Thank you Roger (letter from a Nadal fan)

G.O.A.T.
Thank you for convincingly defeating Novak Djokovic and indirectly helping Nadal to reach his 5th Year End #1.

Today, for the first time in my whole life, I supported you. What a weird feeling. It was less intense than what I had expected, probably because of how easily you beat Novak.

These are my conclusions from the match:

1. To me, you are probably the greatest server of all time, or at least top 3. What a ridiculous exhibition, I have never seen anyone serve with such a clinical precision. Power, angles, effects... Djokovic was unable to return even your second serves. In fact, Djokovic did not break your serve in the whole match.

2. Your forehand is a piece of beauty, art in motion. It is surgically precise when necessary, and you have the diabolic capacity to make extremelly complex shots look easy.

3. Your will to fight is hugely underrated. Today you ran like a crazy for almost every single return point. OK, your movement is much slower than what it used to be. But your will to fight is intact. It is incredible how underrated is your fighting spirit.

In short,

GRACIAS MAESTRO

LOL, do you even watch these matches?

He broke Fed three times in that match. And obviously he'd have to break Fed at least once if Fed had MPs on his serve and lost
Although it was the first time in all of their slam matches that Roger managed to stay unbroken against Novak for 3 sets and 3/4 of another.

So is this the second time Fed does Nadal a favor? First time being FO 2011.
Can't compare them though. RG 2011 was an epic achievement, 30 years old Federer beat the best ever (yes, nobody will make me change my mind about that) version of Djokovic. I understand why many Federer fans take the loss in the final so hard.

I have rooted for Fed often, and always rooted for him when he plays Djokovic.

In any case thanks to Fed for stopping Djoker, and thus indirectly helping Rafa be year-end no. 1.

As a dual Rafa/Novak guy, I was rooting for Novak, and hoping Rafa could still pull through his group. Though I would have mixed feelings, it would have been nice to see a showdown in the semis.

That said, Fed was brilliant from the very start today: serving, hitting and moving so crisply, and with great confidence. His serve was unbreakable (Novak badly needed to cash in on his one break chance) which freed him up to stay aggressive on the return. All in all, Fed was masterful, and showed why he is so remarkable: his talent, resilience and will to win are at freakishly high levels. Still.

The rules of the ATP finals is completely unfair

Notice how the whining about the rules suddenly stopped
Haha I did notice this. I was looking for the threads about it. It does seem that most were true about their feelings though. They wanted YE#1 but winning WTF is "whatever" to them.

I honestly thought that would be the "hot" topic again tonight as it could get real wacky tomorrow.

Why the thanks when you started an entirely new thread complaining about the gross "unfairness" of the YEC and whined incessantly about it? It's a meaningless exo to you, so no thanks should be forthcoming to Fed. It's a Mickey Mouse event, remember. ;)
