Update TP!?!?
match is scheduled for Sunday evening.

I’m about to go rock climbing with my d1 opponent and older brother (who was in my class).

His brother played number 1 singles all throughout high school until I joined the team senior year and beat him 8-3 in our challenge match.

his brother is now a first lieutenant in the army and a big power lifter. He is 5’7”, 175 lbs, and has a 315 bench, and 400+ lb squat and 450+ lb deadlift. He’ll be in Maryland for the next 4 weeks then he’s moving to Germany where he’ll be stationed for 2 years.

I beat him 3/5 games in ping pong yesterday to 21 then got destroyed by his little brother 21-19 and 21-9.

How much can you bench, squat & deadlift?

Update: my buddy just told me he’s gonna need to postpone our 1 set match for a few days now.

Him, his brother, and their girlfriends went on an 8 hour hike in Virginia yesterday. He said he woke up this morning and his ankle feels pretty sore, he must’ve twinged it on some uneven terrain during the hike…

Your strategy of over-crosstraining the opposition is starting to pay dividends. I was on the fence on the poll, but this tipped me over the edge.

I beat a UTR 10.X last week (in a league match). Does this mean I'm a 6.0 player? lol

If you are a 5.0, and suspect you are in the 10.X range, then you wouldn't need to be spotted a couple games to beat this guy. Also if you are a 10.X it wouldn't be surprising if you beat him. Maybe you're overrating yourself?

This smacks of ET match marketing.

See ya in a few months. Just post up all the preparation videos.
Lol nah, I’m making so much money off my fishing channel and cryptocurrency investments, I already told my friend he can have my channel.

He’ll be able to save a lot of money if he beats me in this set though.

Finally picked up a racquet again after a VERY long time to play friendly doubles with my friend who lives in my basement, SirShanksALot, and my old high school friend who’s about to move to Germany.

We played doubles for 45 min then I hit for 5 min with my buddy. Keep in mind I took him rock climbing earlier today AND he hit legs in the gym independently after that.

I was too tired and it was too dark to play our one set match today, I’m feeling pretty good about my chances though.

His backhand looks rock solid, think that's gonna cause you some problems, plus surely he has the edge on serve...?

his whole game is rock solid. And to say he has the edge in regards to serving… is an understatement of the highest degree.

Nevertheless, I NEVER walk into a match thinking I’m going to lose. I shall discover the path to victory regardless of how narrow it may be!

What's the new stick?
the stick itself isn’t important. The takeaway is that I’ve been handicapping myself the past 4 years using a racquet that’s too heavy for me. My yonex had A swingweight of 333, and I’m not a particularly big or strong guy.

I feel like rock Lee or goku after their training weights have come off. And this was my first real hitting session with this frame… I’m actually getting kind of fired up about playing tennis again.

I see. That's great to hear then. The duel g 330 is a beast of a stick. I'd gladly take it off your hands if you feel like ridding of it haha. So how low did you go in terms of swingweight? I'm assuming about 320?

blade v7 stock, I think the swingweight is 328 or something, it feels just right though, no more sluggishness when I’m on the defensive or at the net.

sure I got 4 I’m willing to get rid of, I shall not be needing them anymore. Grip size 2, no cracks or anything, some scrapes around the hoop, I’d be willing to sell for $100 each, no charge for shipping.

Guy who lives in my basement playing with d1 teammate, claims it’s utr 8 vs utr 11, please give an accurate utr rating for Kevin (white) and Justin (black)

If they claim, they must have a utr profile somewhere that proves it.

If you mean estimate and make a guess I can try. I have a feeling it might not accurate due to lack of videos of them actually playing points and not knowing how rusty they are it would be harder.

I would say given the video with limited exposure of their strokes and situation, given they are still recovering my guess is that they might have a good run in a 4.0 league, but not sure if they can really win a 4.5 league consistently.

Justin might have some power, but it is unclear if he can consistently perform like this against component who has no power, moonball everywhere, and good at making him go to the net. Or someone who can neutralize his power and slice into oblivion. I am also not sure if he can actually win against people who actually hit more spin and power. If you compare him to dill play you can see the difference in how they hit.

Also one of the biggest problems in matchplay is mental consistency, if they can't hit like how they hit in practice, then nothing in practice would matter.

Bro, play already, why the delay?
Been busy my dude, two kids under three, moved into a new house recently, studying real estate, crypto, and stock investments… Plus running my YouTube channel full time.

Already gave my buddy my channel in good faith that he’ll crush me but I am still gonna play him so he can have some easy content.

yea, serious. Basing on just one video, when they are rusty and it is a friendly match and only on one court in one kind of weather. I compare them based on serves, options and reactions, I don't compare when they hit hard, esp a lot of those hard shots goes out in those highlights.

You saw Mark Sensait right? do you think they have overwhelming strategy, power and consistency to win against Mark? if not then they are about the same.

This is a sample 5.0+, practice match, and that guy is actually a double's champion in that league, so he is probably not the strongest in singles. You can compare and see the amount of options those two have and how much more consistent they are.

UTR is a good indicator, but it doesn't mean it will always be exactly as it is as people flutuate every day. That's why sometimes you hear people talking about good days versus bad days. How I determine in my mind is how many options I can see from them to make sure they don't lose the point. And that's it.

Both players definitely has the potential, but as I already stated in my post, limited exposure is limited. And they already stated they are rusty. That's why I also add notes explaining what I also believe that might change if they have show me more stuff. If they got out of rustiness then they can definitely go up a level if they can show it.
