Since I was on the playtest for hyper g soft I think I’ll pass but if it’s anything like ptp that will be great. By the way @TW Staff what color is the poly?

I never have played with Yonex string, and I would like to take a part in this playtest for Yonex co-poly 17g (1.25). My current setup is Head Lynx Tour 16g main @ 53lbs and Lynx Tour 17g cross @ 50lbs.

Can you comment on the stiffest of new shaped Yonex copoly in a 1.25mm gauge measure by TW's team? I am not applying for the playtest but would think that information is great information for potential playtesters. e.g. some players much prefer stiffer copolys while others prefer softer copolys. 1.30mm Lynx Tour and 1.30mm Volkl Cyclone Tour are two very different strings in terms of stiffness.

I have never tried a Yonex string before, I'm looking forward to reading the reviews even if I'm not selected.

I was in the playtest for the last Yonex string. I thought the string was solid. It wasn't great but it was bad either. I do know that it had great ball pocketing and the color matched my Diadem racquet :)

Hey g4driver!

We haven't hit it yet or tested it in the lab. We're hoping the playtesters can crack the code.

I'd be super interested in applying but today is the first day of a four week closure of indoor tennis, and probably also the first day of a four week period of nonstop rain. :(

Will be looking forward to reading about everyone's experiences. I was on the PTP test and thought that was a very nice string.

I do a little stringing and have recently switched to Yonex rackets and have quite a bit of Yonex string. I've tried a few of their strings and generally like them. I'm not sure if I've tried one of their shaped strings or not, but would love to do so. Quite a few of the people that I string for really like the Yonex string. Some use full bed and some hybrid. Hopefully this one will be a winner.

Will be interesting to see the construction and playability choice Yonex goes with here. I've been able to hit with Spin G and Poly Tour Spin, with the former being very lackluster and the latter actually being really nice, actually my brother's choice of string for a long while.

Perhaps this will be a refined version of Poly Tour Drive. Drive and Rev do sound related.

I enjoyed the HGS play test - however I’ll pass on this play test as I’m working on tweaking a current setup. I’ll be watching the feed back from this play test as a I like Yonex strings! Good luck play testers!

Thanks. Look forward to the reviews.

If you are the Jon or Jonathan/JDub from the Triax Podcast, thanks for that podcast. Truly a great podcast!

i saw on the yonex website that it'll be a SIF (silicon infused filament), so it seems to me to be a shaped Poly Tour Fire

These playtests are great! Otherwise, I’d only have stuck with what were recommended and worked out, which were the RPM Blast & Luxilon Alu Power. I‘ve been hitting with the Yonex, Solinco, Head and Dunlop strings, as well as the Kirschbaum and Pacific strings because of the knowledge gained from the discussions and reviews.

The edges aren't as sharp (I would say this is a round string if I didn't have the actual packaging), recalling back to the playtest I was on for Dunlop Explosive Spin. RPM Blast edges are more visible than PTGR.
(a little knock: the label on the backside of the packaging says BRIGTH ORANGE :) )
Also, does anyone know what "PTG" stands for?
Love the color. Might really be a shaped PT Fire. Playtesters were already selected and sets shipped out?

ptg stands for poly tour gut.

my set is coming in next Tues, looking forward to testing Rev out. Honestly, if its a shaped PTP I would be happy. Could just never get enough bite out of PTP to use it regularly.

They updated the initial post. It says 'December 29th'.

Curious to those who were selected: Did you get an email notification?
Sorry, I guess I meant to clarify how many hours we should play with the string. I'm guessing 10+?

To answer your question, I did get an email, but this is also my first playtest so I don't know if they always send an official email.

That is completely up to you. Some people will play it until it breaks or goes dead, some have had a single hit and stopped due to feeling a twinge in their arms. The basic rule of thumb is 'play until you have enough time to write an informed review'.

You can also start a running log on your playtest journey (which is how I approach it). I will usually write 3 entries for each category: my initial impressions, maybe 3-4 hours in, and then a final review. I do this because my memory isn't what it used to be, and will forget my initial feelings on the string come week 2 or 3.

Wow! I could not believe some playtesters received their strings already. I got selected notice on Tuesday (11/17) and projected arriving date is Monday (11/23). Then again, I live in Orlando, Florida. Thank you Yonex and @TW Staff for a playtest opportunity and I am super excited!

Super excited to get in on this playtest! @TW Staff How long do we need to playtest this string before writing our review?

Hey drc1911,

You have until 12/29 to post a review. We have not instituted any rules RE minimum time played, but we hope playtester discretion results in something north of 10hrs. You should have received an official email last night. For everyone else: if you don't receive notification by the end of the day Friday, you were not selected.

Thanks again for the opportunity to be on the playtest!

Just got my string in the mail, as I live on the west coast I always get TW products rather quickly. It is advertised as firm and BITE. It is a 8 sided bright orange string

"For baseliners with medium to fast swing speeds looking for a shaped string that grabs the ball for the ultimate spin experience."

My guess is it will play like a solinco Revolution, as it feels pretty stiff and firm in my hand when stringing. Obviously full review to come
