That Djokovic.....he broke another record again. Most five set matches played in history

Another day, another record smashed.

After breaking the record for most matches won at Wimbledon, and no I am not going to mix fields, he now has broken the record for most matches that have gone to a fifth set.

He also broke the record for longest quarter final played ever at Wimbledon.

He is oldest Wimbledon semi finalist in 50 years and he equalled Connor's achievement of making a slam semi at 39 years of age, USO 1991.

Apparently he even broke the record for most records owned. Incredible:

Peak Federer won his matches in 3 and not in 5 sets.

Djoker says he cares not one whit about these records.
Djoker says he is solely focused on beating the world #1 Sinner.

Lendl played more - 58 five setters

Nadal was very unlucky them 2 days. The roof was a decisive moment.

Nadal’s level of tennis was sublime. There didn’t deserve to be a loser that day.
Nonsense, they played on the same court both days so there was no excuse for Rafa not to have won if he played better than Novak. Also, it was Ken Rosewall who reached the Wimbledon final at 39.8 in 1974. He also had a 4-set quarter final vs another ATG player, John Newcombe and a 5-set semi vs a great player, Stan Smith coming from 0-2 sets down to win the semifinal. FAA, an outstanding player has not yet been able to reach a slam semifinal.

Federer was 0-4 against Djokovic in 5-set matches.

Who held the record for most 5-set matches won, lost and played?

The longer the Friday match, the greater chance Djokovic has, assuming his body holds up!
Yes so many of them when Federer was in his prime.

Is everything okay dude? You seem very negative at the moment.
I just don’t see what’s great about having played more 5 setters than everyone else. Most wins in matches that went to 5 sets? Sure, that’s impressive, but most 5 setters played isn’t anything to brag about.

Djoker already has a million records that are actually good, we don’t need to celebrate meaningless ones.

Why therecomes the need of going 5 setters.
NOVAK has sometimes gifted 1st set in many matches and if opponent wins 1 more set than match will go to 5 set decider.
Almost half of Novak 5set matches are like this

undefeated 5-0 in matches >5 hours

Of course, it was mightly impressive! It says that his will to win is 2nd to none!

Note that Nadal and Wawrinka were the two toughest outs. And Baghdatis, when he was only 20! And FAA, I thought Djokovic's days of 5-hour winner were over!

I would bet that Federer had never played a 5-hour match!

I sure wish I could get my hands on that Baghdatis match. I watched that match live on tv many moons ago and they showed parts of it again during a rain delay. It was electric. It's the match that made me a fan.

Edit: I just checked YouTube and Wimbledon uploaded it a month ago! Great. Guys, you should watch that one when you have time. Great match.

Wimbledon 2018 is so sad. The worst miscarriage of justice in tennis history, maybe even all of history.
Yes. Unfortunately, some of it was Nadal's own fault, like not taking set points in the third set tiebreak, and not taking break points deep in the fifth set. Nadal let the Djokovic genie out of the bottle.

He's even a record connoisseur! Where on earth does he find time to listen to these records?

He bought these records used! Must have cost him a large fortune!

In the list of longest matches ever, I never thought there would be the majority of WB! I would've bet Wimbledon was absent all together.

Nadal never allowed their RG matches to go that long!

The 2013 French Open semi final between Nadal and Djokovic lasted 4 hours and 37 minutes.

Nadal's match against Mathieu in the third round of the 2006 French Open lasted 4 hours and 53 minutes, and "only" 4 sets.

Thank god for the shot clock

Nadal was so unlucky in that match. In my eyes there didn’t deserve to be a loser. It might be arguably the best high quality match at Wimbledon or one if the best. It up there with 2008 Wimbledon between Fed v Nadal as quality remained high for 5 sets. Rafa was unlucky with roof being on as I agree outdoor conditions would have give him edge as it was very hot that year. It was coin flip match.

The match that would have touched 5 hours had he not been injured is vs Zverev RG 2022 semi final.
