than usual, or higher?

I'll have to buy a set of HG 1.20 so I can offer a direct comparison between the two. I have Tour Bite in 1.25 and Confidential 1.20 as well so I can provide further feedback.

What's your regular string setup? It'd be best to go with your usual tension to remove as many variables as possible.

My regular set up is full bed of either the Alu or RPM Blast 16G or 17G at 50lbs. I'll try the Hyper G at the same tension. Thanks!

Well, don't know why the picture is sideways. Anyhow, will be stringing up both Hyper-G and Hyper-G Soft in matched SW104 racquets at a tension midway between what I used to use with 17 gauge Silver 7 Tour and what I now use with Cyclone Tour 1.20.

The string color looks just very slightly less green. I'm really looking forward to this test. Since deciding to move away from S7T, I kind of decided to go with Cyclone Tour but Hyper-G had always been where I thought I would go if I did switch from S7T. The Cyclone Tour won me over with its comfort as I'm still dealing with a wrist issue but I miss a bit of spin capability I get from S7T, and I've always felt that Hyper-G had a bit better bite on the ball than S7T.
