No, it's you who has a problem comprehending. The issue here is about the USTA being biased toward an American player.
Regardless of whether Serena wins or loses, the USTA action was inappropriate because it's an act of favoritism toward their countryman while other high ranked players got punished.
The USTA deserves criticism.

Nonsense she was just the same as at Wimbledon and the draw panned out similar the players who could have beat her fell by the wayside. Here 2 ITF players, a bye against her sister, Kaneppi a ball-basher, Pliskova family bereavement, Sevastova talented but star-struck. Only Pliskova out of that lot had a shot at beating Williams. As soon as a player used the brain and exposed Williams lack of movement she was destroyed, just like Wimbledon. Great to see and she won't be adding to the slams, whether she finally get's the long overdue ban or not. The legs don't revive at 37.

I think Evert only lost once, maybe twice, before the SF (and they'd be QF losses)

Turns out I was not the only person who thaught Serena was a pig. Good to know
Not at all she wouldn't have got past the first week on the other side of the draw. Far more players on that side who had the tools to beat her, it was clear if Halep went early on this side Williams had a bye to the quarters and sure enough it happened. In the end with the Pliskova family matters it was a bye to the final like at Wimbledon where she got ITF players all ball bashers all the way. Both finals she got totally demolished a complete joy, so thanks in the end to those who messed about with the seedings.
