Tennis World Tour is Coming to PS4 in May 2018

The first tennis game of the current generation of consoles should arrive in the spring according to its creative director, Étienne Jacquemain, who has also unveiled new images.

Sony casually debuted the first footage of Tennis World Tour at PSX 2017 this weekend, a title which it seems to be taking a lot of interest in. This is alpha footage so it does look pretty rough around the edges, but one can definitely see the Top Spin inspirations in the action, with the animation-heavy movement and the timing-based power gauge.

It looks like the project’s moving in the right direction, but there’s a lot of work to be done. The match simply looks a little slow, and the ball isn’t moving with the kind of authenticity you’d expect from a real tennis match. To be fair, the developer’s got until May to polish things up, and hopefully this is one of those projects that will come together at the last minute.

Wow this looks HORRIBLE, the game play, like all BAD tennis games, looks like you're hitting the ball under water or through some gel. Top Spin 4 was one of the elite few to get this ball speed/motion/travel right.
I can already tell this game will be horrible.

Check out this brand new gameplay video

Wow, graphically that looks absolutely terrible about on par with Top Spin 2 on the Xbox 360. I believe at one point I saw Federer hit a 2 handed backhand in there too....

A bit worried about the player roster too if Monfils is the 2nd pro they're advertising to us as well.

I don't care about the graphics if I have fun playing a video-game, and Nintendo understood this a long time ago.

I don't disagree, as a matter of fact I play mostly retro games outside of sports games, but even Nintendo will push their hardwares limitations, it's just disappointing to see a game on the PS4 and XBox One look so poor. Poor graphics aren't a deal breaker but they are definitely a plus, especially in sports simulations.

It’s been far, far too long since we had a tennis game, as Sega, 2K and EA collectively gave up on the sport a good half decade ago, so in my opinion, one shouldn't be choosy :D

I'd politely disagree: after all video games is mostly entertainment. If it's not that good, I'm not going to jump on it regardless because there's nothing else on the market; I'll just seek entertainment somewhere else.

By the way, for those who have a Switch and have missed this bit of info... No precise date besides "Spring 2018".
