Fire 305s. My review:
Just beautiful.
Background, I've been playing w the TFight 300s for a while (older versions, and the new 300s I REALLY feel so connected with). Also played a bit with the previous TFX1 305 becausw I thought it was what I was looking for: a bit more mass, a bit more power than the TFight 300 (98). I never really felt GREAT with the TFX always seemed too bulky to me.
The new FIRE 305s fixed that bulky perception immediately, they reduced the section quite a lot, looks and feels more "pro" in the hand. The change in balance is noticeable too since the moment you grab it. It LOOKS better and that is a big deal.
Playwise: faster, much more easy to move. Still hefty but maneuverability much much better. Feels very solid though muted (of course its muted). When you play off center it does not feel harsh AT ALL, quite the contrary, doea not feel as stiff as it actually is. Feel way softer.
Groundstrokes: sooo nice, so powerful, ball launches, but I can still feel controlled, like I can control the ballflight which is very important to me. Racquet feela so smooth, but not completely muted like a negative. I feel the ball in the stringbed. FH are so fast, its easy to whip thru, and it does provide unexpected spin, some balls that I hit higher than expected drop in. When Im able to really accelerate my fh, massive spin, a very heavy ball is produced. W the old TFX I was sometimes late when trying to go for my fh, its much easier now w the FIRE 305s. Easier to whip passing shots too, w the wrist while on the run.
Backhands: my favorite (more reliable) shot. I could use more mass definitely. My 2hbh is flatter and I wanna hit more through the ball, steppin in. Its solid but def 3-5 more grams could help. Still quite okay, again easy to maneuver snd whip up when I want to hit sharper angles or a heavier topspin ball. When tryin to catch a shoulder high-ish ball, its easier to send a flat shot down the line than w previous TFX, easier to finish the shot.
Slice: need ti adjust still, sometimes Im off the shot, specially when returning hard 1st serves with a slice/block, Im miss hittin more than before. Surely its only a matter of time.
Serves: MUCH better kick serves, deifnitely more rpms. Flat serves are nice too.
Volleys: takes time to adjust since balls DO launch quite quickly...
Only dislikes maybe the grip size/shape: maybe because it is rounder than TFight grips, it feels larger. I use a #3 but Im gonna go and try a #2 see how it feels.
Arm issues: DOES help, if you have arm issues definitely give it a try w a softer poly, hybrid or even multifilament. XDamp is no marketinf scheme it does work.
Overal: GREAT racquet!
String: Razor Soft Lime 1.25mm 53 lbs.
