Testing various shoes

Hello, I’ve been injured for a few weeks now so I haven’t done a proper testing. Just put my right foot to check it was not an immediate return.
they feel roomy but not too big,my first impression is that I could have ordered a half size smaller to be sure. So I’ll stick with your usual sizing (10.5).

Hi again,
I'm glad I ordered the 10.5, they fit great. Awesome shoes, Really comfy and cushioned.
Thanks again for the suggestion.

This is work in progress and I will be updating. So far, the Raptors are my favorite followed by the Revolt 4.0 and speed FF2.

ShoeSize (my standard 11US)Fit (my feet are medium, normal arch)VentilationWeight FeelDurability (most currently in progress)StabilityCushioning
Lotto Raptor Hyperpulse11The fit is great, snug, true size. No slipping. Sitting higher but wideAverage I would say. No issues although no test time in hot conditions (75F max Ta)Even though they weigh >16oz, they do not feel heavy at allN/A yet.
Only negative side is black marking sole
Excellent. Lacing is simple, they feel very secure and stableJust perfect. The insole cushion is great, comfortable but communicative.
Lotto Mirage 10013The fit is inaccurate, very narrow, tight, runs small, suggest +1 to 1.5 sizeAverage I would say. No issues although no test time in hot conditions (75F max Ta)The lightest of the bunchN/A yet.
Will not keep them as the fit is not ideal. Too narrow and too long...
Averagevery thin, minimal but adequate -- no rubbing or pains. Sole is also "thin"
Asics Solution FF211The fit is good, slightly comfortable in front, true size. No slipping. Could not wear Court or Gel due to low heel. Same concern, low heel position also with the Solution Speed FF2! Feels like the mid foot sits higher than the heel. Therefore, the heel area is fairly shallow, and laces are painfully short to use the last lacing holeAverage I would say. Felt little warm yesterday although no test time in hot conditions (75F max Ta)They feel very light and very fast.N/A yet.Very Good, though still not comfortable pushing all the way with fairly narrow heel. But they feel stablevery good. put additional 5 hours on them and cushioning is working very well, and they are communicative. Front flex felt like they "popped" a few times. made me wonder if I ran over a ball...
Head Revolt Pro 3.511.5They run slightly small. Order +0.5 and they are great fit. Sitting slightly higher. Perfect foot positioning, locked in without any tongue gimmicks. Great laces and lacing systemExcellent Ventilation from sides and bottom. Used them in 110F weatherAverage I would say, very quick thoughVery good, sole on par with the Barricades. 6-month sole warrantyVery Goodvery good
Head Revolt Pro 4.011True size, great fit all around, No slipping. Sitting lower than 3.5. Perfect foot positioning, locked in without any tongue gimmicks. Great laces and lacing systemExcellent Ventilation (even better than 3.5) from sides and bottom. Used them in 110F weather and they are black color.I believe they are slightly heavier than the 3.5 however, do not feel heavyVery good, sole on par with the Barricades, maybe slightly less durable. I hope they come with the 6-month warrantyExcellent stability as they are slightly lower than the previous version.very good, absolutely no rubbing or any pains. They flex great.
New Adidas Barricade11True size, good fit all around, No slipping. Sitting lower. Weird lacingI did not like Ventilation. Could be improvedThey do not feel heavy, on contrary, they feel lighter than previous BarricadesBenchmark of durability
Will not keep them as I expected more from them but also have worn them through the first sole layer (roughly 2.5 months of use, on par with previous models)
Benchmark, though I noticed these are slightly more slippery than the previous modelsweak in a few areas, up front, tongue...
Mizuno Wave Exceed 411They run bigger, should have ordered 10.5. Roomy up front. Sit slightly higher. No slipping. Easy lacing.Average I would say. No issues although no test time in hot conditions (75F max Ta)Feel very light and not sure how they do that (see cushioning)N/A yet.Very good actually. I pushed them a bit last week and realized the stability is better than expected.a lot of cushioning and soft sole - sometimes feels too soft. Front flex felt like they "popped" a few times. made me wonder if I ran over a ball...
Adidas SCB10.5They run bigger, ordered 10.5. Roomy up front in 11, 10.5 fine. Some slipping initially, improved over timeBetter than Barricade. Was happy with them over 1.5 years of useTo me these felt the heaviest of the bunchGoodExcellentvery good, although as I recall was weak up front
You don't have any interest in adding Diadoras or the Babolat SFX3 to your awesome chart?

I don't understand, as I can still get, relatively effortlessly, the best clay shoes in the world Asics Gel Resolution 8 in Canada, in all sizes. Granted no sales though...

In the US the issue is mainly that the Western Seaboard Ports capable of handling the ultra large container ships have a backlog of about seventy-eight ships to process. The largest cargo ships have almost twenty-four thousand containers. The two California ports can handle about eight/night hundred thousand containers per month at perfect peak capacity. So we are talking thirty four to thirty-eight or so ships per month. Assuming they only get super container ships. This is all before you consider the other issues slowing down the chain.

I haven't had trouble finding shoes, but I can't be super picky. I just ordered new running shoes. I normally like certain colors and models, but I had to adapt on both. Tennis shoes I ordered about a year ago and have enough for awhile. Combination of Mizuno and K Swiss. I was considering testing out a batch of Head Revolt Pro 4.0. Right now we are sort of experiencing reverberations through the supply line. People are ordering more to prevent potential personal shortages, and therefore causing shortages. I also see a large increase is players on the courts and rival sports are using the same shoe.(basketball, pickleball) You also have people exploiting the shortages. Basically when it comes to shoes you can't be picky, you may need to consider multiple brands/colorways if you need urgently. Most brands seem to be rotating which brand is in/out of stock.

So typically there is a surplus of shoes and it is easy to buy great shoes on clearance. Now you are more likely to find shoes at MSRP and recently released. The last two batches of shoes are purchased were both at about ninety per shoe. Both Mizuno. Prior to the supply chain issue I would guess the average was closer to seventy-five, mainly because I was occasionally picky about the look of the shoe. I was always picky about the fit of the shoe.

But why not ship them from Canada to US?

But why not ship them from Canada to US?

Likely reason, Cost.

Stores likely have shoes on order, they are just waiting for them to arrive. The problem is the main shipping lane are overworked and slow. Not many other ports are designed to handle the volume or ship size. It is taking maybe three months or so to get supplies versus the more normal forty days. Lock-downs sometimes occur and really throw things for a loop. China has a strong policy against outbreaks.

Romanian Diadoras suck. I am curious about Italian ;)
Diadora's were of course the Italian model. No good support, imho.

Mind you, for example hiking boots manufactured in Romania are tier one/among the best in the world, according to Canadian salespersons(such as Asolo leather hiking boots).

We own this model Asolo TPS 520 GV Boot - Men's (and don't get me wrong I also have Salewa mountaineering boots boots and many other brands) and it's great, I would say exceptional in all regards.

@dr325i What are your thoughts on the Revolt 4.0 upper durability? They've been on my radar after I go through my GR8s.
I've had them for about 8 months, initially used them a lot then "preserved". The upper looks great.
I traveled in them to Europe and played over there (mainly clay) and HC in the USA...
If interested, I can send you pictures.

I'm super interested. I wear out the medial side on my left and I am also a toe dragger.

Added initial thoughts on the Diadora B.Icon AG

So those odd looking Diadoras are decent, eh? How do they compare to the Mizunos or Asics Speeds? I'd imagine those are the closest comparisons? (more speed than stability shoe?)

These are awesome shoes BUT only if you don’t have wide feet. I’d say medium, at best. If the fit is right, these do everything great. Light, fast, super stable, make sound, low to the ground and…similar to latest barricades, allow you to slide into the shot…
Very comfortable all around with excellent feedback from the court. I cannot say much about ventilation except that they feel great after 2 hours indoor play (probably around 70F. Will keep updating.

Have you ever tried or considered the Sprint Pro…I think they just released the 3.5
I used the original Sprint SF and loved them. Tried the Sprint Pro 3.0 and did not like them. Have not tried the 3.5 however, I know they are popular with the Head team at the HQ

I see…I’m unable to find weight information on either the revolt pro 4.0, or the sprint pro 3.5, and while I like the idea of being light, i like support and cushion as well…my fave ever shoes are barricades 2-5, and using Gel Res 7 at the moment - good but nothing amazing

I have added the measured weight (left shoe) of the ones I still have/use.

Revolt line is more of the cushion/stability shoe...Sprint Series is light weight. Revolt line was normally about an ounce heavier. My guess would be mid to high 13s for the Revolt Pro ...one ounce less for Spirit Pro. Evo 2.0 designed for wider feet. They look like great designs.

See my table with updated weight information. Revolt Pro 4.0 is 14.1oz. (400g). I was surprised that they measured lighter than the Mirage 100's

Such a helpful add to the table. I was trying to guess the current weight of a size 9, as that is the typical size given when comparing running shoes. I know the weight of the previous shoe, but they did a major redesign.

For those that have experience, how do the new Head Revolt 2.0 compare to the Court FF2?
Revolt 2.0 was released about 5 years ago.
However, the Revolt 4.0 is the new one and I like them better than the FF2.
The FF2 is a great shoe but with 2 major flaws in my opinion, the "sleeve" construction was terrible and hard to get on, and the sizing was weird, 11 was too big, 10.5 was too small for me. They are comfortable and very stable and decent ventilation.
The 4.0 are roomier up front, easy to put on and easy lacing, better ventilation and 6-month warranty.

So finally I was able to test the new raptor !! fantastic shoes (got the clay version), very comfortable. I think I could have gone a half size smaller, but I guess they will work fine if the upper doesn't strecth too much.
No break-in period, I wear thick custom orthotics so heel slippage is always a problem, but not on the Lotto.
I think the main reason is because the regular insole is already thicker than usual, so replacing it with an orthotic one doesn't imply a radical change of the overall fit as it does on 99% of the shoes.
they look incredible, and the vibram outsole is really effective. Riding back on my motorcycle I had trouble changing gears because the sole was too sticky and was gripping very hard the footpeg haha.
Overall a winner that is going to retire my true love, the Eclipsion 1 that I carefully saved for competition matches the past year and a half.

it's mostly the odd sizing chart Lotto use. I'm sz12 / 46
Lotto 46 is 12.5, so I bought them based on the european size. I should have bought them using the US size which seems more accurate.

A few updates.
Ran through the first pair of the Revolt Pro 4.0 (Prototype received back in May 2021). Awesome shoes, and happy I got the released version (no difference except labels)...
Will keep adding my thoughts

I'm probably going to get a pair of Revolt Pro 4.0.

I'm coming from the Rush 2.5 where I wear a 10.5 (44 2/3). Local doesn't have a 10.5 Revolt for me to try. 11 seems a little more roomy in the toe width than I am accustomed to but the length feels ok. Anyone else used a Rush 2.5 and Revolt and did you go same size?

Will not keep them as the fit is not ideal. Too narrow and too long...
Wait you said the mirages both were "too long" and also "runs small"?

Revolt 4s definitely wider in the forefoot than the Rush 2.5s, from what I remember from a try-on and it was no chance for my toes.

I’m still waiting to play with the Revolt 4s on clay to test them further, as I just haven’t had time lately to play on the dirt, only hardcourt. And there I’ve returned to the Mizuno Exceeds and am just really appreciating them all over again. As dr325 says in his table, I don’t know how they manage to fit that cushioning into such a light shoe. Super for hardcourt, really. Very curious what they do with the upcoming 5s.

Sorry for the confusion. Initially, I ordered size 11.5 to fit my size 11 feet. It was way too tight. I asked the retailer to replace them with size 12 however, they sent me size 13.
13 is too big for me (but still feels narrow), 12 would have been ok…

The B.Icon are amazing. Becoming my favorites. A few surprises: Stability is excellent. They sit low and court feedback is excellent. The comfort is great!

Thanks for the reviews. Just ordered a pair.
My feet are clay shoes terminators. I get upper breaks/holes in about 75-100h in most modern models with mesh/fabric uppers. Let's see how these hold up!
