Tennis Warehouse: Yonex VCORE 95, 98, 100 2021 Playtest

310 is pretty low, I doubt Yonex would be THAT far under spec even if it was. Also what kind of string did you use. I believe TW uses a 16 or 17 gauge poly. If you used a thinner/lighter string that could affect it slightly.
Oehms Alu Pearl Rough 1.21/Tier One Ghostwire 1.17. Unstrung sw 281, strung 310. 13 less than TW specs. If TW measurements are correct it must be somewhat under spec even with 16g poly in it. The exact set up in a blade 98 18x20 increases sw by 32-33.

My VCORE 95 came in a few days ago and has an unstrung swingweight of 281 (310 strung with 1.21 poly). This is way lower than @TW Staff published specs. Did I get a way under spec frame or is there a mistake in TW's published specs? Weight and balance were very close to published specs and SW was measured with a calibrated Dunlop machine.

I bought 2 vcore 95 2021 and measured the sw on my head 3-in-1 machine. Mines were underspec as well ( 304 and 308 strung with 1.25 g)

I played with the 95 again tonight still strung with the 1.30 Poly Tour Rev and it was MUCH better this time. Tension was at 40 lbs now and played like a completely different setup with good control, and decent power. For me this VC95 really shines with low tensions.
Out of curiosity do you normally play with low tension in your polys? I’d be curious to try the poly tour rev at low tensions. For some reason I found it to be high on the power spectrum at 49, but it felt like a quality string that could become ‘deader’ at low tensions

man, why are yall still trying to punish yourselves with the 95 version. the 98 i get, and the 100 hides its thickness really well. hate to be a slave to yonex marketing but this line really is like a red sports car.

The main thing that was attracting me to the 95 was the 16x20 pattern but went I with the 98 because I already have a control racquet (VCP HD) and I was looking for something especially spinny to play on clay. Still want to demo the 95 this Spring.

Cause I’m 48 and a red sports car is what I need!
Your timing is awesome, I literally just finished stringing the 2021 95 about 15mins ago, so please don’t knock it, until I at least hit it a few times :)

Not to derail thread, but how is the fit? I’m interested in these shoes (maybe not red)

they are the most comfy tenny shoes i have worn. i had to go up a half size. in terms of support for aggressive movers, they are meh. they also arent particularly durable. but for 40+ league tennis, i havent found anything i like better.

im also reasonably sure they are discontinued and getting harder to find

Thanks! I have the rush 2.5 that I got really cheap and I like them but cannot find another pair. I think I'll give these a try as well then as your feedback almost sounds as how I feel about the 2.5. Very comfortable and I like them a lot for practice and social/doubles matches. I do have an issue in serious matches where I move more aggressively and really miss the Nike Cage 3 for that. The cages hurt after a couple of hours, but to use the "extension of my arm" cliche they use for racquets they were like an extension of my leg. Enjoyed them for hard matches where I didn't think about my feet, and I never had slippage in them. I hated for social matches where my mind is at ease and I realized they hurt a lot.

I love the Rush 3.0. Very comfortable. Durability is decent, not great. Feels more like a cushioned speed shoe as opposed to a super durable support shoe. They worked fine for me when moving aggressively.

i call them old mans shoes, partly bc old men at my club use them (including myself). they aint the flashiest, they dont have a bunch of tech, but my knees are always better off when i wear them

i thought the cage 4 was gonna solve my problems but it doesnt. i like the fit, but they feel heavy and the sole is hard. good for durability, but i prefer lighter and softer

The Wilson Kaos 3.0 is also very comfortable as well although it’s lighter and more of a speed shoe than the Rush 3.0.

The cages hurt after a couple of hours,
Yeah, I had the same issue with them. I loved the predecessor, but my feet just didn’t fit well with the 3s.

After trying various ASICS, I’ve settled on the KSwiss Hypercourt Supremes. Probably not the best stability, but I wear ankle braces all the time, so not a problem. But they are comfortable.

Meanwhile back in Vcore land......
Had my first hit with the 2021 95, it was a lesson and the balls were not new. This stick is ridiculously comfortable, strung with Strike at 50 lbs. And yes it’s muted, but didn’t feel too vague. Off centre hits are not an issue like on previous gens. So, as others have mentioned the stability and comfort have been improved. If you want a raw connected feel, look in the classifieds for older XI, D or Sv models. I still felt enough connection and will hit more with new balls before i say too much else. And even stranger I found good pace and didn’t feel the need to add weight like I did on the sv and 2018 models. Coach commented that was the highest paced and most consistent rallying that she has seen me hit. Yes, female coach and yes she can spank me anytime!

So my friend had the new Vcore 100 this morning and let me hit with it some.
Very precise, controlled predictable racquet!
More comfortable than previous versions without that harsh, upper hoop firmness.
The paintjob cosmetic didn't wow me in person, but I didn't notice any chipping on his frame either, so maybe Yonex is addressing that issue.

The feedback on the vcore is still more muted than I like, (obviously a personal preference), so I'll happily stay team ezone. But in the right hands, these new vcores can crank accurate topspin as much as any frame.

It was more controlled for me, but after a week or two with it, it became too powerful for me.

I switched to the 98.

Folks who have the 98....

in the video review, half of the players said, it didn't have that put away power. the other half said, it came with effortless power. LOL!

I don't find the racquet too powerful at all. Not as bad as a Prestige, though. I believe that power in the 100 is at a level 7 or 8. the power in the 98 is at a level 5 (1-10). you REALLY have to use your legs and shoulders to drive the ball with the 95 or 98 IMO, am I correct here?

I'm strung with 1.25 element 53/50 lbs.
I may go down to 52/49 next.

I've not hit with the new 98, but a friend that I paly with plays with the older version and I found it to have less power for me than the new VCore 100. I find the previous version of the 100 to be extremely close to the new 100. Just my humble opinion.

A few stats from TW university comparing the old and new 100:
Vibration reduction from 145 to 140.
Twist weight increase from 14.6 to 15.2.
SW increase from 320 to 324.
RA decrease from 69 to 66.
Sweetzone increase from 16 to 17.

For me, these numbers show through as the new model plays more stable and comfortable.

I am really interested in the new vcore 95, but I have seen posts regarding the lower swingweight than the one posted in TW specs. How light does it actually feel ? I am currently hitting with a Prince tt95 (2015) with an overgrip and 3 g total lead tape. It would be great if someone can compare both racquets!

Thanks

Anyone try out the 98+(2021) yet? if so, thoughts?
Currently hitting with one (got a demo from a friend). Have been using the 2018 98+ for the last 2 years, and this version is more headlight, which makes it a bit whippier.

There’s also a noticeable increase in spin, and is much more muted.

I like the increase in spin, and the muted feel. The ‘whippiness’ takes a bit of adjustment, especially on the forehand side, and may call for a wee-bit of lead to slow your swing down. Right now I’m trying to adjust instead of going the lead route.

TWU shows that the yonex vcore 100 is 6.1% more comfortable than the ezone 100 2022, and only 0.5% less comfortable than the gravity mp, I know comfort depends on the person and strings but in your opinions, do you consider the yonex vcore 100 a comfortable racquet?

Very comfortable. No arm problems at all.
