Testing various shoes

dr325i

G.O.A.T.
Due to supply shortages, I started experimenting with the various shoes (anything I can get in my size) and ended up with Head Revolt Pro 3.5 (my standard shoe), Head Revolt Pro 4.0, Lotto Raptor Hyperpulse, Lotto Mirage 100, New Barricade, Mizuno Wave Exceed 4, ASICS Solution Speed FF2 and I can add Adidas SCB to the review as I used them previously.

i will keep updating as I go through these

I think tennis is less popular in my country..... People around the world are complaining of shortage in balls and shoes but I can find plenty of everything here8-B:-D

This is work in progress and I will be updating. So far, the Raptors are my favorite followed by the Revolt 4.0 and speed FF2.

ShoeSize (my standard 11US)Fit (my feet are medium, normal arch)VentilationWeight FeelDurability (most currently in progress)StabilityCushioning
Lotto Raptor Hyperpulseremoved Content for character count and shoes are not for sale any more.
Lotto Mirage 10013
weight: 415g / 14.6oz.
The fit is inaccurate, very narrow, tight, runs small, suggest +1 to 1.5 sizeAverage I would say. No issues although no test time in hot conditions (75F max Ta)The lightest of the bunchN/A yet.
Will not keep them as the fit is not ideal. Too narrow and too long...
Averagevery thin, minimal but adequate -- no rubbing or pains. Sole is also "thin"
Asics Court FF311The fit is good, No slipping. Could not wear Court due to low heel. Same concern, low heel position also with the Solution Speed FF2! Feels like the mid foot sits higher than the heel. Average I would say. They are not light, but adequate and feel fast. The durability is a weakness especially with no sole warrantyExcellent. Super stable and secureIt is good, more than adequate. Not as cushioned as the GR9, but more than needed.
Head Revolt Pro 4.011
Weight: 400g / 14.1 oz.
True size, great fit all around, No slipping. Sitting lower than 3.5. Perfect foot positioning, locked in without any tongue gimmicks. Great laces and lacing systemExcellent Ventilation (even better than 3.5) from sides and bottom. Used them in 110F weather and they are black color.I believe they are slightly heavier than the 3.5 however, do not feel heavyVery good, sole on par with the Barricades, maybe slightly less durable. They come with the 6-month warranty!Excellent stability as they are slightly lower than the previous version.very good, absolutely no rubbing or any pains. They flex great. I traveled to Europe and back in these and no comfort issues at all. Front cushioning is little light but provides great court feedback.
New Adidas Barricade 202211True size, good fit all around, No slipping. Sitting lower. Weird lacingI did not like Ventilation. Could be improvedThey do not feel heavy, on contrary, they feel lighter than previous BarricadesBenchmark of durability
Will not keep them as I expected more from them but also have worn them through the first sole layer (roughly 2.5 months of use, on par with previous models)
Benchmark, though I noticed these are slightly more slippery than the previous modelsweak in a few areas, up front, tongue...
Mizuno Wave Exceed 411
Weight: 370g / 13oz.
They run bigger, should have ordered 10.5. Roomy up front. Sit slightly higher. No slipping. Easy lacing.Average I would say. No issues although no test time in hot conditions (75F max Ta)Feel very light and not sure how they do that (see cushioning)N/A yet.
Will not keep them as the fit is not ideal. They were too loose for my foot, although super light and comfortable. May try 10.5
Very good actually. I pushed them a bit last week and realized the stability is better than expected.a lot of cushioning and soft sole - sometimes feels too soft. Front flex felt like they "popped" a few times. made me wonder if I ran over a ball...
Diadora B.Icon AG10.5
Weight: 410g / 14.5oz.
They run bigger. I suggest ordering 1/2 size down (I actually believe TWE automatically adjusts the size for you when you place the order).
Medium fit, secure heel, they sit lower than what I expected from the pictures
They seem to have great ventilation, will keep updating. Good ventilation now that it is slightly hotter (82F / 28C)They feel very light when holding and wearing around. Will update the feel on the courtSo far, about 15 hours of indoor HC time on them and great durability. Additional 5-6 hours, no issues with upper or sole durability.Excellent stability mixed with low to ground feel, great feedback and great comfort. They are great. In line with the Raptors/Revolt 4.0. Great tongue, great cushioning and slightly less up front that will allow to get a good court feedback
ASICS GR911
407g
Giving these legends a try after unsuccessful trying of Court and Speed (Achilles). These are true to fit, snug, feels very secure. Absolutely no heel slippingVentilation seems to be appropriate. I played two, 2-hour sessions and my feet did not get overly hotThey definitely feel quick, stable and not as heavy as measuredTBDVery Stable and secure. Hugs the feet perfectly.Very good! I continue loving these. Great cushioning. Very comfortable.
Babolat Jet Mach 311.5
372g
TW suggested that they run snug and some suggested 1/2 size up. I did order 11.5 as the only remaining size on sale, but would probably go with my true size otherwise. The +0.5 size fit is too big.Seems adequate, though, I was sweating more than the others during two of my sessions. They feel very light and quick. Do no notice them on my feet at all.TBDOne of the most overrated shoes I tried. Yes, they are light, not extremely comfortable as some depicted. Nothing special otherwiseI'd say adequate. Some say a lot of cushioning -- yes, around the foot, but not on the insoles.
Mizuno Wave Enforce
My favorite shoe
11
408g
By far my favorite shoe overall. Not all categories are the best, but overall, they are ultimate shoe for me. Great fit and the heel collar is amazing.Average ventilation. They come in darker colors, so, I am not sure how they would be outside in the sun. They definitely feel quick, stable and not as heavy as measuredThis may be the weakness, the sole lasts me about 6-8 weeks playing every day. Good thing is I get 2-for-1 deal on every pair purchased.Excellent. The foot feels very secure and confidentVery good. Straight out of the box. Over time, the cushioning holds well. Basically, at the time I turn them in for the "sole destruction", the rest of the shoe looks brand new...
Nike Vapor Tour 9.5 -- Reissue11
422g
Perfect fit shoe. Very true to fit in every aspect. Low to the ground. Old school feel...cushioned but not too softOld school, ventilation is not on par with the latest releases but adequate. They do feel lighter than the measured weight. I was surprised that they are the heaviest shoes I tried so far.TBDThey are very stable as they are low to the ground.I started having knee pains so, not adequate cushioning for a 50+ yo.

Nice comparisons. Does this mean Head is dropping the sole guarantee for the Revolt Pro 4.0?

I agree that they're thin and run small, but the Mirage 100s are still my favorite lightweight shoe. The Raptors sound solid, too.

Not sure what the direction of the Head shoes warranty will be in the USA with the 4.0. I hope they keep it going.

Nice! Would love to see an "Arch support" column in there if possible. I know TW has gives an idea of the arch but it can be hit and miss.

Nice, this will be useful whenever I start looking for my next pair.

I have something similar in a note on my phone with all the different models I've tried although on a much briefer level.

Revolt Pro 4.0 - great shoes

Thanks, I hadn't even realised they were released / announced?

How do they compare fit wise to the Sprint SF and Sprint 3.0 which I believe you've worn as well?

Would you say they also fit similar to the new Barricade? (albeit without the tongue/lacing issues of the new one).

Great thread @dr325i ... And that’s a sweet design on the new Revolt 4s. But I assume they aren’t so accommodating for a wider foot?

Why not testing Court FF2? I cannot even use anything else since I once had them on my feet.
I used the Court FF2 for about 6 months back in 2019 and they caused me knee issues due to low heel position. Also, the fit was between the sizes, and 11 was too big, 10.5 was too tight for me. And to add, that sock tongue is a total crap. The cushioning, speed and stability was great.
I was hoping the Solution Speed FF2 would fix all of that but...they do not. The heel position is still low, and I am cautious with them although I do like the lightness, fit and comfort and speed.

Great reviews @dr325i !! Bought diadora speed5 and fly 3 but fit was very odd for me (I use custom orthotics), I’m sending them back unfortunately (great shoes nonetheless)
based on your thread I bought the last lotto raptor in 46 at TWE, I’m really intrigued by them, hoping the sizing is right.

Also bought a pair of court ff2 for cheap, fit is not perfect but I’m keeping them as i believe they could do the job if the lotto don’t

Sure, understand. Didn’t know they can cause some knee issues, for me the the fit is ideal after using Nike and having some various pains. For me they are stable, comfortable and the only little knock is ventilation but only when it is super hot.

I’m in Dallas so that is about 6 months every year :)
They are excellent shoes however, the Raptors or Revolt 4.0 fix what did not work for me

Have you tried the Adidas Sole Match Bounce? I recently switched to these and love them.
Very comfortable and stable. Moderate arch and has a wide toe box without any seems.
I normally wear size 11.5 in most shoes as well as these.

Updated the fit of the Mirage 100. Posted them in the FS section.
I ordered my Raptor size based on my experience with the mirage. If you’re right they might be too big then. Should be getting them tomorrow from TWE. I ordered sz12 and that’s my usual size in yonex or Nike. Oddly its EU equivalent is 46,5 while most other brands it’s a 46.

Raptors in US size 11 vs Mirage 12 or even 12.5 fit about similar although the fit of the shoes is totally different...

Which of the shoes would you say has the most locked-in feel? I have low-volume feet and struggle with heel slip and sliding around in a lot of tennis shoes.

Guessing you have looked into heel lock lacing? Problem with shoes are their are so many variables. Currently I switch between Mizuno Exceed 4 and Kswiss Hypercourt Supremes. The Kswiss are great at locking in the heel. Work well for a wide foot and have great cushion for the light weight. The sock liner really helps here. Mizuno doesn't lock the heel as well but you can change how you lace.

Yeah, heel lock lacing works in a pinch. I've been spoiled by Vapors for years, which locked my foot down better than any other shoe I've ever worn, but the Vapor Pro doesn't do it. I'd like to find a replacement as good as the old Vapors, but it's proved difficult.

I'll have to check out the Hypercourt Supremes -- thanks for the tip.

Looks at the table I think any shoe with no slipping might have reasonable heel locking and might be worth considering. There is another thread which talks about Wide Nikes which mentions switching from the Vapor series to the Hypercourt Supreme.

Hi Chris,
I would like to know if the size you ordered for Raptors were Ok? I'm also would like to order based on my experienced with the mirages as in my true 10.5 the Mirages felt narrow and a bit short. I was planning on buying them in size US 11. Would you please let me know your thoughts

Thank you in advanced.

Hello, I’ve been injured for a few weeks now so I haven’t done a proper testing. Just put my right foot to check it was not an immediate return.
they feel roomy but not too big,my first impression is that I could have ordered a half size smaller to be sure. So I’ll stick with your usual sizing (10.5).

Thanks for your opinion and recommendation, went ahead and ordered the 10.5
Hope you feel better and get well soon.

have a great day.

Great reviews. I like that you put them all in a graph like forum. Nice and easy to read and see your comments. Great job!!!

The US sizing on these seems accurate but Lotto's EU sizing is strange. I'm a size 10 US in most shoes and nine times out of 10 this equates to an EU 44, but Lotto says their size 10 US is a 43, and indeed that one fits me the best. So I would say if you're looking at EU sizes these are larger than stated size, while US is true to size. ... Personally I prefer Asics so if anyone in Europe wants a deal on a once-used pair, I have a listing in the FS section.

Have you had the chance to try Wilson rush Pro 3.0 or 3.5?

@Tmano I find the Wilson Rush Pro 3.5 to be a very solid comfortable shoes. I have them. Run true to size with some room in the toe area. Nice cushion and feels great on court. I like them!

Thanks for your feedback! It sounds like a good shoe for me and if they run true to size even better so it a no brain choice for the size.!

yeah, I’m a size 10 in all my running sneakers and 10.5 on my tennis shoes as i wear them with padded socks, and even after that I feel some room on these wilsons. They’re definitely a good choice.

No issues although no test time in hot conditions (75F max Ta)Feel very light and not sure how they do that (see cushioning)N/A yet.Very good actually. I pushed them a bit last week and realized the stability is better than expected.a lot of cushioning and soft sole - sometimes feels too soft. Front flex felt like they "popped" a few times. made me wonder if I ran over a ball...
