38 years of age, done everything there is in the sport with 100s of millions in the bank yet he still out there trying to win 41 shot rallies against players who are in their 20s. He has absolutely no need to be doing this stuff, yet he wants to cause he loves it and wants to still prove himself. His mentality is not achieveable.

Watch closely and you will see the Djoker did not have to move all that much in that rally; he ran Zed around twice as far.

I don't totally disagree with you but from the overhead on, it was clear the Zed was playing the "hopefully this shot is good enough" way. He's just too comfortable hitting hard to a generally safe area to beat the top guys when it matters most. Djokovic was a faster, better defensive version of Zverev in his younger days but still had to learn to take advantage of the short balls and improve his net play to get to where he is. Zverev is gifted physically - being that tall and still very agile but he's not doing anything else with those physical gifts. What happens when he slows down? I can see him dropping in rankings very quickly sometime in his 30's.The quality of tennis from both players was high. Do not understand the Zed bashers.

Zed has greatly improved his volleys. Handles the low volleys beautifully...
Not sure what is going on with his overhead. One would think a player with such a monster serve would putting away those smashes.

zchoker is a highly limited player who only has one tactic : a good serve followed-up with big shots
when his serves are not good enough and/or opponents can stay rallies after first two hits, he has not other tricks to win

I'm not sure he can handle Sinner's high horsepower baselining these days though.

That 41 shot rally to stave off break point was the key. This was the rally of the tournament so far. That would have allowed Zverev back into the match. But Djoker was having none of that. This rally showed the world that Djoker should not be the underdog. He’s the best ever.
It was rallies like these that showed me that Djoker can outlast anybody; if needed. With this guy, age is just a number. He’s playing like 2023 now. He’s dialed in. That was a masterclass that he put on.

Djokovic has beaten two top 5 players in AO and rg respectively.
Federer beat Nadal in Wimbledon 2019 but his last top 5 win must be back in AO 2017.
Connors never as good as Djokovic at 37/38 either.
Only rosewall in 1974 can match to what Djokovic is doing. Rosewall was 39/40 years old and beat Newcombe 2 times in slams as top 5.

Anyone thinking that was High quality doesn't watch much tennis and hasn't played the game at a reasonable level. That smash Zverev hit was worse than a park player and all match he had easy put aways and pushed the ball back.
Djokovic was tactically excellent but Zverev was dreadful and there is alot of face saving going on for him it seems after the blistering Criticisms the pundits gave last night

I think sinner wins but love a bit of needle myself. Yeah I seen it on X and the fan wars after fever pitch. Sinner and Djokovic fans really hate each other on there. Djokovic and sinner respect each other but no love lost. I admire sinner though and he’s been fantastic for the game.

The quality of a players overhead is not that well correlated with the quality of their serve. Nadal and agassi both had excellent overheads, but fairly average serve. Overhead are mostly about mindset and simply going for it. Z’s volleys have always been pretty good but it’s really more about how aggressive his strategy and positioning is. After all, his brother is a pure serve and volleyer.
