Tennis Warehouse Playtest: Wilson Ultra v5

I didn't apply, but i will interested in reading about these frames and the reviews. Do Sakkari and Azarenka play with either?

On a personal note I rejected the Ultra Tour/Pro 2x before making it one of my main frames that I play with so strings make a huge difference in addition to the evolution of one's skills.

Sakkari plays with Pro Open.

Does anyone else wish Wilson would make a mold like the steam 100 for ultra? Haha still curious to see how the 99 will play.

I would like to try a 99

I am Ultra excited to hear about the experiences from the chosen play testers..
And from those who didn't get selected who have access..
I Am a believer that the Ultra 100 can compete with the Pure Drive 100 and Ezone 100.
Looks like most of the excitement is centered around the Ultra 99 Pro v5, and the Ultra 100 v5 is kind of living in its shadow.
Curious to hear your thoughts — do you think the Ultra 100 v5 has the potential to outshine the 2025 Ezone 100 and Pure Drive 2025?

barring any big changes to the frame, I'm not sure if it'll take a chunk out of the ezone and pure drive...

How? The beam width is completely different from the aforementioned specs of the ultra 99 pro.

Jimmy8 said the beam looks 20-21 mm
I think we need to see some verified spec sheets to make determinations. If it is steam-like, then this could be a great racquet. The question would be if the general market would value it like racquetaholics do....

They made great progress with the Wilson Ultra v4, and I think it didn’t get the recognition it deserved. If they can reduce the stiffness, which is its main issue, I believe it could take the lead in the competition.

Interested to hear who's been selected for the 99 Pro so far. Will be keenly following your assessment, and holding you to a high standard in your review. So get ready to bring it!

I think expectations are really high for the 99. Will be interesting to see how the Steam gets reincarnated. I think it was originally designed to compete with the Aero Pro Drive, so hopefully we get some nice comparisons to the power/spin racquets on the market. The 100 v4, while being the prettiest stick made this decade, was one of the most okay racquets I've played. Nicer feel than an Ezone or 2021 PD but that's kind of its only advantage, and now with the 2025 feel being much more enjoyable and accessible, Wilson had a lot to do to make the Ultra 100 competitive imo.

Was looking forward to this playtest since the rumor mill started last fall so I'm a bit bummed I'm missing this one, but I'm looking forward to hearing if it's as promising a stick for my style as I think it will be.

What said that the Ultra 100 v5 is more competitive than the v4?

Oh I have no idea if it will be, sorry for implying otherwise. I just meant that Wilson needed to make pretty significant improvements at least somewhere in the 100 to be competitive with the other power 100s imo

Just received my racket. On first glance, the racquet paint looks incredible with the gloss.
Unstrung specs 303.9g / 32.5cm / SW300 / TW14

Racket has the same grommet system as the Blade v9, where the head guard can be removed to add lead tape underneath with removing the grommet from the holes. But, the two grommet holes to lock in the headguard was very difficult to put back after removal.

Time to string up the racket!!

Strung SW is going to be 328-335 depending on string and gauge. Your preferred specs. :)

How thick do you feel like the beam is? Thicker than a Pro Staff (21.5 mm) or Blade (nearly 21 mm)?

Thanks TW! Received my 99 Pro with Luxilon ALU Power 1.30mm and Wilson NXT Comfort 1.30mm. Quick check of mine: 306g static weight and beam widths of: 22.66mm tip, 23.7mm mid, 23.4mm throat area - not to be taken as official specs. The blue color reminds me of the blue on the Wilson Ultra FPK...don't remember if the FPK was glossy though.

It’s the same mold as the steam, but do we know if the layup for the new ultra pro 99 is the same? I may have missed it if it was said in another thread, couldn’t find a definitive answer when I looked
