Soccer is the sport that everyone plays when they are younger.because is great for footwork. How many play in college with a chance at a career, probably 5%. Yes, because of the sheer size. Tennis a second tier sport, even soccer is a upper crust sport in the State contrary to the rest of the world.

Lots of kids in the U.S. play soccer, and my understanding is a very small percentage of them get DI scholarships.

I've come up with a formula. Take the number of internationals playing college soccer, (NOTE* that this is a a lower percentage compared to tennis), then divide that by of kids playing U.S. soccer, divide that by the number of U.S. kids who get D1 scholarships, then multiply the X times the Y axis = angry tennis parent @Tennis2349

Another false narrative. Even by percentage and some stats have the U.S. as low as 4.1% of the worlds pop., the U.S. has the 3rd largest population behind India and China. Take into account the 3 countries populations percentage of wealth to poverty ratios, which I don't know, but would have a strong suspicion the U.S. is way ahead of the rest.

This discussion is all over the map, pun intended. To better determine what countries would or should do better at one sport vs. another, I think it would be best served to look at accessibility to the sport in question, total participation numbers of sport in question, total number of accessible facilities, access to affordable coaching, opportunities to compete, etc. The whole conversation becomes a theoretical exercise in demographics, data and to cobble together some sort of summation that if done by different folks will all have different outcomes. In the end, while mildly interesting, still theoretical with little practical outcomes and a waste of time.
I just don’t believe in the arrogance in saying the USA “should” or “could” dominate a sport IF they wanted to.

The USA can’t even dominate basketball. Jamaica beats us in track. Brazil can’t “dominate” soccer. The USA is the best at tennis and basketball, but it’s impossible to “dominate” a sport most other nations play, and also have all the best players in the world at the same time.

The only sport we can dominate is American football because nobody plays it elsewhere. Saying those guys would be the next Federer if they wanted to is laughable.

We won more medals than any other country in the Olympics, usually do in the summer games, no so much in the winter games. So there's that. USA, USA, USA. We dominated everyone this summer.

Where is this going?

You are making up stuff now. I'm assuming you didnt watch Olympics. A lot countries in the world are great at soccer including England. Stop with the football analogy to tennis. Tennis is probaly third in the rest of world, in the States its probaly seventh. The united States is simply not the best at tennis. a US male has only won 1 major in 20 years, talk to me in five years.

Grand Slam Winners by Country (Singles)

The USA holds the record for most Grand Slam singles titles with 352 in total, followed by Australia with 167 and Great Britain with 91, with a total of 37 different nationalities having won at least one major singles title.

Again. Not even close. Drop the mic.

How many majors in the last 20 years for the men? You sound like a Yankee fan, living in the distant past.
It’s not even close. USA Will have a man and woman in the finals this year also. Tennis also is comprised of men’s, women, doubles, mixed doubles etc.

You are claiming Italy is the best at tennis, lol.. total of 4 slams to 352 for the USA.

Sure, soccer had Messi and Ronaldo dominate the ballon d ors as the best players. Doesn’t mean Brazil isn’t a powerhouse and having won the most world cups means something.

Again, not many people at all besides the big 3 we’re winning men’s grand slams in the past 20 years.

LOL, you keep changing the goalpost. Now we are including doubles, even mixed. Are you including Wheelchair too? The United States has not had a male winner on clay or grass for over over 24 years. If the match is not hard, statistically the USA has a minimal chance.

I have never played soccer because I think it a stupid game. I did very much enjoy dodgeball.

I never asked you if you played soccer or dodgeball.
I was countering your assertion: “Soccer is the sport that everyone plays when they are younger.“ If “everyone“ was hyperbole than please excuse my involvement in your thread.

Obviously everyone does not mean evey single person in the United States played soccer when they were younger.
